You need to play it and make up your own mind about it. I liked it, and those didn't like it had their reasons.

Not everyone said it sucked. That's a gross generalization.

Play it yourself and decide.

Just look at the comments of the review on giantbomb and Uh... I think it was destructoid. Like ever person said it sucked. But im glad to hear so many liked it. I figured people were just exaggerating but it is good to hear some reassurance.

almost everyone on the forums hates cod and halo and we know those games floped in sales (sarcasm)

dont put too much weight on opinions not everyone hated it

example my friend doesnt like rpg's he played the demo and now is addicted to it

Be careful. This statement could be misinterpreted to mean it's been casualized and thus lost it's RPG elemnts!

That was their goal

The demo didn't suck. Not only that,  I can't see how the voice was bad considering they brought back many of the voice actors from the previous game. Did you complain about it then? And if so why are you playing the demo?

The inventory was purposely disabled for the demo, but if you keep playing to the part where you help Isabella, and were paying any attention at all, you'd notice that Aveline is wearing different armor, so her beginning  outfit doesn't have to be her only one. I can't say the same for the other companions though. We'll have to see, but I don't see why this is an issue. Personally, I like all of their beggining outfits!^_^

And to those of you who are complaining about how the terrain is rocky and plain.....it's the Blightlands. It's not supposed to be green and brimming with life (unless you count the darkspawn)
(I know the terrain hasn't actually come up yet in this thread, but it's bound to sooner of later so I'm going to stop it before it starts)

Combat is more pleasing to the eye, faster, but still has that strategical feel that we all know and love. Personally, although the dialog wheel can mislead me sometimes, I prefer it to my character making the occasional grunt, like they did in Origins.

Yes there are bugs, and glitches, but it's a demo. It's supposed to give you a small taste of the game, not replace the final product.<_<

Why would I do that when I have minions to do that for me?

Honestly I share a house with 3 other people. Someone's almost always on the internet so its pretty much impossible to download anything. So id rather just hear peoples opinions. Because all that will happen is my friends will be like " Who the **** said you could download that?" "I had an essay I needed to do." I hate college.

Their goals wasn't to tap in into the casual audience?

I can find several interviews to disprove you.  You're backing out before proven wrong?

I personally really liked the demo. I think the combat was a lot better than the original, I prefer the dialogue wheel, and I didn't have any problems with voice acting.

Not really. I just see the same people posting the same things in every demo thread on this site, I guess that would be my proof.

It could be the other way around too I suppose. ;)

I think it was worth the download. Can't you use a download manager and download it overnight? Or you can use this http://www.netlimiter.com/ And set it to 20 Kbps or whatever to ensure you are not using the entire bandwidth of the house for some time. Netlimiter was a requirement when I was sharing bandwidth on Campus and off Campus. I was also labeled a "Heavy bandwidth user".

This is a demo and many features are not available, such as customizing face/appearance and equipping weapons and armor. Near the beginning they give you a chance to switch from 2-handed sword to sword and Shield for a Warrior, if you want, Or switch from Dual wielding daggers to Archery for a Rogue. Mages always use a staff. The biggest bonus though, if you already have DAII pre-ordered, you can play the demo and unlock another weapon for yourself for the main game.

It's not completely like DA:O, so it has to be bad...or that's how a lot of people seem to think.

I will probably have problems playing DA:O again, after I played DA2, because I will miss the fast combat, the better graphics and so on. Just as I had a hard time, playing ME1, after I played ME2.

Regardless of wether you praise the game or whine like a little ****, everybody on the forum is part of the vocal minority. Majority of buyers do not follow games in advance and post on forums.

So any praise and any complaints should always be taken with a huge load of salt. If these forums were any indication. Bioware should be making dating sims.

It's just human nature to speak out if you feel something is wrong, more so than if you're content with the way things are. Simple as that. Generally the unpleased people will make more of a fuss because they want things to change.

I've personally played the demo 5 times cause I liked it so much. I know it may sound weird or whatever, but I really enjoyed the demo. When I was playing DA:O, I wanted to actually be in the action instead of (I played it on the console) Press a and wait till the enemy died while using various skills. In the demo, I got what I wanted. And that's to be able to actually be a part of the combat instead of doing nothing while fighting. I'm a little sad that they took out backstabbing and made it to a skill instead but meh. VA is so-so, But I love the fact I have a voice to my hero. After playing Mass effect, I was a little disappointed that the warden didn't have a voice. But like everyone is saying, opinons differ from person to person. Just try it yourself and come to your own conclusion.

Coldest wrote...

No the demo did not suck.

DA2 is simply different from Origins, a fact you have to accept if you want to enjoy this new installment.

The only problem I have with the game right now is it being shorter than Origins. So I'm planning to play the game on Nightmare and do all the quests on my first runthrough to stretch the game time a little.

Did somewhere say that it was gonna be shorter than Origins? True, you don't have different races and things to play with but I don't think it'll be shorter. So I was just wondering if someone said it will be or not

It's always best to form your own opinion by playing the demo yourself. That being said, although the demo was a little buggy for me on the computer, I still really enjoyed the combat and played it through three times.
