Do you honestly think the Reapers are just attacking London? That their plan is to take out one country at a time? They're attacking EVERYWHERE!

IE: They're attacking the whole globe at the same time, America included. We're just seeing what's happening in Britain. Sorry to say, but America is getting attacked by aliens again.

Ya, so why would Shepard (a seemingly North American soldier) go save LONDON before North America?

Maybe he's a traitor to the US and defects to Broviet Europe?

Because saving London might be of more importance, strategically? Without knowing more about the beginning of the game / the reaper invasion / the tactical situation that's as good a guess as any. North America is not the centre of the world, you know.;)

But Washington DC is in charge of real world, why wouldn't it be the same for Mass Effect?

You don't get out much, do you?*

*Unless your comment was sarcastic. In that case, disregard what I said.

Because if it was an American city it would be very cliche? As for London specifically who knows? Being English myself it will be quite good to see how they pull it off.

Why London?

Well ... there's this pre-Prothean device filed away under Curiosities in the deep dark dungeons of the British Museum, and it can override the Reaper's internal commands. So they want to retrieve it and then erase all traces.

Humans used to live up to around 900 years old. The oldest died around 950. God punished humanity for past sins by limiting our longetivity to 100. But yes, we used to live as long as an Asari, just not anymore regretably. Blame our anscestors and they're stupidity.

This is waaaaay off-topic though and I wish to avoid a war with some atheist that may come around here yelling stuff about Darwin't theory of evolution (which is dumb).

I personally hated Britain when I went on vacation there because it is one of the most depressing places to live on the planet.

Would you two lovely people care to say why?

IMO it makes sense cos Britain's an island.
If they really want to continue what they were doing with humans in ME2
they'll need a secure base of operations...
Need I explain more?

Why would you need an island for a base when you have giant spaceships?

I've been to most of Europe (Greece, Spain, Italy, Britain, France, Portugal, touched on Germany and Switzerland) and of all those countries, I felt the most depressed in Britain. It's COLD, rainy, dark and somber. The people there are apathetic, pessimistic jerks and the town is dry with regards to culture. Food is bad, and history is uninspiring.

It feels as though all the bad things that humanity has within themselves culminates in that awful country. You have no idea how mean people in England are... and I don't blame them. The country is depressing.

If you go to Italy, Spain or Greece, you feel SUPER happy because of the climate, culture and people! You feel alive in the Mediterranean, you feel dead in Britain.

If anyone needed evidence that SAD exists, just go to Britain. (SAD = Seasonal affective disorder).

It just gave me a sinking feeling of self destruction and depression, and I visited the country when it was "hot" (in the summer months).

Ugh.

We really enjoyed having you over to stay though. You were a breath of fresh air, so please come again soon :)

Really?!?

Well my Shepard is "Spacer", for all I know he's never ever been to Earth before since he spent all his life growing up on Sapceships and living in Space.

You should not assume things just because the VA's for male and female Shepard are American.

Because London has Doctor Who and Top Gear. Shephard has to find the immortal Richard Hammond, James May, and Jeremy Clarkson so they can try out all the awesome new vehicles in space.

My first thought was that it was an echo of War of the Worlds - the martians making their decapitation assault against the British Empire by going right for the head of the snake - London. Britannia may no longer rule the waves, but Well's depiction of a "civilisation" under assault has no real competition in the genre. It's a benchmark for alien invasions for good reason.

Plus, as much as the OP might hate London, it has a lot more character than some cities aliens seem obsessed with decimating...

Don't forget the STIG.

Now that you mention it this is probably why the Reapers are attacking London, they've discovered the exitance of the STIG.

I'm really jealous OP that you got to see London.  I can't wait to see some parts of the rest of the world.  :crying:
I didn't read most of this thread, but perhaps the Alliance brass is headquartered there?  Maybe the British have some ultra secret info there.

Personally I think they've come for the pubs tea - nothing beats a hot cuppa after a long journey ;)
