Oftopic: Mirrors edge2 apparently hasn't been cancelled now...at least not yet, that was a rumour based on “rumor milling, loose quotes and assumptions”. It has been postponed until they can think of way to make it appeal to a wider audience tho (which could be good, or very very bad)

Some of my fears for ME3?

They don’t fix the paragon/renegade system

Decisions still end up having no real affect. I’m not expecting everything to have HUGE impacts or for you to have a completely different plot but some of these decisions should have a considerable impact. I understand it not making much difference in ME2. They couldn’t have it branch out to much because otherwise the amount of variables for the 3rd game would just be ridicules but since this is the last game and doesn’t need to import into anything they should be able to finally go all out. Especially since they are keeping the same basic build as ME2 so don’t need to waste resources on getting that sorted.

I’m not opposed to multiplayer unless the SP game suffers as a result.

Squad is completely replaced again and romances swept under the rug. Seriously bioware don’t do it! We spent most of ME2 sorting out their issue, learning about them and making them loyal. they now have the opportunity to expand on them. Rather than having so much time spent on stet up and backstory if them continue it form the 2nd game you can have more focused on them and character development. Also with the romances now that we have gotten over the initial start phase bioware has the opportunity to continue and make it more a mature and add depth. I’m am not however expecting them all to return and have no new guys but some of them should still return and some of those that don’t should have relatively big role’s (if not completely plot essential). Honestly not many people got most of there squad killed and juts left it like that anyway. Everyone else should not suffer because some derped on the SM and didn''t fix it or wanted to remove some characters from their game.

VS getting swept under the rug or Kai/Ash essentially being combined into the same character. They can be doing the exact same thing and filling the exact same role but they should not have the same personality.

ME3 being streamlined even more, I love ME2. Combat wise I think leagues better than ME1 but I do think it was streamlined a little too far for my likeling. I’m fine with it how it is now tho I would like to see a few more skills to add more diversity within each class and upgrades bought (ones that actually change weapons and have a trade off, not the buy this to get better that ME2 had). Just don’t cut out anymore.

Tone going even more Hollywood
.
Also this isn’t really a fear since not having it wouldn’t damage the game for me but bring back the HH please. It so much fun!

I’m not really worried at this point tho and I’m not likely to rage if any of these things happen. I will still most likely enjoy the game just be disappointed.

As long as the game is 30+ hours long, I am fine. Dont really have any fears(yet).

My only fear is that old squad mates will be regulated into cameos like VS in ME2. I don't necessarily mind if they aren't in my squad as long as their story has a satisfying end and my Shep has closure.

$69.99 price tag, with 5 DLC's announced 2 weeks prior to release.

And EA's convoluted copy-protection policy.

They should focus on the multi-player until AFTER the game. That way they can make ME3 much better. An MP would fit the ME much better after the reaper war, as you could have factions from all over the galaxy fighting to take advantage of the devastated galaxy etc, which would be the perfect or epic setting for an MP, which they can develop AFTER they done ME3.

They are going to crap it out and over dlc it like DA2.

I mean I don't care that DA2 was so terrible, I hope it means that they were focusing on ME3.

Also hopefully the choices made throughout the trilogy finally lead to some sort of different conclusion. Instead of just one a few slight variations.

DA2 was terrible? it's not even out yet. You are aware that the Bioware DA and Bioware ME developers have their own offices and work separately? Those two teams don't criss cross and make both games at once, Bioware have assigned members to separate teams working on separate games. They may be a few cross overs, not nothing major in  terms of numbers, like some of the TOR MMO animators will be helping the ME section create their version of the ME MP game.

It's out brah. Release date Mar. 8.

Anyway I don't really care I was just saying that DA2's combat was better but otherwise it was a step back imo. The Mass Effect series is what I really care about.

I thought that it was the 11th? A step back? I haven't played DA at all bar the DA2 demo, please explain.

Besides MP, squadies relegated to cameos my biggest concern is that somehow humanity is going to end up dominating the galaxy even for Paragons. First ME you had a lot of responses where Shep comes out as seeing humanity no more important than any other species.

Did not recall seeing that in ME2 even for the most paragon Shepard.

Since ME 2 and Bioware is working for a publisher called EA, everything seems possible.

Top Fears:

1. The start:

  • ALL Crew-Members will die by a Reaper attack (Most lame start I could think off)

  • You will die, AGAIN! (Second lame start I could think of)

  • You loose your memory (for no reason of course)

  • You will get into captivity for lulz reason (If there will be good reason, I wont mind)

2. The development of the game:

  • EVERY F*CKIN' old teammember will ONLY appear as a cameo

  • Your latest LI will appear as a toooooo small cameo (as Kaidan/Ashley did)

  • Teammembers break up with you for LULZ reason

  • New Squadmembers will be pure fanservice (yeah.. you know what I mean)

  • No "new old" squadmembers

  • ALL Crew-Members will die by a Reaper attack

  • New Normandy

  • If not with cerberus, you wont be able to be part of the Alliance again

3. Ending

  • You MUST die, no way to prevent it

  • There will be no chance off winning (most lame ending)

  • Everything was just a dream *Problem ME Fan?*

  • The "weapon" to defeat the reapers is just a giant stupid bomb

  • Stupid sacrifices to get the reapers down

My personal fears

My main concerns:

1. The development time. It still feels like ME2 is barely out and ME3 is up and coming. In all honesty I'd rather see ME3 happen in 2013 than 2011 just to ensure that it's done right.
2. The loss of Jack Wall. Clint Mansell is no name to scoff at, but Wall being absent for the finale after being a crucial part of the series is still jarring.
3. The chance there's going to be a hamhanded tacked-on multiplayer due to EA's utter obsession with the concept recently. One minute spent on multiplayer development is one minute taken away from the main game. Nobody wants it, nobody needs it, why do they continue to think we do?

In-game:

1. The Citadel is going to continue to treat me like garbage for putting the galaxy before the Council. In all honestly in ME2 it felt like some programmer forgot that "Concentrate on Sovereign" and "Leave the Council to Die" were two different choices. I hope there's some way to reconcile this mess, because I honestly feel like reloading my ME1 save and re-playing ME2 all over just so I'm not stuck with a racist jerkass Shep that I never once actually portrayed ("We created an opportunity" was a Paragon choice?)
2. The lingering feeling that the squad is going to be an entirely new cast just to bypass the branching nightmare that the suicide mission creates.
3. The fear that due to the development time and plot demands, there's going to be even less squad dialogue. The lack of banter was jarring, but Garrus doing calibrations for 90% of the game was just flat out irritating.

Shepard goes to sleep in his/her nice cushy Normandy bed and begins to wake to a "squeak squeak squeak" sound.  It's all blurry at first and then he/she realizes he's/she's looking through a thick plate-glass like substance.  Dim black figures stand on the other side of this substance and suddenly his/her hackles rise as a familiar voice greets him/her.

"Ah, human," says Nazara, "your contribution to your race's demise is much appreciated.  Thank you for giving us insight into how you human's think."

Shepard tries to scream but he/she can't... their mouth is filled with tubes and wires.  Shepard's chest heaves and he/she realize they've been running on a treadmill like device - without even knowing it.  That is the squeaking sound.

"The indoctrination process takes on many forms," Nazara continues, "we captured you on Eden Prime and took control of most of your functions.  We left a part of your mind to work out its fantasy, slipping in truths about us to see how you'd react."

Shepard's mind begins to unlock into madness, wondering at the purpose of the treadmill and if Reapers are ticklish...

"I run you on the treadmill Shepard, to calculate PI," the voice of Nazara begins to fade as Shepard's insanity mercifully transports him/her towards death, "and no we're not ticklish without Lionel Richie's "Dancing on the Ceiling" MTV video to get us in the mood.  ASSUMING CONTROL!"

I'm not too concerned about multiplayer... At all. If it's there, cool, if not, fine.Bioware probably wouldn't allow resources spent on multiplayer detract from the single player aspect.

My main fears are shortness and a single ending that you can't do anything about.

I know I just basically copied+pasted the rest of the thread into one post...

Luckily your fear has already been disproven.
