I always spare her.

I can't condemn someone to death for something they haven't done (and the rachni might help against the reapers)

Saved her every time.

Not only because I feel its the right decision, but killing her by dumping vats of acid on her is just horrific and inhumane. No creature deserves a death like that. Its sick.

...but innocent people do deserve to be melted by rachni acid or torn apart by their appendages? You have your priorities in the wrong place. You need to protect the innocent colonits of Noveria first (and the citizens of the galaxy), not worry about the suffering of a biohazard.

That makes no sense.  Its not a biohazard its a atrocity.  The Scientists in the base were conducting horrific research on a sentient spiecies.  Those "innocents" were using the rachni as lab experiements.  Even when you help Doctor Cohen and save the staff, he makes you fully aware of what they were doing.  He then attempts to justifiy making biological weapons to himself.

Priorities arnt mixed up at all.  The Rachni you meet were "soured" and were manipulated in an attempt to make footsoldiers for Saren.  Just because you feel the Rachni were animalistic in their rampage on Noveria doesnt mean you can justify your actions by allowing a horrific death on a intelligent creature.  Two wrongs dont make a right.

I kept the Rachni Queen. I could see the potential of having her on my team. Plus, I'm not cold hearted enough to kill an entire species for past mistakes. Its like killing the turians just because what Saren did

No, it is a biohazard. If the queen gets out and starts breeding hundreds of thousand of people (and later millions) will be danger. You don't know if she's telling the truth or not.

This has nothing to do with punishing the queen. It is about protecting innocent people and being safe. The queen's tank is rigged up to give her an acid bath for a reason. She is dangerous simply via the nature of her being.

Your job is not to dispense justice, it is to protect the galaxy.

On my first playthrough, I decided not to kill her because any creature that communicates in music metaphors is my friend.

Since the ME2 "default" is that you killed the Rachni queen, I assume that ME3 will give late-comers and PS3 players a mission where Shepard can win over or mind-control the surviving Rachni. I assume that there are still Rachni even if you kill the queen since the intercom news reports mention mysterious ships spotted that resemble Rachni ships.

Exactly so its your opinion.  You seem to be doing a good job at picking and choosing parts of my posts you want to address or make something out of.  Everything I have been saying is based on way the Queen dies. Not what happens afterwards because she is free. But since you feel inclined to go that direction I should point out you dont have sufficient evidence to support your claim millions will die.  My posts are based around the fact killing a sentient being in an inhumane manner makes you just as animalistic as the "monster" your killing.

However its clear you see the Rachni as some sort of pathogenic disease on the galaxy so I wont further spend my time justifying my own actions.  You play your game and I will play mine.  Guess we will see what happens in ME3.

Well letting her go does seem like a hare-brained idea, but there's something about the way she talks to you that always gets to me. So no, i never killed her

I did not say they would die, I said they could die. You are gambling with many lives when you release the queen. That is irresponsible and a betrayal of your duties.

It is true that the queen's death is inhumane. I never said otherwise. It is a tragic and disgusting thing to have to do, but you are a Spectre! That is your job! You are supposed to be willing to make the hard choices, the painful choices, to get your hands bloody.

It's trapped and it's got a bucket full of acid hanging above its head. It would say anything to get out of there. "No no, we will dwell in a remote area, I promise, and I will only let those thousands of warrior sons I'm planning to produce if they have learned to listen to my songs". Yeah right.

Sometimes. First playthrough, no. Second playthrough yes. My various other playthroughs depend on how I am RPing the character. I think I've saved her 4 times and killed her twice so far.

Although I admit, killing her leads me to one of my favorite one liners:

Turian Councilor: "Do you like committing genocide Shepard?"
Shepard: "Depends on the species.....Turian."

That line cracked me up the first time I saw it. Still love it.

I had to think about it for a while during my first playthrough, but I did choose to save her in the end (the same decision in my second playthrough too). I was a little concerned about the possibility of her trying to screw you over and the Rachni just coming back hostile, but apparently I decided she was telling the truth eventually and, well, yeah. The council won't be satisfied no matter what you do though, haha.

I don't never kill her. I just don't want. I think it will maybe help me some day or something :) And some reason I feel badly every time I have to kill some one I like (: Even after those reasons I haven't any reason to kill Queen. I haven't see she is doing something bad I touch.

Main!Shep doesn't really care if the queen is lying or not. It's not just the krogan and a bunch of nerds anymore, there are turians and humans around now. If the rachni get aggressive again, the rest of the galaxy has the power to beat them back. It's not a choice between genocide against an innocent who's never harmed anyone and possible extinction of our own race, it's a choice between genocide against an innocent who's never harmed anyone and possible war. War sucks, but genocide is not an acceptable alternative.

Butcher!Shep figures this isn't a good time to be taking chances with galactic stability, but she tends to listen to Liara, so she gets talked out of it.

Crazy!Shep doesn't indulge conversations with homicidal bugs.

So, one for three. Nope, not "usually." My other three not-particularly-RP playthroughs, I spared her as well, mostly because I like having that bit of extra content in ME2 and hopefully ME3. And because Wrex whining about it cracks me up.

This too.  It's confirmed that this Rachni queen has committed no crime.  The events of the Rachni wars were over long before she was ever born.  If she gets aggressive and starts harming people, I'll gladly kill the **** myself.  Until then, she deserves a chance to live her life, same as everyone else.

If she were really crazy, she would have been chomping at the bit and thrashing about instead of asking you what fate you would cast upon her.

If she were crazy this decision would be an even easier one. It is the fact that she is not crazy that largely makes her so dangerous.

Never killed her except in my renegade playthrough. Nobody really knows why the Rachni attacked the Citadel races.

True but we do know that they did, that the Council races very nearly lost, and that we no longer have the Krogan to save us.  That's why I normally kill her, it's not that I don't want to believe she's telling the truth, it's that I can't take the chance that she's not.  If the Queen is telling the truth and I let her go it's fantastic, a lost race can rise again.  However if she's lying and I let her go it could mean a second Rachni War (which would be bad).
