Cheating on your LI: Reapercussions?

"Is it really "cheating" if you were dead for two years? Even your original LI "moved on". All's fair in love and war, no?"
Right, since there is no difference between telling your ex and not telling...
CheatShep:"So, i was dead for two years and decided to move on."
ME1LI:"Wait.. What?!?"
CheatShep:"Yeah, since being dead brings that kind of advantages. Spaghetti Monster told me so."
ME1LI:"No, that just makes you a d###he."
CheatShep:"No, Because Spaghetti Monster."
Being brought back from the dead means that you are brought back to life. The key word being LIFE. You still gotta do what's right or you are a d###he. So, yes, it still is. And yes, Liara might have forgotten. That does not mean you did not do it.

I think you've misunderstood my example. It's not cheating first off, because they themselves had resigned to move on with their life. That emotional bond was effectively broken during those two years of your death, so you can't play hopskotch and act as though Shepard is somehow indebted to them because they were emotionally connected before he was gone. They, after all, voluntarily severed that connection with him. I don't know what kind of relationships you have, but I'm not obligated to tell my exes about every other person I get into a relationship with after them.

I took mostly offence to "all is fair in love and war" sentiment. Only if you want to leave behind smoking wrecks of humanity, bad feeling about the whole affair and lawsuits.
Shep died but that did not change the fact that survivors still cared. I think it's kind of a odd to make the assumption that they had moved on. IIRC and Ash was Sheps LI she makes some veiled suggestion that she tried to kill herself after Sheps death, I don't think thats moving on.
I mean if i came back from the dead the first thing i would do is to check all my friends and loved ones. If nothing else but to see where i would stand on the whole deal. Granted, there is no way to "call it off" with VS or Liara.(that i know of) But that is what seems like the most reasonable thing to do. That's why i take offence to ME2 cheating,(as a game function) there is no way to close the book with your old LI. It should be an option, instead of a forced eventuality.

Offense? That's how relationships work out sometimes. A lot of decisions are made that are far worse than not reciprocating with a past loved-one, but I'll cite trash television and leave it at that. There are tons of songs popularizing the concept.
As for Ash, unfortunately some people cope with emotional grief through less than healthy procedures. But they move on. It doesn't mean they won't have any lingering feelings, but it does mean that they've resigned themselves, even if temporarily, to moving forward with their emotional lives. It would have to been nice to have that feature sure, but Shepard is a tool of Cerberus at the start, and, practically detached from those experiences due to the current circumstances. I'm interested in how he'll have to make up for his decisions in the third, and I expect it to be more than a simple command choice. Maybe a crazy deathmatch between the two lovers... Nah, I'm going to far.
Again, I understand and sympathize, but symbolically, the book *was* closed. The Shepard that was alive is dead. The Shepard that exists now, is a totally different person. I expect that now, seeing that he isn't so much of an errand boy for TIM that he'll have to make up for his actions if he did start a new relationship.

Okay, i got all of that. But this seems wrong: "The Shepard that was alive is dead. The Shepard that exists now, is a totally different person." How exactly, you gather this to be so?
She has all her memories, memories are the things that make us who we are. It wasn't two years to her, it was but a moment. (And she did cope with it exeptionally well.)

She wasn't in control of those memories. Cerberus was. If you've played Overlord, then you might understand why I'm saying this. That wasn't possible with the old Shepard, and it begs the question of just how much of the Shepard that exists now is authentically Shepard, and not the tech used by Cerberus to recreate Shepard. There's also the issue of it possibly being Reaper technology, which would of course make for a particularly interesting plot device.

Hell, maybe the VS was just being cautious with what Cerberus did to Shep's body. They have no idea that's 100% him/her.

Ash though I can see getting visibly angry, probably yelling at Shepard for being a lying jerk and then responding with "with all due respect sir, unless you have something pertaining to the mission, I'm busy now or in foreseeable future"
Edited to add - I wish fans of other romanceoptions would refrain from hateful and disparaging coments about other romantic interests, it makes you fandome look bad and the character you enjoy - garner hate they don't on their own deserve.
just becasue you prefer something else, doesn't mean that other options are horrible.

I still talked to Tali after the Liara talk and she still said the same sappy things.
In short, my opinion is that it will mean absolutely NOTHING.

No, i did not play Overlord. Still waiting for ultimate edition w/all the DLCs to get most of them. Still, i did not run into this in main game, so i think that the effects must be minimal. Added content and all that, i doubt the writers were all that involved in it... Reaper tech; did OL really say "Reaper tech involved" or was it just conjecture and hear-say? Walked right into that one, even with the warning lights and all. Boom! One plot twist ruined... Meh, go to the forum and you lose the right to complain.
In the main game, it never explicitly states that the Lazarus Project uses Reaper technology, so in some respect, it's mainly conjecture, hence why I left it open to possibility. At most, it would be probably be partially influenced by such tech - EDI, for instance, was created using some of the technology acquired from Sovereign - this is revealed in a conversation. Thus, for me, it's not impossible. Plus the technology that Cerberus used was way too advanced for it to not have been atleast influenced by the technology of another alien race. Doesn't mean it was the Reapers, but you get my point.
As for Overlord. See, that's my problem with this game. It tracks all your information and choices, and the only choices I haven't seen transferred over were the choices I made in the Pinnacle Station DLC - hey, those might pop up in ME3. The choices in Bring Down the Sky were referenced in extranet announcements, and it's even mentioned if you never had the DLC. So, with DLC like Overlord - we already know that LOTSB is considered canon - you really begin to wonder. I'm not going to spoil it for you, but you *have* to play that game so you can see what event I'm talking about when I question Shepard's personhood.

EDI i knew, Lazarus is arguable(to the extremes.). AND you managed to kill the ME1 DLCs for me...
(No hard copies were made... =( )
So, okay this is *Spoiler alert* forum, is it not? Shoot me.
I wish to know the reasons for your dedication that Shep is not a person.

When I said "play", I meant the Overlord DLC. I'm not saying Shepard "isn't" a person, I'm simply saying that he isn't the *same* person. Next time, I'll just post bright letters that glow and flash so you'll be wary. Maybe I'll include a captcha.
Just kidding.

I think it depends on those fighting. For example, an Ashley v Miranda/Jack confrontation would be colourful, to say the least.
However, if it was Kaidan and Garrus, I could see them talking it through rationally.
Mind you, it could be like what happened to Liara in LotSB.
'You cheated on me? If you pick me we can have sex though.'
Oh, so that was possible afterall? Whenever I imported an ME1 character I stayed loyal to Liara so I assumed that she wouldn't do that. Don't really like that tbh. Makes both Shepard and Liara look kinda cheap.
