Well, I have to hand it to Piggyback. This guide is incredibly "spoiler-controlled". From what I have been able to gather by perusing it, I don't see any form of secret companion. This may be because the entirety of the game seems to revolve around your main companions and throwing someone in at the last minute would be odd. It looks like there are a few ways to keep Anders without killing him, though you might lose Sebastian in the process.

It's easy to save Anders. Just don't choose to kill him.
We're still working on finding out if The Chantry has to go kaboom or if it can be prevented.
I don't think it can.
Because that's what makes Meredith invoke Annulment.
And that's what makes you choose to side with Orsino or Meredith.

But if you side with Meredith, you can still take Anders with you or you have to kill him?

This I don't know.

Ok. No problem for my first playthrough since I'll side with mages, for the second I'm sure more info are available, or I have already bought a guide, probably from Gamestop, it's less than 20 euros.

Zanallen, is it worth buying the guide or not? With how INDEPTH this all is, I'm tempted to buy one after my first playthrough.

I can assure because it's a 'piggyback' guide...it is DEFINETELY worth buying...that is the reason why I got it.

Prima guides tend to be as bout as fail as the bradygames guides are now( although the collector's edition for origins was pretty good...besides the spoilers in it).

*pretty much knows...he'll spend most of Tuesday reading through the guide...before playing that night*

Figures that Sebastian is going to leave. After all, he's closely associated with the chantry. It's a lose/lose situation either way.

Another question, Zanallen, is there a method to save Leandra? And Isabela, the only way to prevent her escape is giving the Relic to Castillion?

It looks like you need at least 50% friend/rival with Isabela before you deal with the Following of the Qun questline. You need to respond correctly during her "Mid-Relationship" dialogue.

As for Leandra...Anyone know when that quest takes place?

Didn't Mike Laidlaw imply that they had plans to extended the story of Dragon Age 2 pass the point of the original ending in the live stream they had yesterady? Or was I the only one who noted that?

I didn't pick up on that.

A little bit in to act 2.
It's a main quest.

Me neither. I'd be surprised if they dealt with the disappearance of Hawke and the Warden before DA3 though.

Rewatch the part where he is asked about playing after the ending.

Oh the guide looks awesome. It even has a nice bit in the back with extra lore tidbits like the collector's edition guide for DA:O had. I would recommend the guide, especially if you want a "perfect" playthrough or whatever as it seems like a number of missions have far-reaching consequences.

Having the Warden still be a voiceless cipher seems like it makes things difficult as far as continuing this story goes. Curious to see how its handled.

It would probably use the Default canon history.
In DA2 the Default History is Human Male Noble who did Morrigan ritual, executed Loghaine, and let Alistair become king.

My concern was that for him/her to show up in DA3, a voice would be required/

There is nothing specific mentioned, though it does suggest that you let the suspect from the previous main quest live to track down Leandra faster and also says that Varric has a very interesting reaction.

But there are 3 default import, not only one. And it will be bad if they force the Warden's origin to the peole who haven't played as a HN.

My favorite loading screen was: (not word for word)

Kirkwall declared the common nug
a noxious vermin in 5:20 Exalted over fears that the animals carried
the Blight. The extermination became known as the Battle of Squealing
Plains. It is not spoken of in polite company.

And my fave reference was the bartender saying how the Pigeon population in Ferelden was decreasing.

It's really difficult to follow this thread! There should be one thread comments-free with just the list of spoilers (or almost-spoilers), and another with just comments.

I didn't pick up on that.

I got more the impression it was just going to be similar to some degree as Origins in that we will be able to do any future DLC stuff post-campaign, he did seem to hint at something else but then seemed to follow that up with sort of a 'not totally confirmed what we're doing yet' kind of sentence. I think it was more to do with how they drop the extra stuff into the story, because of course the 'post-campaign' save in Origins had it so that things took place just before the big Archdemon fight, I guess if the story keeps a check on what gear you have at certain points, what with the framed narrative it would then be easier to drop events occuring in whatever spot they wanted. That's just me guessing that is, not saying that is definite.

Warden going off, to some degree I can understand, I am curious as to why Hawke would just 'disappear' though. Specially if they are the Viscount of Kirkwall. Maybe we'll get to Dragon Age 5 and then we'll have Warden, Hawke, <DA3 main character>, <DA4 main character> as our party involved in some epic battle going under the banner of 'Heroes of Thedas' :D

Getting to 50% friendship/rival unlocks a new character specific line of dialogue. I suppose it allows you to take your relationship deeper. The guide really only gives you an example of what to say to each companion at this point.

What does the guide say about same sex romance among the 5 LI's?
