Family guy is great and if it is for a young teenage audience then I am amazed. Half of the jokes would go right over their heads.
Seriously do you people just complain about EVERYTHING? You make me sick.

Indeed, I have been known to sample the occasional Family Guy episode.  I just don't watch TV regularly in general.  It doesn't always make me laugh, but I can't think of any comedy that DOES.  Heck, the elitists could adopt Stewie as their mascot.

Family Guy was a reasonably predictable choice.  It's too bad, when they had the opportunity to air the first commercial during Wheel of Fortune or some other spectacularly weird time slot and confuse the hell out of everyone.  Granted I'm not sure EA would approve of spending money on weird dadaist countercultural statements instead of genuine advertising, but you never know.  Their marketing department is so whacked it's almost a self-parody anyway.

Lets just hope Biowares marketing guy had nothing to do with it. If that last interview is anything to go by...

So what kind of audience do you think they're trying to attract?

The one that watches Family Guy of course.

Which tells us.... what?

(I'm just trying to see how long you can keep being evasive)

Lol what's with all the hate on the time schedule, Fox is a popular network (I think, not really sure cos i'm in UK) Family Guy is a popular show, therefore, they can get more people seeing it at the same time which means more people are likely to buy it.

That's how marketing works.

Yep.

Not only that, it encourages Dragon Age fans to watch the show as well. If I had cable, I'd watch it, and I just don't like Family Guy. So it works out for both sides.

I rememeber before X3 came out, the theatrical trailer debuted in one of 24's season finales, and I was almost tempted to start watching it regularly. That's a bonus for FOX. Would I prefer for it to be aired with, say, Futurama? Hell yes. But less people watch that, and less people are going to see DA's trailer if that were the case.

You tell me, I'm no marketing guy. Looking for a witch to burn on the stake? No one has said anything bad about this so I don't know why you're all getting your panties in a twist.

Says nothing about the type of people I think, it just says something about the age demographic they're going for and the fact that Fox is really popular that hour with that age group.

Which I'd presume is anywhere from like 20's to mid to late 30's.

Looks like it's also 9 pm pacific, so, yeah, it'll be up online well before the Family Guy episode even airs here.

Guys, it's annoying when you're elitist about consoles and PCs.

It's annoying when you're elitist about RPGs.

Stop being annoying about the sort of shows people might enjoy. Millions will be watching the show, I'm sure, because it's an hour-long special. Therefore, millions will see it. Airing it under some other pre-approved show in your elitist hearts probably wouldn't be seen by so many people.

I swear, you'd think geeks would have lower self esteem.

What show should they be advertising on instead?

The Price is Right at noon Eastern. My grandmother loves RPGs.

This going to sound weird, but the Oscars.

I'm serious.

I mean, they're right there, and they will be getting far more viewers than Family Guy.

Who cares if they try to appeal to a large audience? Thats sort of the idea of selling more games anyways. I only see the need for them to not start ignoring more dedicated and less casual gamers (basically, the type you'd find here often). Activision already does that, Microsoft already does it. EA and Bioware aren't there. At least not yet. Until then, I'm happy with a higher selling game (means its more likely to get a sequel!).

They should create banners on RPGcodex? Sure that will earn them a lot of customers indeed...

Do you know that either books by very good, non commercial authors, are advertized on family channels to publicize them? Just so you know.

You think you are an elitist, but to be so one must be intelligent (much more than the usual guy), not biased and having knowledge of the thing at hand (much more than the usual guy), on the contrary one becomes only, at the best, a joke, at the worst, pathetic. An example of a good elitist? Oscar Wilde. An example of a pathetic elitist? Read the aforementioned forum, you will find a ton.

I haven't said anything bad either. Unless you consider calling you "evasive" to be negative.

When you posted "Well this gives us a good idea of the audience Bioware wants to attract" you weren't actually saying anything at all except that we know that Bio thinks some Family Guy viewers might buy the game. Really?

Nothing wrong with Family Guy. I was going to watch it anyway, but then my satellite told me it was about Stewie going to see Santa, so I thought... this must be a repeat, but a repeat I didn't see yet! Ha, last week's episode was stupid funny with Herbert the pervert fighting off an ex-****, Ha, soooo stupid but I laughed anyway...

I find that odd, because as i see it games are becoming more and more like movies. Especially with all this praise going around for "cinematic this and that." Shouldn't you people be all about the oscars then?
