2 yes(at least for varric)
3 u can use both, but need to go to menu to switch weapon

I actually like that companions will leave, or that they will follow their own goals regardless of what you think. It makes it more realistic to me; you could end up completely friendly with every single party member and that never made sense to me. It's like, your actions have consequences and can sour a relationship. You shouldn't be able to make up for being a couple douche with a bottle of wine or a necklace.

I really, really hate this, again, and I don't value "realism" in this instance. Hawke and their companions are absolutely NOT equally important in the context of this story, and I don't care that the companions are their own people if it makes the story suck. One of the strengths of the friendship/rivalry system is that you don't necessarily lock yourself off from content if your characters don't like you. It's fine having characters leave near the end of the game- neither Morrigan nor Alistair ever make it to Denerim and I'm pleased, because it makes sense. I have no idea how Isabela or how effective it is, but I worry. Especially Carver's Deep Roads death absolutely sucked. There was no impact and it was very quick. There may be other ways that it can play out, but, well... It's not like I was ever going to get into this game without a substantial amount of metagaming anyway.

Fenris is still very adorable.

With the Isabela thing, the preview guide pages mentioned that if you WERE romancing her, it was different than the rest- I wonder if she'll feel remorse and come back. After all, Bioware suggested rival romances, and that would fit as part of one. As far as Fenris goes, I actually feel a little bad for him, and I'll be playing a mage. He's got a lot of reasons to be resentful (his sister basically trading him for magic? I'll bet that hurts more than lyrium brands)

As a mage now, however, the Anders quest in progress has my full attention.

What's weak willed about Wesley? It takes some stones to charge headlong into a Blight to try and get your wife out safely.
