The one BIG thing that confuses me to no end is why you have to leave the Normandy to be invaded by the Collectors.  I NEVER understood that.  WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF LEAVING THE NORMANDY?  WHAT F*CKING MISSION WAS EDI TALKING ABOUT THAT I HAD TO TAKE THE SHUTTLE FOR, WHICH ALSO REQUIRED MY WHOLE SQUAD!?  WHAT WAS THE DAMN POINT!?!?
<_<:pinched:
I personally saw this as a PATHETIC AND LAZY EXCUSE to rush the game and give us a POINTLESS incentive to rush into attacking the Collectors.  I don't know if this topic has been discussed before but I'll bite anyways.  If there is ANYONE that can provide a LOGICAL answer, whether it is a highly knowledgeable fan, moderator or developer, please be my guest?

Yeah, that bit was handled rather poorly.

I'm NOT trying to troll and as I ALREADY said I'm not sure if this topic was discussed before.  I just want a REASONABLE and LOGICAL explanation for that poor excuse of a design choice for the game's story and what the point of it all was.

I never got this either. Plus, how does a shuttle for only like 6 people hold anywhere from 7 to 13 people? It never made sense, but what's done is done.

yeah i think it would've been far cooler if it happened when you actually went on a mission, you go save a ship from crashing or do Legion's loyalty mission or whoever and when the mission is over you get an extra scene showing Shepard and crew coming back to an empty Normandy SR1

you board and control Shepard, naturally the player will wander the ship wandering "wtf happened is this a glitch?" before you find Joker and the player gets to play Joker's flashback of the events (tho it still wouldn't explain all your squadmates leaving the ship on the shuttle)

edit: actually a really simple thing would've been for some of the crew to not get abducted because they holed themselves up in engineering with the squadmates still on board, with the explanation that the squadmates didn't save the rest of the crew from getting abducted because of seeker swarms throughout the ship (something of a plot hole anyways as to why they didn't use them)

The logical and reasonable explanation is pi** poor writing on BW's side, because there is no other rational explanation for that to have occurred. Unless of course the idea that they were all going to a big shindig/get plastered party on Omega makes better sense

You set the tone when you posted in caps, rant style.

Even in your reply to me, you couldnt help but to shout.

Words that I had capitalized were meant to show them as important words.  Also, there are thousands of threads and it would take forever to search through ALL of them, plus the manual type and search option doesn't always help.  I'm also aspiring to go into the field of science so "Research" is practically my middle name thank you very much.  So PLEASE stop de-railing my topic.  If you REALLY want to do a thread on trolls and repeated topics then do it on your own post.

Thats what bold, italics and underline font options are for. Use of caps is shouting.
You use google to search for everything else, you didnt think it also applied to forum threads? Thats what I used to find those 3.

There is no reason. That's the worst part of ME2. The whole "get in the shuttle!" thing is basically a way to get everyone off of the ship so the crew can get kidnapped. It still makes no sense at all, but oh well.

You already went through the trouble of recruiting your squad and gaining their loyalty. I'm pretty sure the Normandy's crew would *STILL* have been captured regardless, and capturing your squaddies would have added insult to injury while Normandy got Kazaa'ed by the Reaper IFF.

No worries. Hope this helps avoid potential misunderstandings in future.

Anyways, back on topic, I do agree. Cant remember if it was in one of the threads i posted links to, or one of the other threads that cropped up about the same thing.  I thought it would have made more sense for the "battle crew" to go and have one final shore leave on Omega, kick up their heels, let their hair down, and generally blow off some steam, and for the Collectors to pop out of the Omega 4 relay and attack the Normandy that way.
Still a bit on the cheesey side, but at least there would have been some form of logical explanation as to why all the battle hardened crew members weren't on board.

TIM: What the f**k were you thinking SHepard? Having a ******-up and leaving the Normandy unguarded?"
Shep: argh. Keep it down will ya. this hangovers a killer"

That's not "internet language." That's regular language.

If you want to emphasize a word, you italicize it or bold it. Underline is used when naming the proper titles of books, magazines, and something else I forget.

Capitals have always meant "shouting" in modern English.

I agree, it's kind of a funky mission. There isn't any reason for the entirety of Shep's team to load onto the shuttle, other than plot convenience.

However, playing as Joker and interacting with EDI makes it a forgivable tresspass to me.

It is, after all, a game - and games can occasionally skip some logic to get to fun parts. RPGs generally have a lesser tendency to do so because consistency with the setting is important - but I can't think of a single RPG that didn't break down once or twice.

Yep, it's that thread again because the horrible ham-fisted plot railroading in ME2 is never going to go away, no matter how badly you want to close your eyes to it.

In all seriousness, didn't EDI say that all non essential crew members should leave the ship when they were testing the IFF? I think that is why the squadmates all piled into the Klondike bar shuttle (that's what I call it, deal with it) in case the IFF ended up blowing up the Normandy, or you know, get it attacked by the collectors (I don't think Shepard could do much against a Praetorian in the close quarters of the Normandy, not to mention the scions shuffling around.).

I have to admit, Joker's line about Shepard being angry with him because he plugged in the overlord made me chuckle quite a bit.

I like seeing humans on their knees..............................................that was a joke

Loved it, although when I read the line now I hear GLaDOS' voice and not EDI.

See, now if they gave an awesome excuse like that, I'd let it slide.  But it seems like you're just supposed to go to "your next mission" in the shuttle so they can test out the Reaper device.  Fine.  But why do all 12 of your squadmates need to join you?  EDI should've just suggested you take your bros and go get some pizza on Illium while she tested that crap out.

After aquiring the Reaper IFF, I did not know where Legion was and therefore decided to go to a planet and was presented with the requisite cutscene. When controlling Joker, I made my way to the room housing EDI and found Legion lying there, Am I the only person who ran up to Legion just to see if he could be awakened?

This is the way it should have happened.

There should have been a mission where Shep & co landed on the planet, and midway through the Collectors would attack the SR2.

The way it was handled was odd. You get a cutscene with no explanation as to why everyone was leaving the Normandy.

There was a party to go to.
No point going with two others if you want to tear the place apart.
