Yes.
It's that bad.

The flashback sequences were badly written and lacked narrative drive. A Mage is basically incapable of finishing the demo (due to the troll). The art style change is a really amateurish, ugly design choice. (And that's saying something, considering it's the follow-up to one of the least pretty games in recent memory) The slow-mo / bullet-time / giant swords / glowing red eyes / Final Fantasy clichés set a land speed record for 'quickest time to wear out their welcome'. The inventory is locked. (likely to spare us further disappointment) 'Lightning' and 'Earth' spells have been removed. There's less choice right off the bat. The combat is God of War with WoW hotkeys.

I could go on, but I've developed a typing cramp.

I had no problem being a mage, I think it's just you man

I like the new look (opinion)

I didn't see any bullet-time, slow-mo, glowing red eyes (that's the trailer dude), and I like the big swords (opinion)

the inventory is locked..........it's a demo.......

A lot of talents where locked, again it's a demo

Less choioce? demo.......

I've played GoW and WoW, I don't see the connection.

If you had DAO or for that matter any hardcore RPG in your top 10 then you will be disappointed in the changes to DA2 the ones in the demo and the ones not yet out yet

DA2, this game maked for Console game.
please develope NWN3 for me, please ..

I think you will have to wait a couple years for Obsidian/Atari and Hasbro to finish their court battle for that to happen and you will most like hate it even more than Dragon Age 2 with fourth edition rules.

As for the demo, I found it improved just about every aspect of Dragon Age on a technical and interface front.  It remains to be seen if the story, characters and enviroments also fall into this category.

I do think the demo had its limitations, but it showed the feel of DA2. The combat has improved and I think the new skill trees, as far as I can say right now due to several being locked, are a great improvement when compared to DA:O. The voice acting... hm, I thought it was good, especially when I compared the English to the German demo. The German one was truly disappointing to me.

My hint would be, play it for yourself and make your own oppinion. It won't spoiler much for you, at least ot in my oppinion, as it's the prologue and one short quest in Kirkwall.

As someone stated before, doomsayers are always louder than the people who sit back and enjoy their game. I liked the demo because I was playing it that way - that's demo, not the actual game. I don't see any issues yet and really looking forward to DA2. I could take some complaints seriously if those people were playing DA2, this way, I just see them like posters from Blizzard forums - whiners with no good reason... what will be next? Crying how in-game gloves look instead of fine embroidery they have gems etched to them and we all know tis not 'realistic' 'cause Hawke doesn't have money yet to actually wear those... Play the demo and see for yourself and please keep it in mind - it's demo, not final product.

I like it. But seriously about such things you should never care about an opinion but your own. So play it for yourself.

Demo is great. Tested on both PC and PS3. Like it more on PC for obvious reasons.

i love that people are freaking out about the demo. To quote DieHigh2012, ITS A DEMO, so calm your ****. yeah, we won't have every option the full game will have, yeah, it might not be as fluid as you'd like (based off an early model of the game), and yeah there are a few changes. i played the demo wanting to get a feel for the new game, and i did. what i felt was smoother action sequences, a new look that no matter what you say DID improve on the old, an exciting new way to fight and upgrade your character, and a new way to form your conversations.

I for one loved the demo, even with the small letbacks - little lag between scenes, and lack of content, but thats what a demo is.

I understand a lot of people have faith in Bioware to make it good (enough) despite their concerns but its just that, faith.

The demo is fun in its own way but the first order of business is trying everything they cut from the demo to see if it all adds up to a worthwhile game.  First time I've felt this way about a Bioware game, ever.

Having played the demo...

I like that the combat plays quicker. DAO combat could be a bit of a grind and since it took so long it didn't punish you enough for making bad tactical decisions or reward you enough for making brilliant decisions. Although from what I've heard I'll probably need to turn the difficulty up to get the experience I want. The demo was pretty easy; but I doubt they had the difficulty cranked up on the demo.

It looks a little prettier than DAO; but its still not blowing my mind.

The voice acting was pretty good; but again it didn't blow me away. Although Captain Janeway...I mean Flemeth is still particularly good.

I'm pleased that they kept the controls over the AI scripts really deep. It rewards the experienced player; but won't punish the novice since they probably won't touch the AI controls anyway.

The inventory system is locked in the demo, so I can't really comment. Without the inventory the game feels lacking; but since the inventory won't be locked in the full game I can't complain.

The branching leveling system looks good. I'm not sure if I'll wind up liking it more or less than the DAO system; but from the demo I can at least tell that I won't hate it with a burning passion.

It is really that bad. At this point I can only hope it's not an accurate representation of the game.

I didn't think it was that bad.

This is basically what people are doing: 'What is this!? CHANGE!? ...I don't like change! D="

People are basically just overreacting because it's a big jump from DA:O and quite a bit has been changed. I suggest you play the demo a few times over and see what you think about it. If you still don't like it, cancel your preorder and if you change your mind on a later date, it's not like you can't just buy the game again.

Also keep in mind, this is ONLY the demo, of course it's going to be buggier and less easier to handle than the actual game.

The demo has left me confident that I'm not going to regret pre-ordering the game although it really didn't show me enough to let me know if its going to live up to the level of DAO.  I have little doubt that the game is going to be worthwhile; but there's no telling if its going to be great or just pretty good.

Agreeing with goat here, my own personal opinion is that it's still Dragon Age. The mechanics are the same, it's just a different plot with different characters. If anything, I'm happy they've smoothed out things like the battle system. HOORAY FOR NO MORE AWKWARD SHUFFLING!

For me, on the PC it was horrible. The combat didnt feel any like that in DAO. That is my opinion.
On the ps3 however, it was quite enjoyable. I´m looking forward to exploring the skill tree.

Yes, you can't even change your companions armor anymore. And the combat was unintuitive as hell..but thats my 2 cents

Horrible demo. I don't see the actual game improving much from what I've seen. It seems every bad idea they could possibly think of was put into DA2. I'm worried about ME3 now.

Ah well, there's always Skyrim.

Loved the demo, can't wait till i can play the retail game.

Combat seemed a lot more fluid, and certainly a lot more thought out with damage modifiers on enemy status. Not a fan of the new voices (yet) but it's not like i got drawn in, the demo was just to short for that same goes for the "wheel". The opening story was entertaining enough, cliche perhaps but all in all i don't regret my pre order.

I bet that 80% of people who did like the demo were console players. They are used to this kind of casual ****.

While reading the threads I found certain comments that left me perplexed...so I would like to add my xp of the demo:

1) The swords are too big. Not so! Real life two-handed swords are "almost" that big (usually about 1.5 meters long).

2) Animations are jerky. Personally I did not experience it, but perhaps the reason some experience it is due to the activation of far too many graphics options (careful with "Ambient Occlusion", it really did kill my fps with dx11 activated).

3) Bugs. Personally I only found the Character Screen a bit difficult to access properly, and selecting options in the Tactics tab was a nightmare (I had to point the mouse pointer in a very specific place to highlight the various options).

Overall, I really liked the demo, I found it as fast paced (I hate poin-and-click MMOs) and tactical and gory in the right amounts that I wanted! So I consider myself lucky ;)

My only bad criticism is character development. The power trees only have up to 4 active powers, and I am used to the old DnD with 9 power levels...but that's just me ;)
