I have DA2 preordered and am so freaking excited for it and was looking forward to getting the demo. But first I decided to read some peoples comments about the demo, and was shocked that almost everyone said it sucked. Someone said the combat was to fast, bad voice acting, dialogue wheel to simplistic, you can no longer put armor on your allies, crap like that. To the people that played the demo is this really the case or are people just exaggerating?
Is the demo really that bad?

All true. depending on your opinion of course. The armour thing is not in the demo, but it is confirmed as a "feature".

It's really not bad at all.
I think you should give it a shot. People's opinions tend to be extremely different from one another.

People are exaggerating the truth. It is true the wheel is simplified, but it is so that you won't get Hawke's tone confused. I prefer the faster action, but the fights are longer. Putting armor on your allies is no longer works, as they actually prefer their own style of wardrobe. The devs had said that your allies do change their armor on their own during the course of the game, with a few exceptions to that rule. The voice acting does not suck, compared to Chaos Wars. (Look that up in youtube.)

Okay, here's what you need to understand: the doomsayers for a thing are always going to be louder than the people that are chill and enjoying a thing.

Combat is the same, it's just that the animation is faster. It's still tactical as in DA:O.
It's not suck. It's easy as it's in normal. And it's only a demo. It does the job well.
Aveline's voice is awesome, who say that it's bad? My bad Hawke is also awesome, though the voice maybe quite small.
It's not simplistic. It's imperfect but well, there's nothing we can do about that right now.
yes, you can no longer give armor to companion, but you can help them upgrade with appropriate ingredients.
They are just exaggerating. While the game has many flaws, it's still a good RPG.

It does not suck.
But it might if you're a hardcore DA purist.

Honestly I had a lot of fun with it, I saw it as a big improvement. However I did have issues with a little bit of the voice acting from time to time. Also the inventory and equip is locked for the demo. Allies no longer has armor (they still have accessories and weapons) they have special equipment that fits the feel of the character which changes over the course of the 10 years in game and you can upgrade and add runes to it like normal.
The speed? please honestly this was a big improvement for me, sometimes the leaps to attack look a little silly and makes you think on your feet a bit more but still I LOVED the change. In the end its your opinion and no one else's go and download it.

It did not suck. It was a little buggy and unpolished, but I guess that's to be expected from a demo that's months old and has been only sporadically enhanced for conventions and press.

Not everyone said it sucked. That's a gross generalization.
Play it yourself and decide.

.If you're looking for a complete look at DA2 then the demo isn't the place to find it.
If you want a quick taste of the new art style, new combat, and new dialog wheel then the demo will give you those things but not much else.

Subjective. I liked it, but think the game definitely has been dumbed down, despite what the "fanboys" say.

The demo disables a number of features that will be available in game.
-Combat is faster than DA:O, but personally I think its fine.
-Voice acting was okay. It can be better, but it can certainly be worst.
-Dialogue is more simplistic than DAO in regards to choices. Its more like Mass Effect, where when you choose a dialogue option, your character actually says something a little more depth.
All and all, I liked the demo, and look forward to DA2. A lot of people might say it sucks, but then you also need to consider what they are critiquing the demo against. Its okay to be a critic, but always consider the differences between apples and oranges.

Not...really? I mean, I guess you could say removing the ability to give companions armor is dumbing it down, but...not really?MorrigansLove wrote...

Honestly, I liked it. Sure, it had some issues, such as small bugs, restrictions in gameplay, and so-on, but it did what a demo should do - give you a taste of the game, a glimpse of what is to come, and what it can give.In my view, it was great - it didn't quite feel like a classic Bioware Product ( like more over the top combat), but it was very good.
