Both although Bethesda games feel like playing the same thing over and over and over again to me anymore. Nothing against them, I used to have a ton of fun playing 'em but I can't do the sandbox thing anymore. I don't really get why people have to compare between RPGs and can't just enjoy them all.

I like having total freedom in their games and everything but it just gets old really fast.

OP, you forgot, TW2 is Bioware's main rival. :P

Speak of the devil, I just pointed out someone abbreviating it correctly then you come in.
Just so you know Two Worlds 2 is not and will never be Bioware's rival.

I thought I would have been addicted to Oblivion for a while, but it got boring after 100 hours of playing and it looked awful on my 360. But that wasn't the only problem: it was incoherent playing in third person and I prefer third person.

Skyrim: hopefully it looks better and I can actually play it in third person. It already sounds like they improved the skill and levelin up system.

With the lack of Gameplay footage, I am skeptical. Also, they've given no indication you can play a female character. If I can't play a female character: it's a no go.

That's why I don't like Two Worlds and won't play the new Gothic.

Right? Right? It'd be a much better game if when i used forward power attack i leaped like 10 feet in the air first, or if i did a ranged shot from sneak mode the arrow caught on fire from the badassery.

oblivion was possibly the biggest waste of $$ evar

How about we wait before actually saying Skyrim is any good. ;)

We just have a trailer for now. And so far, all I can think is that they are still using Gamebryo.

Still pumped though.

There is leaked gameplay footage of a chick running around exploring skyrim... besides can you even fathom how retarded it would be to not allow a female PC? Bethesda never restricts race/sex like some games.

Skyrim for exploration. Maybe graphics.

DA2 for... well, just about everything else.

Probably.

I'll play the crap out of both for sure, though.

Oblivion didn't appeal to me that much but what kept me playing afther a while in oblivion was the mods. I wish the dragon age could so modable as oblivion. You could do so awesome things here.

Hmmmmm, nice question, but i do think asking it right now when both games havent been released is a little to early.

If i need to guess from looking at the trailers, this would be my picks.

World: For now its Skyrim, since i prefer open-world over map based worlds, DA2 has a feature that shows the world changing, but i havent seen this so i can not judge, but for now its Skyrim.

Gameplay: I prefer DA2 when it comes to combat, the flow of combat and it feels very polished, if Skyrim followes Oblivion way of combat, then i know for sure that DA2 has better combat then Skyrim. Afcourse Skyrim has not been released as a demo, so i can not be sure, but from looking at the trailer, i pick DA2 for combat.

Characters: I have always prefered DA characters over the ES series, the characters from Bioware always feel alive, they arent good or bad, they all have hidden secrets, pasts that must be kept secret from others. Elders Scrolls characters are to easy to put in a box, its obivous that the thief guild is full with scum, after playing i noticed that indeed they were full of scum, i was expecting a thief character who joined for a reason etc, but so far nothing new. So when it comes to characters from past-games, i pick DA2.

Main-Quest: DA series, Oblivion main story was crap, i played Oblivion for 85 hours and it wasnt because the main story arc as good, it was because of the side-quests. So for Main-Quest, i pick DA2.

Side-Quests: While both series have alot of fun side-quests, its the ones from Elder Scroll series that i have enjoyed the most, sometime i think that the ES series is a game with alot of fun side-quest + a small main-quest. So when it comes to Side-Quests, i pick ES series.

I based this on the trailers of both games and my past experience with the previous games.

Skyrim isn't using Gamebryo, they are using a bran new engine.

Also I am very diappointed in the complete lack of Deux Ex in this thread.

both ofcourse, for different reasons, DA2 for the story, dynamic characters and the gameplay, Skyrim for the well thought through and incredibly well designed world and customization

Oh sure it was fun in the summoning anvils from the sky and making them shield you kind of way. Don't expect it to catch on though.

Nope, still Gamebryo with a few bits and pieces attached to it.

Nevermind that, Creation engine it seems. Still looks like Gamebryo to me. :S

Most single-character RPGs bore me. Fallout 3 + New Vegas were the exceptions. I prefer party-based RPGs.

This. I will buy Skyrim, The Witcher 2, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but they'll probably just end up collecting dust on a shelf after one playthrough (I might take Skyrim down after a year or two to see what the TES modding community has come up with, though).

I don't like massive changes to the games when I played morrowind , oblivion which has the same engine.
I like changes but I dislike massive overhull of everything. They did a lot of changes. But they kept core the same which I like personally.
I hope that the modding community will produce a lot of epics mods those for oblivion.

I don't like games that makes you feel you're wandering aimlessly on a huge map until you bump into a guy who gives you a quest. I like it when it is linear(maybe thats why I love FFXIII). I was only able to enjoy Fallout 3 when I used a guide. And I hate guides. So, I think DA2 will be better.

They have very different approaches. Bethesda games usually have average stories with good exploration, where bioware games have good stories with more linear paths. Both will be worth getting.

Bethesda's path to sucess is being an average at everything. Apart from Music and Exploration.
