I really need help with 2 issues..both are extremely effecting my game play.

1) is the random little lag spikes i seem to get not when there are like 300000 red mages with 4029384723 archers on the screen. its like when i loot something or in some random little run spree..very wierd. i have messed with in game settings, nvdia settings (went to balanced from quality!! for the first time owning this comp!!)

2)THE LOAD SCREEN! I feel like im playing russian roulette with the freakin load of this game. seems like it always freezes up, thus making me alt tab, ctrl alt delete trying to get out of it, only to have to reload the game again and retry. i can deal with the lag this i cant deal with, i have seem the same freakin cut scenes too many times.
*note* i  HAVE ALREADY tried changing affinity to 3 and 4, i have tried turning off PhysX through Nvidia, in game settings to lowesst possible, rubbing my rabbit foot, praying to god, rain dances and all that jazz.

please dont make me go back to Aion, wich i played flawless in fort battles, (much more graphics needy than this i would presume) i cant do that grind **** anymore

i know its going to get ask so here is FULL dxdiag..go go gadget wall of text

I am unsure of your setting affinity to 3 or 4? Did you set it to one single core?

You may want to try to update your Sound drivers as they're listing a 2007 date.... and you may want to try the NVidia Beta drivers as well... and by affinity 3 and 4 do you mean CPU 2 and CPU 3?

i just unchecked 0 and 1 and yeah i mean CPU, its 0-3. ill look into the sound drivers but this computer is about a year old, so idk why it would list 2007, and are those even playing a role into my lag/loading problems? thanks for responses

Your meant to have ONLY ONE AFFINITY CPU BOX ticked, not two.

Sound can cause a variety of issues and on-board sound cards are just horrible as they eat RAM and CPU cycles. Any of the Creative X-Fi cards over the $100 US mark (Xtreme Gamer or Fatal1ty series) have their own independent RAM and audio Processor.

As to your graphics, your driver is showing as April 2009, and those are clearly NOT the latest drivers either AND it's showing as 499mb of onboard RAM... does it show that way in the dxdiag window too? Would you mind cross checking that in CPU-Z (google it)? That "could" be an indication of failed RAM on the GPU or it might be nothing... need to do a bit of searching...

He has a Quad core, so it should work on 2 CPU's but just in case, do test it on just CPU 3. Posted Image

Gateway doesn't list any newer ones so.. might not have any. Also, I see you're running a Phenom 9600. You might want to check this thread out:

http://social.biowar...58/index/156838

You can find newer Audio Drivers here, but I would try other options first before using the generic realtech drivers.

Every time I have used this site its been frustratingly slow but you'll have to deal with it.

http://www.realtek.c...3&GetDown=false

Agree to the agreement and then you have options.

2.36 is the newest and you only have to make sure you pick the right operating system.

PC Manufacturers don't normally update their sound driver unless there is some large issue because you can download it from realtek directly.

update as of now, got beta drivers from nvida, newer sound card drivers, restarted comp 2 times now, defraged comp, ran virus scan and restarted 1 more time.

lag....gone

load screens....still very bad if not worse. now when i ctrl alt delete the game says not responding and there is nothing i can do but switch to a different process then 50/50 chance the game starts to respond again. is this game side or my side, im not tech savy at all but i think i have done all i can.

not sure what is doing this but it has forced me to shelf this game for a while. easily one of the greatest games i have played in a loooong time (love hard difficulty right from lvl 1 :)) but the load problems im getting are just to frustrating. will be checking back very frequently if anything comes of this. thanks for help.

cheers

i got the drivers Dateranoth was talking about yes and that drastically fixed my lag issues, changed reso to higher even. got new sound drivers also. the only thing now is the loading. it seems to of gotten worse. it eventually locks the game down into a not responding state. if i was to play on a single core 0-3 would 3 be the best one to leave checked???

sorry for crappy set up im on my phone atm..

Try leaving 2 and 3 or just 3 enabled.  I would also recommend at least trying this fix:

I've combined the needed files from the phenom fix here:

www.dateranoth.com/videos/phenomfix.exe

It's a compressed executable rar file. Just extract them to a folder on your computer somewhere.  Everything needed is in there.  Once extracted simply open the folder and run this file: TLB_Disable.exe  with administrative privaledges.  If it works it should say

Status: Phenom TLB patch disabled. Phenom at full speed.

Now try to play the game and report back if it helps.  If not then we can try something else. If it does you can either run that everytime you want to play or set it to autorun at startup using the taskmanager.

You're welcome.  However, since the fix did work you are going to want to set it up to do it automatically when the computer starts as its only permanent if you change it in your bios.  As I don't know if your bios has it or not its easier to just change it on startup.

Go back to this page:

http://www.hardwarec...our-phenom.html

Scroll to the bottom of the first post and follow the instructions about Setup Program AutoRun at Startup.  I would recommend moving the folder with the needed files to a permanent location first.

You should actually see a performance increase across the board. ( in other words better performance in DAO as well as most other games and CPU intensive apps )

To sum it up the patch disables a bandaide fix that addressed RARE crashing problems with certain phenom processors.  WHen the bandaide is enabled the phenoms see a performance decrease of up to 30% .  So this program simple disables that bandaide fix.

Glad it worked, and if you have any increasing load times in the future you can try to disable the first 2 cores then.   Otherwise leave them enabled for the game unless you do have problems.

Thanks but the credit goes to Nujabes from this post: http://social.biowar...58/index/156838  .  I simply combined the needed files and simplified the instructions here.  And yes, you can run it manually every time if that's what you want to do.
