i wish people would stop with the argument that it's the consoles fault because it's just ignorant, people say look at assassins creed 2, i say look at Rome in assassins creed brotherhood, that is probably one of the biggest cities iv'e ever seen in a video game and it is flooded with people.

and no im not a console fanboy, i game on both pc and console, i just find arguments like this to be ignorant

The irony of this post is that you're the ignorant once, for not understanding differences in engines and different genres of games.

There is literally no other reason other than the fact that consoles have memory limits of 256/512MB.  It's a way better reason than your explanation, which doesn't exist.

i understand the difference in engines, and i'm not saying that kirkwall should look like anything in assassins creed (population wise), but you cannot tell me they could not fit at least twice as many npcs on screen as they did to at least make it look more like a place where refugees fled, i'm not even trying to argue about this because i'm looking forward to the game and i could care a less about the amount of people, i'm just stating it can be done

Kirkwall isn't as much populated that I've expected, but SPOILER

The fereldan refugees will be outside Kirkwall. The templars don't let them inside because they fear the taint.

true most people wouldn't make it into the city, but i doubt it's always been a ghost town

I agree. I hope that this is better in the full game, but I don't have much hope.
I hope for the PC players that there is a toolset, so this could be fixed easily.

And you expected what, a thousand NPCs filling the city? There are clearly people around in most of the city areas. I don't need to feel like I'm stuck in Kolkata.

This. Kirkwall looks really good, and there's plenty of people around. Why would one want more people on the streets? I mean, some must in in their homes, no need to wander around for no reason.

Yeah. They can't just wander... aimlessly

Hmm, I love the way she says that line. I want to bone Bethany.

Ditto.

"One day you'll be frustrated enough to go for it." I love the way Boulton delivers that line.
Athough considering that we don't know what Aveline is supposed to go for, maybe the delivery is utterly inappropriate. Damn Germans speaking over the game.

The graphics look pretty neat. Not keen on how Averline looks but the rest of the companions look neat so far.

As far as the "jagged path" comments go it's exactly the same as the maps in Origins just simpler to see. The Origins maps included all sorts of nonsense that made it look bigger than it was. It's not become more linear it was a linear game in the first place where you could go to different linear locations in any order to choose and that will pretty much be the same .

And the city not being hugely populated well neither was Denerim really. And what's the point in having tons of people walking around a city who all look like clones like in Assasins Creed? They wouldn't add anything to the game other than getting in the way constantly when you are zooming around on side quests.

I don't hate it (I think it will be a good game) but I don't see any reason to post a TW2 video here.

This thread is about DA2 gameplay, and not about comparison with other games. And posting a TW2 video will probably cause a game versus game war.

By jumping on it you're just giving him what he wants. Don't bite at it or it'll derail the conversation and cause the thread to be locked.

Because Origins had huge life like city's with 100s of people living out there daily life, just like in Masseffect. . . . Oh wait. . .

Bioware was never able to really build a city since they shifted to 3d games. It's always little maps that stand for a city. You can see this in nearly every game: KotoR, Jade Empire, ME1+2, DA:O, DA:A etc.
