Updated with info about problems when trying to re-patch Ultimate Edition to version 1.04 (which is already installed w/ UE). In short... don't.

Well, you could fix the mistake (You ARE a moderator, right?), they simply mentioned the electronic arts part in the path twice when it should only be mentioned once.

I upgraded to DA:ED from my original DA:O, but I stupidly redeemed my code for the DLC before I upgraded and none of my DLC is there anymore. Is there any way to recover it?

Ive been a fan and BIG supporter of EA games for 20 yrs now!

I ****ing hate EA for this, they should be ashamed of themselves................................why should any fully paying customer have to put up with these problems?!!

I understand your frustration, but this topic is not the place to express it. I suggest contacting EA directly at support.ea.com. Click on contact us, log in with your game account, and you can select the appropriate menu item.

You want a "spoiler" forum, not this one.  We want the word "spolier" added to subject lines when a TECH problem is intricately involved in a PC Tech situation, so that spoilers cannot be avoided, but you do not have any Tech Problem at all, anyway (and I wonder how Raen hadn't answered you that way already.  I suppose I must check up on him.  It's been eight days since he was last logged in on the forums, after all).

hey guys i found a solution posted else where i just thought i´d throw it in here to ( have not read all the posts here so if its reposted apologies for doing so )

Open a "Run" box. (Either from the Windows Start Menu or by holding down the Windows Start key on your keyboard and pressing the letter 'R'.
Enter "services.msc" and click OK.
Locate the service Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater.
Right-click on the service and ensure that it is set to "automatic". (Setting the service to "manual" will start the service when the game starts, but, due to a timing issue with both the service and game launching simultaneously, may not update your content authorizations properly.)

Next step:
Before launching game press and hold windowskey and press R ( brings up a "RUN" box ) then enter this "net start DAUpdaterSvc" and click ok

This solution worked for me and i got the original game on CD (After Installing it through the EA DL) and playing it on windows 7, 64Bit Home premium Edition.

P.S. I´ve had this issue on every occasion i either Re-inst, the game on my old computer wich was running XP, and on my new Computer ( OS posted above ) or after bying a new dlc. It dosnt matter if i Ran it through CD or the EA DL launcher...

just wanted to say i'm trying the memory leak fix, that says "use at your own risk" and i have to say combined with the random pausing fix.

my game has not run this good since i bought it 2 years ago. and in that time i was searching for fixes nonstop because my dao is the biggest headache i've ever bought.

thanks for continuing to try and solve this game's issues.

I was directed to this thread by sami jo with regard to rollback from 1.05 to 1.04. However, I could not find any related information in this thread, there isn't even the word 'roll' if you do a search of this thread.

"There is a problem with your game's setup. Please reinstal your game" Digital copy UE Win 7 x64

Not sure if anyone has run into this problem but I did. Needless to say I uninstalled and installed 6 times with many things changed and helped by live chat. nothing helped. Did manual uninstalls following steps given from EA's helpers including registry editing and that didn't work.

Looking through the game files on my pc I found this:

C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Dragon Age™ Origins - Ultimate Edition\\__Installer\\DISK1\\EASetup.exe .

once I ran it , it asked if I wanted to uninstall the game. This did a much more complete job and allowed the new install to work.

If this helps someone please put it in your list , thanks

I'm not sure whether anyone still reads this thread, but I have a workaround to contribute. First, the problem. DA:O crashes to desktop with this sort of error.

Faulting application name: DAOrigins.exe, version: 1.5.13203.0, time stamp: 0x4de7d0c8
Faulting module name: DAOrigins.exe, version: 1.5.13203.0, time stamp: 0x4de7d0c8
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000764a4
Faulting process id: 0x988
Faulting application start time: 0x01cc75e5d7ba359e
Faulting application path: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Dragon Age™ Origins - Ultimate Edition\\bin_ship\\DAOrigins.exe
Faulting module path: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Dragon Age™ Origins - Ultimate Edition\\bin_ship\\DAOrigins.exe

I bought DA:O when it first came out and played it on my old PC with a Core 2 Duo CPU and an Nvidia graphics card. This exact error (meaning, with exception code 0xc0000005) occurred a couple of times, but not often enough for me to do anything about it. A couple of months ago, a bought a shiny new machine with a quad-core Sandy Bridge CPU and an AMD Radeon graphics card and I decided to get the Ultimate Edition. As you can see above, it still crashes (so the error appears to be GPU-independent). Worse, it now does this more often. As far as I can tell, it happens mostly when multiple spell effects are in play (fabulous given that I'm playing a mage...).

Aside: seriously, Bioware? 2 years and 5 patches later and you can't fix a GPU-independent hard crash? Come on...

Anyway, the solution pointed out on these forums is to set the CPU affinity to 2 cores. I don't think this solves the problem, but it reduces the frequency of crashes. What I have not seen is how to do this once and for all. That is, you can do it by changing the affinity in Task Manager, but that doesn't stick and it's annoying to do it every time the game is restarted (particularly since with Patch 1.05 which is necessary to get the DLC to work, the game has to be restarted often or it begins to slow down... argh!). So, here is how to make a shortcut that launches the game with the affinity already set.

1) In the Start menu search box, type "cmd" (without the quotes). The cmd executable should show up in the results. Right-click on it and select Copy.

2) Navigate to the directory where DAOrigins.exe is located. For me, it is
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Dragon Age™ Origins - Ultimate Edition\\bin_ship
but this is different depending on the means you use the install the game. You can use the same Start menu box to search for it if you don't know where it is. Paste the cmd.exe you copied earlier into this directory.

3) Create a shortcut to the copied cmd.exe (right-click and select Create Shortcut). Rename the shortcut to DAO or whatever you like and copy it to the desktop or wherever you intend to start Dragon Age from.

4) Edit the short cut. Right-click on it and select Properties. In the list of properties, there is a field called Targer which has something like
"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Dragon Age™ Origins - Ultimate Edition\\bin_ship\\cmd.exe"
with whatever directory you have daorigins.exe in. You want to change this to:
"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Dragon Age™ Origins - Ultimate Edition\\bin_ship\\cmd.exe" /c start /realtime /affinity 5 daorigins.exe
Here, /c means to run the command and kill the cmd terminal, /realtime means to do this now, and /affinity sets the CPU affinity. The affinity value determines which cores are used. It works like this:

1 = CPU 0
2 = CPU 1
3 = CPUs 0 and 1
4 = CPU 2
5 = CPUs 0 and 2
6 = CPUs 1 and 2
7 = CPUs 0, 1 and 2
8 = CPU 3
9 = CPUs 0 and 3
A = CPUs 1 and 3
B = CPUs 0, 1 and 3

and so on and so forth. Note that the value is hexadecimal (hence the letters). I picked 5 (CPUs 0 and 2) because Sandy Bridge is a hyperthreaded architecture so CPUs 0 and 1 are actually the same core. If you have a Core 2 Quad or anything from AMD, you can use the value 3 if you want to load up the first two cores. There are other ways to accomplish the same purpose (you don't have to copy the cmd.exe, just mess with the shortcut some more), but I think this is a pretty simple one.

I think I have the "funky password" issue, but the link you have above seems to go somewhere else.
Connecting to EA servers issue - funky passwords:
http://social.biowar...8/index/5977279
What I have is I installed the game for the first time Sunday.  I try to log onto the Dragon Age server in game, I get past the ID and password screen, accept the terms of service, but then get an error that says the password is invalid.  Both my EA and Bioware passwords are the same and I am using that password.  My e-mail is approved.  Phone support suggested I check my firewall, but I don't see any errors.  I am running Windows 7 with Kaspersky as my firewall.  Please help.  Thank you.

Your message has been posted in the wrong thread and is incomplete. You'll have to do much better than this to get assistance, but I can tell you that the Kaspersky brand of protection gets no respect at all from experienced game players. It is just not suitable for our needs at all.
