...You probably wouldn't want to be a Qunari Mage, really.
They aren't treated... equally to say the least. You may find yourself.. I don't know, leashed or possibly your tongue cut off. The latter is very likely if you also want to use Blood Magic.

Hmm. It would be interesting to know what the Qun says about Blood Magic. I don't think the qunari would draw distinctions between magic types. This statement could be a preparation for sticking my foot in my mouth, though.

Well it's said that when Magi are found to practice dangerous/forbidden Magic they find themselves without a tongue. Of course the Qunari may not find Blood Magic dangerous/forbidden. But considering pretty much everyone seems to go paranoid whenever there is a mention of it, perhaps they do too!

They strike me as having a "magic is magic" attitude.

the "new" qunari look cool....

for something -not- a qunari.

the retcon to qunari is stupid.

but not as bad as their goth undead mime clown darkspawn

It's not a retcon - the qunari we encountered were the exception to the rule. Sten and his comrades were selected to learn about the Blight due to their being hornless: a sign that they are meant for great things, and something which allows them to draw less attention to themselves. Likewise, the mercs we encounter are those who abandoned the Qun, possibly due to pressure felt regarding the special fate of the hornless.

They kept their mages muzzled and on leash , so ...
They don't kill them , i think they believe everything has a purpose ,but being a qunari mage is no different than being a slave.

I'm looking forward to meet qunari in Da 2 , playing a female mage , gonna be a lot of fun.

I love the way the Qunari look in DA2 vs. DAO. They look like a unique species now, rather than large humans.

I hope they aren't just enemies in DA2... I want to talk to them, to get a wider view of them.

I hope in DA3 there is a female qunari companion.

You do realise qunari were ment to be giant, super tough warriors that are 3-4 times stronger them humans and physically different.

Sten was a just taller then a human, he didn't look different not even in the ashes trailer.

Also leave the putty patrol alone. :?

In Qun, everyone has a purpose. The Qunari embody efficiency, if not perfection and individualism. They are administered by the females of their race, since in their belief they use those who are the best at doing something to their full potential (Males being stronger physically so they preform the mundane tasks and the fighting, but are not a Matriarchy. They rule the Qunari much like a brain rules the body, it can not function properly without the other organs. The Qunari you met in Origins were special, for their hornlessness.

As for their role in this game, I think they will play as a villain race in one of the chapters involving kirkwall, probably right before you're named the Champion of Kirkwall for saving the city (As shown in the Destiny Trailer. Go Mage Hawke!)

And blood magic is considered a foul art to the Qunari, and the malificars have their tongues carved out to prevent them from corrupting more of the few magical Qunari.

welll so much for that idea, A guy can still dream, right ;) I do hope that you can meet one and have a good convo with it, just to see how its mentality and its animations.

btw what is the RACE that follows qun because qun is a religion of sorts or a "mindset" and is followed by the majority of those "qunari" creatures so surely anyone can convert to qun and in turn become a qunari. I apologies if im not making scents, try and answer if you under stand :) shot

Qunari means Those who follow Qun, so anyone can be a Qunari, but from a non-Qunari stand point, all Qunari are the Horned ones.

I don't think they have another name than Qunari , they 're so pragmatic , that maybe they didn't even bother .
I don't think they care much for what things/people look like :)

I'd love to play as a Qunari.. or a Tal Vashoth that chose to keep the horns, personally. The "new" look (Through kinda heavily implied in the look of Ogres) is a definate improvement over tall gray-skinned human. No offense to Sten.

Will we ever see the old Qunari back? We should see both at one time in future DA games.

Ah but it still doesn't work. If that were so all those qunari we met still should have had the sloped forward heads and necks as well as the huge neck muscles needed for sporting the large horns. Those kind of genetic traits wouldn't go away just from having horns removed or even from being a birth 'defect' (?) of being born without them.
If this were true when they were making the models for DAO they would have had that bone/muscle structure, but they didn't. Thus, while it may have been true at the conceptual stage, it was not true during the game of DAO and was then changed back to an earlier design for DA2.
Personally while I think horned humanoids look cool I'm not a fan of the change in the qunari design. I was under the mistaken impression in DAO that Qunari were another race of humans and the people of the game world treated them as a different, monstrous race, because of their different culture and their tendency to be quite large. I thought this was DA having another little commentary on racism... but no they really are a totally different race, now with enormous horns. The idea that those born looking more human like are considered 'destined for great things' kind of gives me unfortunate-implications vibes.
While impressive looking I'm not a fan of DA2's tendency to go for the more EXTREME!!!! design options. Hopefully the game itself with still have some subtlety.
