Not everyone said it sucked. That's a gross generalization.
Play it yourself and decide.
Just look at the comments of the review on giantbomb and Uh... I think it was destructoid. Like ever person said it sucked. But im glad to hear so many liked it. I figured people were just exaggerating but it is good to hear some reassurance.
dont put too much weight on opinions not everyone hated it
example my friend doesnt like rpg's he played the demo and now is addicted to it
Be careful. This statement could be misinterpreted to mean it's been casualized and thus lost it's RPG elemnts!
Is the demo really that bad?

I've personally played the demo 5 times cause I liked it so much. I know it may sound weird or whatever, but I really enjoyed the demo. When I was playing DA:O, I wanted to actually be in the action instead of (I played it on the console) Press a and wait till the enemy died while using various skills. In the demo, I got what I wanted. And that's to be able to actually be a part of the combat instead of doing nothing while fighting. I'm a little sad that they took out backstabbing and made it to a skill instead but meh. VA is so-so, But I love the fact I have a voice to my hero. After playing Mass effect, I was a little disappointed that the warden didn't have a voice. But like everyone is saying, opinons differ from person to person. Just try it yourself and come to your own conclusion.Coldest wrote...
No the demo did not suck.
DA2 is simply different from Origins, a fact you have to accept if you want to enjoy this new installment.
The only problem I have with the game right now is it being shorter than Origins. So I'm planning to play the game on Nightmare and do all the quests on my first runthrough to stretch the game time a little.
Did somewhere say that it was gonna be shorter than Origins? True, you don't have different races and things to play with but I don't think it'll be shorter. So I was just wondering if someone said it will be or not
Yes, David Gaider said "it will be longer than Mass Effect 2, shorter than origins". Since I'm a painfully slow player, this is perfectly fine with me. xD

Ah Okay. Thanks for letting me know that. I personally thought Mass Effect 2 was long so I'm not complaining one bit. Plus all the quest and playing on nightmare should make that time up. lol. Plus I'm a slow player too. So meh xD

But it might if you're a hardcore DA purist.
I am not a DA:O purist. I had issues with DA:O that is was pretty vocal about. This sequel though puts any of the complaints I've had in the past to shame. It makes the older game look better in comparison. I was really really displeased with the demo.

Subjective. I liked it, but think the game definitely has been dumbed down, despite what the "fanboys" say.
Because anyone with a different opinion than you is a fanboy?
Play the demo, I loved the new feel of combat and I am very pleased with the characters and VA.

This is pretty much the level of it. Happy people aren't going to be making posts all over just saying ''So, that demo, quite liked it tbh.....'', it is always the case. The very vocal minority are determined to be heard, everyone else is just getting on with it.scootermcgaffin wrote...
Okay, here's what you need to understand: the doomsayers for a thing are always going to be louder than the people that are chill and enjoying a thing.
I was annoyed about the armour thing at first, but looking at the outfits - namely Varric and Isabela's as two very individual looks - I see why they have done it. It would be a real shame to cover either chest up tbh (and no, I don't fancy either of them..)

I have DA2 preordered and am so freaking excited for it and was looking forward to getting the demo. But first I decided to read some peoples comments about the demo, and was shocked that almost everyone said it sucked. Someone said the combat was to fast, bad voice acting, dialogue wheel to simplistic, you can no longer put armor on your allies, crap like that. To the people that played the demo is this really the case or are people just exaggerating?
It sucks. Cancel your order. Don't even bother to try it for yourself. Just accept my opinion and move on. Nothing to see here.
Sex sucks too. Don't try it. It's horrible. Virginity has its virtues.

If you want a classic RPG like bauldurs gate where the entire party has the same basic stats sheets and you get to put all of the armor on each party member you will be disappointed. If you want a game with better formulated party members that are all individuals that you will become attached to then you will be happy.
As everyone else has said...play it yourself and see. I think it isn't as wildly different from DA:O as ME2 was from ME1.

I loved the demo and have played it repeatedly. All the changes made this game a lot more appealing to me so far, with the only exception being the darkspawn character models. It isn't make or break for me, but I really think they should have kept closer to DA:O darkspawn. The ones in DA2 just aren't as menacing as they were before. It just makes their level of threat seem a lot lower.
They aren't prominent enough to matter. They'll be some in the deep roads and that's probably it.

Yeah, I don't get why people felt the dialogue wheel was worse than the list of text choices. If you count the stuff in the investigate part of the wheel then it adds up to be the same amount pretty much.TGFKAMAdmaX wrote...
The demo is great in my opinion. It is mostly a combat simulator however. The combat is almost exactly the same but with quicker/flashier animations. The dialouge wheel has replaced the list of text choices. The wheel provides the same number of options and the list so no worries. And lastly the inventory and half the skill sets are locked.

I say it sucks. Combat, animation, restrictions, artwork, the works. However, is there a reason why you don't download it yourself, and make up your own mind?

At the moment it feels very foreign and I'm not a fan, however, I felt the same way about ME2 at the get go and ended up being a fan. Essentially, we'll all just have to see how it really feels in a little more than a week. I wouldn't rush out and cancel my pre-order or anything if you don't like it though.

They people who are unhappy with the demo/game are usually the ones to complain. Those of us that are happy with the demo dont feel the need to spam the forum with threads saying such.

It doesn't feel very much like the original, EVERYONE is a ninja capable of tremendous feats of acrobatics, the colors and design distance it even further from the original.

I'd actually agree with this assessment almost 100%. I was the same about ME2, but by the end of ME2 I couldn't even go back and play ME1 cause it was so much worse as a game then ME2.

I'd say ignore the demo and wait till the game comes out and watch some gameplay videos.
