the spoilers have showed me or atleast confirmed that the story will be more epic than origins, if it turns out templars can be possesed like mages seriously the ramifications of that alone will destroy the chantry people wont trust mages or templars and the whole world will be in the brink of war

i knew it bioware you never fail at delivering a good story

and still dont get why gamestar said the story wasnt as epic as da1 seriously this alone > blight story

ERm...Meredith cannot be an abomination.

An abomination is a possessed MAGE. Meredith isn't a mage.

Perhaps it doesn't require a mage after all...

No, it doesn't.
But it's only an abomination if it's a mage.
If it's not a mage then it's not an abomination, just a regular possesion.

But wouldn't it be strange if she was a mage? To become a knight-commander as a mage would be a sing of ultimate badassery and trickery.

a possesed mage perfect plan hide your powers and infiltrate the ranks of your enemy and become the top dog of them seriously meredith must be pretty powerfull for her to be a possesed templar or be a mage abomination to not be detected

Maybe that's why Ser Gaider said that Meredith would kick Cassandra's ass to Nevarran and back if they were to get in a fight. Also Meredith and Cassandra (alongside Fenris) are the only characters written by him. I am sure he doesn't usually write minor NPCs. And he is quite good at twisty things.

I am going with the idea that Meredith is one option for an end boss. It is the only one showing up at the moment because the circle tower isn't in the demo. If you were to do this near the circle tower, I am certain the 1st enchanter is the possessed boss guy.

I still think the chantry falling apart or whatever has more to do with internal conflict then simple possession of one of their people. If they were asked about meredith being possessed, they would just say that it further illustrates the need for the chantry and templars as no one is safe from the EVVIL(with two v's btw) that is magic.

oh and obviously the templars would have blood mage stuff in their store rooms because they took it from blood mages they killed.

I've always thought the use of phylacteries was almost like some kind of form of blood magic. If Templars can justify the use of blood magic for the "greater good" (a term they used when unseating the previous Viscount of Kirkwall), a Templar in a different mindset might be open to possession...?

What an interesting twist!

Ya know, if the police finds crack or bombs, they usually destroy them not keep them in a "safe" place. Blood mage stuff is considered really dangerous, why keep those things in a warehouse in a crowded city? Why not out in a campfield away from innocents?

evidence, to study or research.

Maybe the stuff in the warehouse hadn't been destroyed yet and the chantry has a process for destroying blood mage stuff.

I read half of this thread, but I don't want anything spoiled like when KOTOR 1 and 2 came out, so I'm outta here, but it was fun ;)

Meredith being an abomination may also be what sparks the whole worldwide revolution thing. It breaks the mold so to say.

More precisely, it renders the whole "templars need to protect mages" thing completely useless. Now all Circle mages have to fear that their Templar guardians are abominations trying to slowly convert them.

Yeah its so awesome. Templars have no excuse for how they treat Mages anymore. None. Every excuse they had is now gone.

And down goes 70% of what the Chantry stands for

Interesting.. the plot is like The Witcher when the grandmaster ends up being the last boss.. regardless of faction.

I still think the end boss changes. Having the leader of the chantry be the bad guy irregardless feels a little silly.

i still don't understand why Cass would be interested in Hawke though. How exactly is Hawke supposed to help?

Aww screw it, most of this was already known/speculated. BioWare can't do major twists anymore anyway.

I don't think Orsino will be the end boss. My reasoning is:

***SPOILERS***
Defeating Meredith is a secret achievement. Orsino isn't. The other "defeated the" secrets are defeating the Rock Wraith and the Arishok. And if Meredith, a well respected and (in)famous Knight Commander Templar, was indeed possessed, would you want Templars protecting you? It's a bit disapppointing that there's only one end boss. Would have prefered there to be at least two. But defeating Orsino would probably mean the Chantry gets strengthened.

Expose the corruption inside the Chantry and Templar? Unless...Hawke hold something very powerful or knowledgeable that could cause great disater or change Thedas forever....well...I have no idea either.:bandit:

who knows if demon meredith is the only boss, maybe your character has the option to cover it up when cass finds them and thereby protect the chantry and allow it iron heal to keep protecting thedas from the abomination that are mages.
