I didn't know how else to word the title. This will probably sound like a nit picky thing but I wanted to bring it up, well, just because I wanted to point it out.

When you read posts in a thread on this forum the text in the table cell doesn't go all the way from side to side. It looks like this:

Example image from the DA forums

Compare this to a post from the NWN forums:

I know this may seem a little frivolous but I posted it because I really do think that because the text from the NWN post goes all the way across the cell it is easier to read vs. the one from the DA forums that doesn’t. I don’t know exactly why this is. I guess it is because in the DA post the text not going all the way across looks disjointed. Like it’s the result of some bad formatting.

I know it’s not a deal breaker and you’re right. But since I thought one was easier to read than the other I thought I would mention it. Never know.Image IPB

Thanks.

The solution offered in that thread only works in IE8, though (unless I'm reading it wrong).

I'm running IE7 here (I have no other browser options), and my text is limited to the right side of the forum.

This issue, which has nagged me too for a while, should be fixed at the site level, not the user level.

Seems like the site has several issues dealing with IE. Stuck with IE7 here at work and the experience is not ideal.

Firefox works much better for this site.

I'd like to see a screenshot of that. All of my tests have been done in IE8 using the various rendering combinations, and they all render the same way (text squashed to the left) except for forced IE8 mode, which renders correctly (but that's moot since the page forces IE7-standards). In other words, the adjustment I suggested should work for both IE7 and IE8. There may well be other reasons why that hack isn't feasible, though.

It certainly does, but not because it's better than IE8. It's because IE7 is a cripple.

I would like to know the reason for specifying the IE7 document standard, out of pure curiosity.

We've got a fix for this - look for it in the next site build.

We've set IE7 compatibility mode because we haven't yet had time to do a full bugfix pass of the site for IE8.

Great! I'm getting full width now. Much better! Thanks. Hope this fixes the manual refresh issue too.

EDIT: Doesn't look like it does. Image IPB I still have to manually refresh to see my last post appear in the threads list and then, once I click on the thread itlsef, I have to manually refresh to see my actual post.
