The wooden poles are constructed by the pole builders guild to high quality standards.  The ladders are built out of cheap materials by alienage elves.

In regards to female characters: Why do outfits with the least amount of coverage offer the highest amount of protection?

I thought it was quite obvious? Clearly, if you take the sex appeal statistic of thong armor and include it in the equation Y1=XW/2X+2X(MX)-X(M) all over 2MX substituting Sex Appeal for Y and taking into consideration Time Space Continuum while assuming most of the enemies in game are male (Leaving -X(M) to be the number of females in game) you can clearly see that game developers have the mind of pubescent teenagers.

Why can a character not walk through dense brush or trees....its not like they don't have swords, axes and fire spells...you would think trees would bend before the might of a really cranky berzerker just the same as a lumberjack

 This reminds me of the flirt pack in BG2 when you could randomly go for a bath in a nearby stream to molest your beloved, what the hell was everyone else in your party doing?!  Watching?!

In order to do that, there would need to be a tree engine (like the crowd engine in Assassin's Creed or the dog engine in Fable II)
