I've never killed her.

Maybe, someday, if I create a Shepard willing to commit genocide, I'll consider it, but so far my Shepards have been mostly paragon/paragade.

I just finished ME for the first time and the Rachni queen was my favorite part. I let her live! Of course, I always play paragon. And I'm a big fan of Giger's aliens.

To be fair you're a Spectre, it's absolutely your place to decide that.  You are given UNLIMITED POWER with no accountability for the sole purpose of making these kinds of decisions because no governing body can.

what I'd like is to see both positive and negative consequences for sparing/killing her, that way neither is really the 'right' decision
maybe sparing her results in the Rachni fighting against the Reapers but the Council races distrust them and so while you have a bigger army it's less unified. or perhaps some Rachni are captured and once again indoctrinated
if one decision turns out to be the 'right' one then any future playthroughs of ME1 would lose the moral dilemma that really makes that one of the best parts of the game

Yup, any rachni grown without the influence of the queen is just a mindless berserk beast, it was too late for them.


I never felt the urge to kill the queen but i'm sure it doesn't matter for ME3 anyway, their will be another queen for the ones who killed the first if Bioware intend to make us meet their new colonies.

I let her go, every time.

Yet I still question myself every time too. It's hinted that the Reapers corrupted the Rachni and forced them into war with the galaxy to begin with.. who is to say they wont just do it again?

My Shepard let her live, in part because he doesn't trust the Council's accounts of the history of the Rachni and the Krogan. Humanity wasn't there and the victors write the history. He's not willing to condemn an intelligent species to extinction based on hearsay. Besides, someday humanity might need an ally.

I never really liked killing her. I don't know why but I always believed that she was being honest. Turns out I was probably right.

I mostly don't, I felt really guilty doing so in my Renegade playthroughs.

It didn´t occur to me that the queen might have been lying - after hearing the explanation about their song and knowing about Reaper indoctrination.
So I thought: Why not give them another chance?
I´d be really amused if this decision will bite us in the ass in ME3... but it would be something new =)
If not, then hell yeah, Rachni Allies FTW! =)

No, I don't kill her. Ever. I can see, right now, that the Rachni will be needed to stop the Reapers. As will the Krogan, the Quarians, and the Geth.

Edit: I did not think this at the time when I first played ME1.  I was really torn about the decision.  I still let her go, thinking that that choice was going to bite me in the ass in the next game.  So far, however, it's starting to look like I really made the right call.

Saved her every time.

Not only because I feel its the right decision, but killing her by dumping vats of acid on her is just horrific and inhumane. No creature deserves a death like that. Its sick.
