The Arc Projector is the beast heavy weapon in my opinion. It is just so damned versatile. It is useful against just about anything, most especially if you have an infiltrator's cloak. It is almost unfair how quickly you can kill groups of enemies, like in LOTSB when the commandos come in on the platforms. I feel bad for the poor SOB's.

You are so right, I don't think a lot of players know just how powerful it is. Image IPB
I think its rarely used , it seems the Cain and Blackhole projector and Collector beam is chosen a lotImage IPB

When all else fails the Cain gets the job done. But the most useful heavey weapon has got to be the arc projector.

Don't get me wrong the Cain is devastating , but its a last resort weapon (1shot) your saving it for the right moment, but like you said the Arc is a all around hvy weapon , sometimes I use it for missions I just want to clear quick it gets the job done and well.

My 1st time using it I didn't understand how it worked but my next time used it on Horizon against those Husk, man I was like pressure was off my back Image IPB

considering you can skip virtually the entire last boss fight in project overlord with 1 shot from the caine.. it's hard for me to pass up its pure awesomeness

The Cain isn't the first thing you reach for in a fight?

I mainly use the one that takes up the least amount of space on your back and looks best (hey you're staring at sheps back pretty much the entire game after all) and to me that weapon is the arc projector, the fact that its actually good is an added bonus.

Unless im fighting geth(arc projector) my favourite from a utilitarian standpoint would be the collector particle beam, however its by far the worst looking heavy weapon in the game. An aesthetic abomination. It looks so malplaced on shepard, like a giant bug or insect latched itself on sheps back.

So yea, arc projector!

Heavy weapons are very situational. It helps to have an idea of what you'll face before going into it.

Arc Projector is awesome when facing geth or mechs. Pretty good against organics too since it stuns, but it really shines against synthetics.

Avalanche (cryo gun) is good on missions where there are hoardes of husks. Works well in conjunction with a squadmate that has biotics.

Cain is good on missions with tough boss fights. Boss shows up acting all big and bad, but he don't look so big and bad after I shoot him in the face with a nuclear missile.

I carry the grenade launcher the most. It isn't as epically destructive to certain enemies like the other heavies are, but it's pretty damned good against everything.  The 2nd most common heavy I use is the Arc Projector, for many of the same reasons....it's good in most situations.

Yeah it would have been nice if they had a actual mission load out with in-tel from EDI , that told what your up against before you went in on a missions , that way you can kind of determine which hvy weapon to choose from, of course you know on your 2ND play thur what your up against , but for new players its a roll of the dice so my 1st time playing I stuck with the grenade launcher and then the collector beam and tried the Cain on the human reaper only because I read a comment from a gamer who had finished b4 I did, ME1 you could change weapons on the fly .

When I "need" a heavy weapon it's usually the CAIN. Otherwise I don't use them much. Maybe Arc Projector if I have a lot of Mercs around is fine. Otherwise I don't use heavies much.

I'm actually quite curious why people say this - 'they don't use heavy weapons that much'? Is it because of the ammo? I know on my first run-throughs I only used them sparingly until I got the hang of the ammo system. Now I use them whenever I wish, with the Arc Projector coming in as one of my fave guns.

Eh...I just don't feel like using it. I usually use the cryo gun if I use a heavy weapon.

Some of us live in areas that don't have a game stop, so going around talking about a weapon that's only available to people who preorder the game from a certain place is not wise. I saw the trailer on the Blackstorm basically creates a flaming singularity.

My local game stop is an hour + drive for me and that's by interstate going 75 mph.

I have to agree with the arc projector being handy. The cain i take with me on like the overlord and for the mass core on the derelict reaper makes easy work of that. particle beam is handy on horizon and i take it with on the collector ship it is handy against praetorians. Which is probably the reason you pick it up on horizon.

Well, I'm afraid some *do* have the Blackstorm. Why should they refrain from discussing it just because you don't have it?

I have a lot of trouble with the arc projector as it seems to take forever to fire a shot...I have no idea if Im doing something wrong but it seems very slow to me.
It does work well when it finally does fire though :)

Usually though its the Collector beam or the missile launcher...I havent used the Cryo gun much but from what Im reading here perhaps I should give it a spin.
I dont have the Blackstorm and the flamer is silly :P

The Arc has a 2sc charge time so you need to hold the trigger 2sc to charge it before it fires, my 1st time using I had the same problem , the Cain has the same a , a 4sc warm up before it fires.

My personal favorites are the Arc Projector and Avalanche, both versatile, high damage weapons...But I do have a question, I also love Cain, but have a heck of a time getting it enough juice...I have pretty much given upon Cain, as I will carry it as much as able to get it combat ready...get up to 130 etc...but when the time comes to use it, I find all the power gone (dropped down to 30 and I haven't used it, just carried it to power it up) and its got no juice, can't use it:-(. I play on an XBox, is that possibly a glitch with the XBox or am I doing something wrong? This happens about 90% of the time.

I'd like to make a point for the geth plasma shotgun here. Cook up a wee surprise with it and let fly in mook's face. Does awesome damage, and has much more ammo availability throughout missions compared to other heavier weapons that give you but a moment's enjoyment.

I personally prefered the Arc projector as it did alot for me on the suicide mission.
By the looks of things the Cryo HW is under-rated...
I may just have to have a look into it...the one time I used it it didn't really do anything...
