Yeah, if you suck at the game.  I don't expect that to be unavoidable outcome, although I'd not be surprised if it were a possible outcome (kind of how Shepard could die in ME2 if you went full tilt fail).

This.  Haha!  Well Raina Shepard might.  She likes to party.  John is more the serious military guy.  So he'll probably find some way to help rebuild what was lost with the Reapers.  Not sure what that would be, but he would want to help in some way.  As for the dangerous crazy life, he might be done with it.  After dying once and saving the galaxy 3 times he deserves early semi-retirement.  With Ash by his side of course.

First of all, John is going to take a well earned vacation with this little blue lady.

After that....well, Earth and the rest of the galaxy may have survived, but the whole place is looking pretty roughed up. No doubt that the Terminus systems thugs will try to take advantage of the situation. So, after his well earned vacation, John returns to active duty, nominally as a member of the Alliance. Practically, he'll operate out of the SB base and use that network to head off trouble before it starts.

A guy like this doesn't retire at his age. When he gets too old for it, he'll likely become an instructor for Alliance special forces.

Campaign for Seat on Council based on the "I saved your asses card" replace existing members with Kirahee, Matriarch Aethyta and Septimus Oraka (drunken turian general). I may have spared their lives but I demand the Council's jobs. Create a new office of Spectre-General (filled by Garrus) to monitor Spectre activities to avoid issues of rogue spectres. Also marry Liara.

And umm.. pls dont accuse ppl of being bad at ME2 because their Shepard dies there because it takes a LOT to kill Shepard in ME2... almost impossible unless intentional.

and umm... I think Shepard will die in ME3 as well... it is less epic if the hero survives.

Teddy: Will happily rejoin as a Spectre and work alongside her husband Kaidan Alenko after the war. Will work to improve life for impoverished teens from Earth's slums, and will work dilligently to foster better relations between biotics and non biotics....

Charlie: Will spend as much time with Liara after the war....she loves her bookwormish blueberry Will also be pro Alliance...keeping some Cerberus connections....they weren't all bad after all....will also train her biotics....after Spectrehood...I can see her becoming Director of the N7 Academy or something like that...training the future gen of Alliance military....

Will also get Liara the cushiest desk job on the Citadel... no way is she letting her bondmate languish on that creepy SB ship....
