As much I dont want to, just seems the game was made for consoles and unless certain issues such as targetting, aoe casting, tab, camera views, etc are going to be addressed in the final game, looks like I'll be getting the game for Xbox. Guess I'll have to do without mods and better graphics for now..

What's your opinion?

I have to admit, I had the xbox first and I do have concerns about the tactical perspective with this game, but after playing the PC version of DAO and the fantastic mods, it would be hard to go back to the console.

I prefer PC for the mods. So sticking to that.

PC all the way. Console is god awful. The pause feature alone is enough to go PC. Having to hold down a trigger and then have a huge wheel in my face drives me bonkers. On top of that the targeting for console is horrid. Ya you can use the d-pad but if a mob is out of line of sight or something you can't even target it.

I actually liked combat on the console, but since I bought the PC version of Origins, I'm going that route. PC gaming gods FTW!

I cannot imagine playing a Mage without my bar at the bottom, I use too many spells too consistently to be locked to the four you have on the console.

PC all the way.

The AOE casting and tab are confirmed to be fixed in the release version. Not sure about the others.

So PC all the way for me.

I played the XBox DA:O for well over a year until I got bored and found the PC version on sale. Wouldn't play it any other way from that point forward, so I pre-ordered the PC DA II. However, if history proves itself I'll end up with both versions, just like ME1 and ME2.

hmm interesting can you guys shed some light on mods from DA cuz i only played DA on console so maybe i'll reconsider. What are the main advantages to mods for DA2 and how do they impact your gaming experiencing overall? I think it might be a shame not to play this on my Alienware after all..

thanks for your input!

It's funny because there are no mods.

Toolset is "to be announced", I hope they won't abandon it.

There will be. Every game gets mods, regardless of a toolset or not.

As to the PC version, it's like playing the game for the first time all over again.  As to the mods, they keep it interesting.  With mods you can make the game harder or easier.  The mod versions of the weapons and armor look better than in-game items.  You can cheat....er.....change your style of gameplay to focus on the story or you can amp up the difficulty to work on your tactics.  As far as DA:O goes, the PC version is better.  No clue on DA II though.

Sure ME2 got modded, but not with new content. Textures changes and that's pretty much it.

You can switch the radial menu to toggle on/off in the options vs. holding the trigger down.

Targetting is a bit awkward though on the consoles.  Especially if the enemies are all clumped together, it can be hard to tell exactly wich one you are targetting at a distance.  Maybe it just needs getting used too though.

I'm sticking to PC just because I like the input setup better.

I don't have a console, so unless they make DA2 for DS or PSP(wich they will never do) then its just PC for me. Dragon age is meant for PC anyway :P

But mod possibilities will be extremely limited and/or difficult if there won't be a toolset.

Mass Effect 2 and its "appearance packs" say hi.

Not talking just BioWare games. Stuff like Oblivion, Morrowing, STALKER, all were modded, new content included.
