I personally hated Britain when I went on vacation there because it is one of the most depressing places to live on the planet. Why not do it in a city that I'd WANT to save, like Toronto or Paris?

Honestly, if the option to let London be destroyed but save the planet exists, I WILL TAKE IT!

Cmon Bioware, you are a Canadian company, feature a Canadian city!

Because the English have Top Gear and Doctor Who. Hopefully, Bioware lets us visit Earth and have a good look around before the fight.

Architecture is probablly why it was chosen, despite the OP saying london is a miserable place, it's got the best mix of modern and ancient architecture in the world and it's a vibrant mix. You have buildings going back several hundred years and bright bustling skyscrapers and futuristic buildings offseting that, other places in europe are either the -same- type of buildings with a few landmarks, or are hidious buildings made by the soviets when they took over.. what survived the great fire of london and the blitz during world war two remains to this day with the addition of some very modern buildings.

Sorry but america and canada simply havn't been around long enough to have buildings even a quarter of the age of the oldest buildings in london.

Yeah rome is lovely, but take a look at the buildings, nothing really new that adds to the skyline ...while in london you have the new skyscrapers on the north bank.

So why would london be chosen? Simply because at a glance it reminds you -this place is old,and has a long history- but ALSO reminds you, this place is constanstly changing and evolving...((the big futuristic looking wheel for example -the london eye- ))

So yeah, reapers in london gives a image to sum up whats at risk... a people with a history , and that history demonstrated by the architecture.....((not saying...londoners...saying the human race is demonstrated by that juxtaposition, not to be mistaken with saying londoners are the human races best example, we're not...just saying at a very quick glance and for a snap shot... you get a sense of history , It was an the heart of an empire once ya know))

It's just a trailer .... london might be in the game, might not, I don't ever trust bioware trailers to be at all true to the games..

((ME2 cinematic trailer , Dragon Age Sacred Ashes Trailer)).so don't sweat it too much...

It occurred to me when I first saw the teaser that it would be a nice touch to say or imply that the Reapers struck London first because they deduced that surely if we center our time zones on GMT, it must be important.

well its not just time, but longitue 0 0 0 on our earth maps, and as earth is zero zero zero too... the reapers prolly just head to those map cords as our navigation maps read them, figuring the heart of the civilization will be based there.

Agreed. Baroque, Byzantium, Renaissance, Gothic, and modern architecture permeate England. A great place to hold a game. As an American, I agree with your sentiment that our buildings and monuments are not as historic as those in England, let alone Europe.

Indeed. It would be amusing.

On the other hand, it's not as if they haven't done this often enough to be more savvy than that.

On the other, other hand, maybe London is significant to Cerberus.

On yet another hand, we'd be asking this question no matter where on Earth the teaser depicted. Heh.

Because a earth band called Blue Öyster Cult created a theme song that struck fear across the galaxy that song was Don't fear the Reaper wich sold more albums in the UK than anywhere else. And in an intresting twist of cosmic fate their second album was called "specters" no bs I swear.

London is the obvious choice. Where else would Shepard find a giant clock tower to shove up a Reaper's ass?

Paris would be pretty painful for a Reaper then...or Dubai

hahaha No one knows what they look like, Canadian cities, it would be pointless. London makes a nice change. You were only a tourist, you can hardly have an opinion on "living" there now can you.

Really? I've travelled to London and enjoyed the city. I've also traveled to New York for a few days during winter and would love to live there. Odd considering I'm in a more sunny environment.

Though, I wonder if Bioware will have smokers at Heathrow Airport to make it realistic.

Maybe the later stages of the game will have us systematicly saving locations around the world rather than focus on a single city. That would be nice.

London certainly have some interesting buildings, but most people here seem to have a very romantizised view of the city. It's hardly the most monumental of cities, it's far from the most beautiful capital. The "vibe" of London won't really have an impact, will it?

It's recognizable, that's it

Every capitol in Europe is has its own landmarks. Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Rome, Berlin, Vienna, London. They all share the same history and all are ancient in there own way. They probably had to make a choice and they went with London. Live with it.

And this argument would have come up nomatter where they decided to have this trailer took place. be it in America, Japan, China, India, Africa or Europe.

But in all honestly, they just wanted to get some fish and chips.

Here's an idea - let's all settle down and wait for the game and then we'll see what city (if any) exactly will be featured. If you look at all the trailers of ME2 (the ones that don't feature in-game content, that is), none of them really represented what was in the final game. Yes, a few nice scenes from Tuchanka and Horizon, but all in all, most of it didn't even appear ingame.

Rawke makes a good point. Just calm down and wait. Instead of overhyping everything and being disappointed you should wait, actually buy the game, and then be amazed by things you never would have guessed.

I lol'd.

I think it's a relief to see something aside from the US getting attacked by huge alien ships. And nothing pulls off the word EPIC like Big Ben. And when you see how small Big Ben is compared to the huge reaper uh... arms.

I'm sure they had thier reasons for it, who knows it could eb set in London cos that was the last city to be hit

and FYI; i'm British; and British places very rarley get featured in big games

That's because they are always featured in post-apocalyptic stuff, and ME3 looks like Earth is facing an apocalypse.

1984, V for Vendetta, Children of Men, 28 Weeks Later, etc.

I sure hope not.  I wants to be in outer space, not stuck on earth.  Sure, Earth for a few hours is fine, but definitely not the whole game.

And why London?  Well, perhaps the Reapers decided to do humanity a favor and rid the world of British cuisine.  I kid, I kid.  Personally, I liked the choice.  It was nice to see a non-American city featured.

More strategic assault point should be Washington since America is most powerful country on Earth. On the other hand, ME universe is future. So it might be possible that Britain > USA in ME.
