I never got this option. I think the gay romances are different.
Also I never got the Flirt/Romance achievements for gay options. Only straight.
Also Hawke's uncle was like:

Thanks. Maybe one can't get that option with Fenris because he can't leave the mansion?...Anyway, don't like that too much. About not getting flirt/romance achievement, that is really messed up. I thought because it's just 1 romance achievement, doing any of the romances would grant it. Oh well,

Were you friendly romancing the LIs or rivalry romancing them?

i thought they had special unique ones, like isbella had swashbuckler or something like that. and sabastian (i know he's DLC so Klace doesn't have him yet) he has a royal archer secialaztion

Yes...those are the companions specs. They are already available to them. Hawke gets his own spec point to use at level 7, and another at level 14. You don't need to talk to anybody to learn them.

Seriously, this story has angst and drama everywhere you turn, I wonder if I'll be able - after 5 playthrough I suppose at this point - to achieve a normal (not even happy) ending for my tastes o_o

This. So this. Only I'd go so far as to wonder if I could play it again right away once I finish the first runthrough. There's such a thing as too much drama.

Far as Gaider being a little miffed about us "peeking"-- I've paid for two versions of the game, so he has my money twice. I deserve to look in the mouth of the horse I just paid good coin for, eh?

This.  If I don't come out of this game without a reason to just throw my keyboard at the wall, I can see myself never coming back to DA. I don't want to play a game just so I feel like I got kicked in the stomach.  I get that bad choices have bad consequences, but there needs to be a reward for good choices.

Mike said that class did yield different responses, but nothing very plot changing.

Mage: Yes
Warrior/Rogue: Some characters are more open to you if you aren't a mage.
