There still his family, if nothing more than to spare his mother. But if
you have watched anything he has said there is a clear resentment of
mages. And how by an hour into the game the Templar's in Kurkwall don't
know your a mage is beyond me.
Resentment must, of course, equal always wanting to be a mage hunter out of "spite/ignorance." Ah yes.
I think you may have missed the first part of the live stream where Carver explicitely stated that what he wants is to find his own way. Which is, in my opinion, more than normal for a person of his age.
And it's "Kirkwall" actually, but otherwise I agree.

Somehow I doubt a completely temporary companion would have a Friendship/Rivalry bar. We had temporary companions in DA:O and none of them had an approval meter. I think that depending on your actions, eventually your sibling is returned to you, as harsh or depressing as the parting may be. o_o
yea lol if your sibling did die why would he/she be part of you legend?? im pretty sure they come back at some point

You could up Mhairi's approval rating. She usually received any leftover Origins gifts.

It's mostly that he was more lines. That's definitely a mistake.

Or they stay around to be part of the beginning of the legend? He didn't tell up to the part where the other sibling may have died. Carver/Bethany only needs to live long enough to stay for them to be recognized in the legend.

In that situation your gonna resent 1 of 2 things ether the Templar's or the Mage's.
Maybe he doesn't deserve to die. However it seems more likely that if you take him with you he dies. If you leave him home at rival he joins the Templar's if he like you he joins the Wardens.
Granted I'm not sure if this is true but it seems likely and if hes so easily swayed into becoming a mage hunter can you honestly say it was his own way? Or was it resentment?

the part that interested me most was Flemeth's interaction with Merril...could Flemeth be one of the old Elven Gods?

And that was my whole point and all I wanted you to think about. However, we'll have to agree to disagree on the rest.

If I'm not mistaken, Templars are 1/3 of the parties that power in kirkwall is pulled between. He has no way of joining mages, resentment or not, and the Qun is out. From what I've seen it seems apparent Carver wants power. He wants recognition for once. He wants the ability to well...not rot in a tiny shack on the side of nowhere. Templars are more than mage hunters and have been shown in the past to protect their chantries...they seem like a military/policing force, as well as that. It is his own way, especially if he avoids going after/bringing attention to Hawke, when turning him/her in would actually further his advancement.
