Just in case no one noticed: This TROLL signed up today and has NO registered games.

I laugh at how stupid this troll is but I also almost feel inclined to laugh at the people giving him serious responses.. or worse yet, agreeing with him.

Some of us are just giving him the benefit of the doubt.  So what?

I felt bad about him dieing. But you do have an alternative, you say alloud 'i do not wish to drink of this and join your murdeous group' and then turn off your computer.

but in all honesty, a good person stands up for there morals. But a hero breaks his morals for the greater good.

There was no self defense in this scene - are you people insane? One person was backing away trying to escape. I hope I never get you lot as juror if I ever get murdered..

He took out his sword. Isn't it self defense to shoot someone holding a gun who's desperate and could easily use it?

This: Don't mean to contribute to spoilers, but if I remember correctly, Jory actually swung first and Duncan parried his blow before finishing him off.

To be accurate, Jory raised the possibility of deadly force first.

If someone points a gun at you, must you wait to be shot before you can act?  Once threatened, action is justifiable, in very general terms.

Becomming a gray warden is not a promotion, there ranks are made up of the expendable / desperate, people who would take a 2/3 chanse at survival. why someone who had so much to lose as jory signed up in the first place i will never know.

The only weird part i found about this scene is everyone but jory is completely unphased by the death.

Well, Duncan and Alistair have both seen it before, and I don't think it even showed your character during it.

Its a secret ritual. we were informed that once we accepted there was no turning back. The wardens all are known and it appears most of the nobility or power mongers know theres a right of passage. So, knowing that, you get 1 person who agreed and then backed out with whatever secrets that person has gained to that point - up to an including what the ritual was and the outcome. I say he was just in his action. He was given a second chance and opted to fight.

Even when you strip him naked prior to the ceremony, he pulls a sword out of somewhere. and its a REALLY BIG sword. I don't even wan't to know where he kept that thing sheathed.

Justice was served.

--spoilers--

I usually try to stay away from troll postings, but i have played through this twice and both times i found it a little 'harsh' that he dies, but Duncan does tell him there is a point of no return. And as far as i remember, Jory drew first, backed away then went after duncan. Whether or not he was leaving or protecting himself, who cares. Some punk draws steel on a leader of your order after being warned, and 'hints' being dropped left and right as to what was happening...well so be it. I don't see anyone up in arms about the mage starting line. Fail the test-die, not good enough to take the test-neutered. Harsh all around. Duncan did his duty, just like the templar would have done if you failed the mage quest.

The Grey Wardens are.. Grey. They arent Holy Bright White Knights of Goodness Wardens. They are Gray. They do whatever it takes, no matter the cost, to defeat the blight for the greater good.

If Jory got away he would most certainly spread word of the joining and how it may kill people. And at that point I bet action would be taken against the Grey Wardens. The destruction of the Grey Wardens cant be risked, even slightly.

They do what they must to ensure they complete their job. If a villager is tainted by the blight and seeking aid, a grey warden will simply kill him without hesitation. The man is already lost and could spread the taint further. Sure this Villager might be a beautiful young woman who happens to be the queen, and that matters not.

Can you grasp why they are called GREY Wardens yet? They do their job without mercy and dont take risks. if you still dont understand then Hello Kitty Adventure Island is that way -------->

Morality may be relative, but mortality is absolute.

Thanatos' review of the events is well done and accurate, save for one point: Duncan attempted to reason with Jory up until the moment Jory attacked him.

Although I think it would be fair to say that Duncan cornered him there. In all honesty.

And one to his wife too, with a letter explaining the whole situation to her. She'll forgive Duncan.

Yeah Duncan was cornering him...and his reasoning with Jory wasn't so much reasoning as "You can't turn back"

really they should  have gotten Alistair in there "Ok Jory just calm down, ok....we're gonna have to kill you if you don't do this.."

"Is that alright with you?" :police:

Duncan writes: "Dear Mrs Ms Jory,

We regret to inform you that during the inition of Ser Jory, your late husband, he refused to drink the Darkspawn blood which has a highly overrated death rate with the intent of returning to you and your child. We had a verbal agreement that no one could leave this most sacred ritual, mostly out of fear we will not get anymore applicants to join us when they hear about how lethal the blood is..."

Duncan: "Damnit, I can't explain this mess..."

The interesting question I think is whether it would've been okay to do it had Jory just refused without doing anything aggressive.

I guess we're not sure if Duncan would even have killed him had Jory not drawn the sword. Guess that's something only David can answer hehe.
