You guys getting all upset about the lies and betrayal. Here'r a good explaination of another way to look at it: http://www.dragonage...-yet.62/#post-149

It's not completely true. Rivarly chan change things in an extent. I think, for example, that if we choose the rivarly path in full Isabela will agree on handing the relic to the Qunari. Otherwise, if the rivarly doesn't change anything, it's pretty lame.

It's got a mild point though. Ultimately 'Trust no one.'.

I would like to deny this, but what we've speculated so far about companions that can leave you, it isn't overly surprising.

Of course. But for the qunari thing, we know that we can choose if to fight the qunari or not (there's an achievment to earn the Arishock's respect, and I think that we can reach it with the relic). And I don't see how we can give the qunari the relic if Isabela escapes with it.
Again I want to wait before judging companion until I have the a full vision of every options and outcomes.

LOL.

The Chantry is bull. don't blame them? They control the templars, the created the circle. They are at fault.
If they were so concerned about Mages well being regulations would've been put in place long ago, they wouldn't string their templars out on lyrium.

Convinient, aint it?:? The the chantry is still blameless, and I can't romance Anders cause he's bad, even though I haven't seen the whole questline myself. I love it when people try to dissuade others from doing something in a rp.

Or condone the use of blood magic practices to hunt down mages. ;)

Edit: NVM. my bad. THe Chantry isn't anymore blameless than anyone else. I'm not saying you shouldn't support them (or anyone) but saying that they'e blameless and not at fault to me is just...

About the whole Chantry/templars/mages plot, I want to say that the mages of the Kirkwall Circle isn't responsible for Anders's actions, though Orsino seems a evil person like Meredith. And I think I can side with the mages and kill Anders if I want.

I wasn't trying to talk anyone out of their opinion, I was relaying my own. At least we can agree on that if not on anything else.

Ah. It is early. :P

Don't worry about it. I do it myself alot.

Though I like how they gave each organization serious flaws. There's no true "right" choice and that's what's gonna make this so fun. (And hearbreaking).

And so far this thread has proven to be invaluable to avoid at least some of that heartbreak in my first playthrough.

Just wanted to mention,  in case anything I posted was offensive....I don't want to dissuade anyone from anything.  Just putting my opinion out there for innocent discussion, that's all.  It's an interesting situation and I like to see other's reasonings.  *Shrugs.*  Sorry, in advance, if that was the case.

For now,  I'll set my cap at Fenris or Sebastian and happily skip my opinionated self to play Pokemon White instead.

I agree. And hopefull by the 11th I'll have more info to build my first playthough. Generally I don't do this, but this game is more complicated than the last I've played and in this period I don't have a lot of time, so I want to do my playthoughs  fully conscious of the outcomes.

You would capture innocent creatures, confine them into small balls, only to release them so that they fight their own bretheren until they fall unconscious or you otherwise abandon them?!

Well, we've heard that we can have all 8 companions by the end of the game & Nathaniel and Zevran and Aveline's new husband, so yay? Clearly there are ways to prevent them from backstabbing you. And regarding the Anders thing - HIS character might be the one where rivalry can come in handy. It seems to me like by being Anders' friend, you agree with his thoughts about Vengeance. A rival might persuade him to change his mind.

Yeah, like I said, I'm not trying to make anyone mad. :( I think it's a credit to the game writing that it can cause such debate. And @hhh89, I can absolutely see a mage killing Anders for what he did, I'm pretty sure it'll be an option.

I'm also sort of curious about the Friendship/Rivalry thing with Anders mattering again, because from what I'm getting, the guide pretty much implied that he's going to do this no matter what, yes? I just can't see a Rivalry Hawke doing anything other than killing him. It might have been cool to be able to convince Anders he was wrong that way and then have Orsino blow up the Chantry (since we fight the guy anyway). But since we're told we definitely have to make a choice...yeah. Probably not happening.

About Anders, Jennifer Hepler's post seems to suggest that with rivarly things could be different. But the destruction of the Chantry seems unavoidable.

I couldn't agree with this more. I cancelled my preorder of the guide on Amazon because of this thread- it would have come a day later than picking it up at the store, and I would have regretted that later. Oh man.

Oh Maker, yes.   Why do you think I support the Templars so?  XD  I'll go and name them all after prominent mages too, muahahaha.  *Swishes cape.  Lightning strike.*

That was.... All in good fun of course...please don't kill me.  <3  <- In Alistair voice, of course.-

I know. Going to friend him and see if being a friend and/or fellow mage will be able to persuade him to stop. Now I wish coercion was back
