Hey all. Im curious of what others are getting performance wise. With everything maxed in DX9 the game runs like a dream. As soon as I click on DX 11 my FPS drop to around 30-40 FPS with everything maxed. Im running an I7 920 OC'd to 3.6, GTX 580 SC and 6 gigs of Corsair DDR3 ram. I thought that I would be able to run this game better than that.

Could it be the demo? I hope so  :(

Thanks

There's a thread above this that states that the demo doesn't support DX11 properly. You can select it in the configuration page with V. High graphics, but it kills the framerate and corrupts textures.

Highest you can use is the High settings with the DX11 renderer, which gives you DX10 features.

Even with DX 11 on with High settings my framerates sit at 30-40 FPS with everything maxed. I really thought that my rig would perform better :(

Don't worry it's not your PC, it's just poor optimization.

Heh, DX11 cripples my frames too. But as said, the demo doesn't support it properly yet, and thus, you shouldn't correlate the performance you get in the demo with the full game that is due to come out. And besides, 30-40 fps is more than playable.

Oh I definitely agree with you MingWolf... I am merely saying I thought that I would get higher than that for this game. :)

30-40 fps is playable, but completely unacceptable with hardware like that and you know it.

Indeed, but again, there is the thing said that the demo doesn't officially support dx11, that there were issues, and that they have been fixed in the main game. I can hold the expectations that I can run nwn2, for example, with my modern video card, but my expectations alone cannot change how the game was coded.

And FurousJoe, I most definitely AGREE with that statement :)

Yeah, I noticed similar issues with my rig (which is almost identical to yours). I also started a thread on this here, if it helps at all...

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I've also found performance reviews on the demo at HardOCP and DasReviews.

Some of you need to read through the stickied threads and readme file for the
Demo. They clearly stated that DX11, Vsync and AA were not implemented properly in the demo.

My 570 crushes the game in DX9 mode and i doubt youll see a major FPS drop off in the full game under DX11.

Haha, I actually knew that, just assumed that everyone hear had read that post and that somebody had already mentioned it, but looking back I see that that is not the case...oops... Anyways, I actually found that turning down the AA to about 4x instead of 8x and disabling Vsync (to fix the issue with the loading between dialogue) let me average around 60 fps at the most graphically intense sections, so that's fine for me for now.

You have a great system...you should be fine for when the full game comes out.  I am looking forward to setting that sucker to it's highest settings and plugging my rig into my 60" plasma.  [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/w00t.png[/smilie]

I know...it's already a huge improvement over DA:O, it's killing me that I can't see the full DX11 features...and 60" plasma...nice...I'll just simulate the effect by sitting real close to my monitor...

Actually...I just noticed we have almost the exact same system.  I just upgraded to an i7 930 (overclocked to a 950) and an Asus Rampage III Extreme board.  I got the 570 instead of the 580 based on reviews and a deal I got.  Also running WIndows 7 64 bit and have a Creative X Fi card.

So...long story short, if your game crashes, mine should too with the same hardware!
