what i want to know is why do people that hated the demo so much still wonder around these forums complaining... we heard everything you've said... now just leave... it's not like they are going to change anything for DA2 and if they do make changes for DA3 at least wait to criticize until you've played the whole game.

btw, Demo rocked... no longer boring action

while a hater will froth at the mouth and rush to the forums to vent about it. Someone who liked it isn't really going to go post their love on the forum... unless their a fanboy answering to the haters...

forums are always going to be bias

I had a blast playing the demo. I've been playing rpg's since the DOS days but it didnt lessen my enjoyment of DA2 demo.

The demo is great in my opinion. It is mostly a combat simulator however. The combat is almost exactly the same but with quicker/flashier animations. The dialouge wheel has replaced the list of text choices. The wheel provides the same number of options and the list so no worries. And lastly the inventory and half the skill sets are locked.

Yeah, I don't get why people felt the dialogue wheel was worse than the list of text choices.  If you count the stuff in the investigate part of the wheel then it adds up to be the same amount pretty much.

Not only that but you know which choices move the conversation forward and which ones are investigative. No more reloading constantly to get the dialog you missed. Bioware wasted so much money on voice acting and made no effort whatsoever to ensure people actually heard it in DAO.

Just keep in mind that the demo is a demo - nothing more or less. A lot of the features that will be present in the real game -skills, inventory - were not even available, and the cross-section of the game we were given to play in seemed tiny. It's not surprising that a lot of the features - dialogue wheel, combat, the dialogue itself - seemed simplistic or dumbed down. After all, we were just provided with a snippet of the game itself and with many of its features cut out.

The reason I'd say the demo sucks is because it has no save feature,. It's simply not stable enough to not have a means to save progress.  I've only made it through the whole thing once, as a mage. I wanted to see how some of the other classes played with a few more talents in kirkwall, but I gave up.  I don't have the patience to restart over and over until I get lucky on a demo with 80% chance of crashing at any moment for no reason.

The demo sucks, but I wouldn't say the game itself sucks.

Yes.
It's that bad.

The flashback sequences were badly written and lacked narrative drive. A Mage is basically incapable of finishing the demo (due to the troll). The art style change is a really amateurish, ugly design choice. (And that's saying something, considering it's the follow-up to one of the least pretty games in recent memory) The slow-mo / bullet-time / giant swords / glowing red eyes / Final Fantasy clichés set a land speed record for 'quickest time to wear out their welcome'. The inventory is locked. (likely to spare us further disappointment) 'Lightning' and 'Earth' spells have been removed. There's less choice right off the bat. The combat is God of War with WoW hotkeys.

I could go on, but I've developed a typing cramp.

Itemizing grievances =/= Crying.

'Crying' is what happens when you're informed that your favorite banal first-person shooter won't have enough bloom or brown and gray bunkers.

Itemizing grievances is what happens when something's legitimately bad, and you put into words the precise reasons why.

Oh please, its way too easy to beat the demo as a mage, perhaps you just need to actually think instead of throwing spells left and right.

Its all down to personal opinion. imo i really enjoyed the demo and have played it a lot but some people really disliked it and cancled their pre order because of it, some people disliked parts of it but are still holding out for the final game.

I think you should play it for yourself and see if you enjoy it.

I finished the demo with all classes, If you don't get "Heal" thought the fight would be a lot tougher for all classes.

The art style change is a really amateurish, ugly design choice. (And that's saying something, considering it's the follow-up to one of the least pretty games in recent memory)

I thought the art style was better than origins, but that's my opinion.

The slow-mo / bullet-time / giant swords / glowing red eyes / Final Fantasy clichés set a land speed record for 'quickest time to wear out their welcome'.

You've never seen a elf wield a longsword in origins have you? All and I mean ALL of the obove was in origins.

The inventory is locked. (likely to spare us further disappointment) 'Lightning' and 'Earth' spells have been removed. There's less choice right off the bat.

It's a demo, most of the stuff is off limits.

The combat is God of War with WoW hotkeys.

Makes me wonder exactly how you played the game.

@OP Anyway, I liked it. But you should really play it yourself and see if you like it.

I suggest playing it. But if you are expecting Dragon Age: Origins v2.0 or a carbon copy, beware. There's way too many DA:O purists who hate DA2 for those reasons~ Mostly~

I am keeping an open mind about the game. I am hoping that all of the annoyances with the demo, such as sloppy animations, excessive loading times, and bugs all get fixed for the final version. The combat in the demo is crap. Its like they tried to improve a system that was crap into an improved crappy combat system. Its still crap, only now you notice it more because its a much larger part of the game. In DA:O you could tell combat was an after thought but fans didn't care because everything else was done so well... for the most part.

Will I still buy the game? yes. Did I like the demo? as a fan, not really.

hmm...the combat IS a lot faster and flashier, now whether you consider that to be bad...
personally I had no problems with the voice acting,I actually thought it was way better than that in DA:O. And for me the dialogue wheel was enough (you have 3 options and sometimes an "Investigate" option that will open up a few new dialogue choices)
The armor part is true (though you wouldn't know from the demo)but you can still give them rings,belts...and they change their own armour over the years...

Me personally,I just had one think I didn't really like and that was the way they changed the looks of the ogres and hurlocks (to me they look really comic like now)...

I agree, it is not so bad, 4/10. Hopefully, the full version hits a fabulous 5 or 6/10.

for me, the demo changed my view from Loving the Rogue to dislike it... I'm not a big fan of the jumping around... I love what they did to the mage (my current playthrough is a Spirit healer/Arcane Warrior and my party is INVINCIBLE) I think mages will actually have to think twice before starting a fight (not just buttonmashing like there's no tomorrow)

I approve of the demo!

the hud changes are a little worrying... and the fact that they have not yet shown a single Genlock also scares me... I hope they still look like the green dwarves, because I loved their look in DA:O

It in no way motivated me to get the game before the GOTY edition comes out, but it didn't make me want to skip getting it altogether.

Thanks to the demo, i will not be buying DA:2.

Bioware/EA just took a ****** on baldurs gate & RPG.

(The dialogue tree is horrible, i press one option thinking my character will say something similar to what is written, but no.. he decides to be an **** and spew some random ****. )

I played it on my bf's Xbox and I really liked it but in my honest opinion 45 minutes worth of gameplay is not worth 1.8gig download for me. I will be looking forward to game day though :)

It''s really good just the haters can't give up on Origin and thats it.They think that when they troll and hate bioware will acutually stop the game and start making a new one :D
