If the US keep on systematically ruining their country like they did for the last decade, there won't be a Washington DC left to attack...:P

Europe will be more influential than the US in a few years anyway, so, yeah...London makes more sense (hypothetically speaking).

Europe is failing. Look at how the Euro is collapsing and how many EU countries are threatening to leave the EU.

Well, it's implied that Europe is one country in mass effect, so it would be more appropriate to compare with Europe instead of just Britain. It's also 180 years into the future, so that argument doesn't really work.

I for one, am glad it's London that gets featured in the trailer. The city is easily one of the, if not the most recognizable city on Earth. It has a lot of history, certainly much more than any city in North America, and it presents a nice opportunity to mix old and new, with buildings that are hundreds of years old.

In the end though, they had to choose one city, and this debate would probably come up no matter which one they chose.

USA = #1 1945-future
British Empire = #1 1497-1945

World War 2 and the subsequent decolonization of the world ruined Europe. But America isn't an empire, so we don't have to worry about that, at worst we'll lose Puerto Rico or Guam.

We beat you in that war, and again in the War of 1812 (though many claim it was a tie, we still held back your invasion).

Europe is failing. Look at how the Euro is collapsing and how many EU countries are threatening to leave the EU.

Good one. Took a peak at the worth of the US-Dollar recently? Nobody seriously threatens to leave the EU, because it's economical suicide by now. Germany, France and Britain as the most important members won't leve the Union, thus binding a ****load of financial power in this organisation. Granted, most other European countries are holding the big three back, but there's a good chance they can pull their own weight in a few years, while the US is just one big EPIC fail, both economically and politically (thanks to the two-party-system the US just run in circles).

Let me point out:

- American goods are worth ****, except for niche products that can't save the economy

- American influence gradually decreased in the last few years; the military might of the US forces is the only thing scaring anybody ATM

Didn't want to get into this, but you pushed me...:innocent:

Let me point out the massive debt and economic fail of the EU:

http://www.usdebtclo...debt-clock.html

Europe has way more debt than the US. You Zeropeans are the last people that should be talking about how to fiscally run a country. Germany and France are the only ones holding the Euro together. Greece has failed, Ireland has failed, Italy is failing, and Portgual is about to burst. These smalling countries that add nothing to the EU are dragging everyone else down with them.

4 of the 8 most powerful countries in the world (if G8 is an accepted standard) are European. Plus represantatives of the EU. You tell me they don't have political power...not to mention it's just a matter of time until Germany gets its permanent seat in the UNSC. And considering the fact that the Commies ruled Eastern Europe for the second half of the 20th century, there is a slight delay in developement. Give them time...

Wanna rephrase that statement?

When was the last time you saw political news regarding France or Greece or Ireland in the news? Almost all news, even global news networks are always talking about the US. Both US news companies like FOX, Huffington Post, New York Times, etc. and international news companies like CNN, BBC, China Daily, and Al-Jazeera talk about the US more than any other country.

The USA surely won't stay #1 in the future, just look how they declined in importance in the last 20 years!

On topic:

I think London is a good choice as it's:
-easy recognized
-the old tower is such a nice contrast to the reaper invasion
-it didn't get destroyed in every single apocalyptic movie ever made (perhaps a bit exaggerated :P )
-also one should think against a spacefaring civilization its quite irrelevant were on a planet you attack first (considering headquarters and "mainbase" aren't at Earth at all)

Are you talking about the EU or Europe or what now? And I think, as a German I may point my finger at the US laughing as much as I want (cruel but true) since we're pretty much the only country that actually won in the financial crisis... See, many European countries took a bad hit, but the US were right in the centre of the explosion, so to speak, and their debt is growing much faster than ours. You lived a good life in the USA for a while, you didn't care what was going on around you, and it's going to bite you in the arse. Big time.

The erosion began imho with the end of the sowjet union as this somehow removed the utility of being in best terms with US.
But as the 90 were a booming decade those subtile changes would first become obvious with the first real crises.

You know, let the reapers attack US soil first. I mean, they want to be first in everything right? Might as well let them be the first to be exterminated :P. Also that would mean that the US is that guy that is always posting "FIRST!" in a thread ^___^
