Guh. I can live with choosing between Sebastian and Anders *sob* but pleeeeeeease let there be an option to "redeem" or "rescue" Anders. Or change the circumstances of the Chantry blowing up, even if the event itself is set in stone. I don't want my Anders to become a total villain!

This does confirm that my Anders romance playthrough will be a fellow mage, though.

Well, we did get to redeem or have Sten atone for killing the families he did, by helping us end the BLight in DA, and if you ever spared Loghain, even he could be redeemed, but with consequences. I don't see why the same couldn't be for Anders, with consequences of course. I wouldn't want it to be like "Saving Connor" by legging it to Kinloch Hold real quick to grab some mages and a snort of Lyrium. I want to be able to work to redeem him.

We have no idea at this point.

I hope so. The last thing I need is the thought that Anders will always be a child killer in my head.

He killed men, women and children at worship during a service.

I don't care what you say, he did wrong.

We don't know yet if he has no remorse or not.

Yeah, I wonder if we'll ever see that sword again as well.

We know that he has no remorse on a friendly path, at least. But I really doubt they'd put his rivalry path there for nothing. We can only see.

If he himself feels justified, then he would feel remorse for it having gotten to that point, but not for "justice" which is as Anders said "hard".

To destroy a new generation of the old generation of bad, would seem liable and "good" to him.

Remember, it is the victors who go the spoils and write history, no one else.

He also might have felt justified for all those mage children who were forcibly ripped from their mothers, just like he was.  Remember how much Isolde was willing to go through just to keep Connor?  She irritated me to no end, but I felt sorry for her.

This.

If there's a way to redeem ****ing LOGHAIN of all people there has to be a way to get Anders out of the pit he dug for himself. Somewhat, at least.

I think the key word here is "remorse" for Anders. If he has remorse, he's redeemable. If not, then . . . . . . . yeah.

Considering abominations rarely are controlled by the mage, instead it's the other way arround (connor was a kid, he couldn't possibly enjoy sending undead to redcliffe, it was the Desire Demon) who did the disgusting act was Vengance, laying dormant as Cullen said in Origins, but pulling the strings... just putting that out there... why not give the host the benefit of the doubt? like some did with Connor?

Loghain's redemption, however, came in the form of a few conversations that I had within 3 minutes of getting him.

I'd have to say that had he just let me talk to him for 3 minutes before we did the whole fighting and killing and assassins and what not, I might have been able to achieve the same result.

Point is, Loghain's redemption in the story counts for something, in the logistics of it... no.

---

Remember though, that Vengeance came from Justice, and Justice became Vengeance only because of the undealt with "rage" at a perceived travesty that was in Anders.

Haha, yeah... Connor killed plenty of people for more base reasons, but we got the impression that he really was being controlled by Desire.  Not so much with Anders... that we know so far.

Although Anders may seem like an S.O.B., it all depends on the P.O.V., B.F.F.

I'd appreciate you not putting words in my mouth okay.

Yes...perhaps to him, the death of a few (or however many) was in return for all those mages were treated unjustly and never given a chance...  and we're free to judge him as we see fit, it looks like.  It'll be interesting to see how I feel at that point.

well Connor's voice changed, but remember the introductory text from when Anders was revealed a LI, he didn't remember **** of what happened while Justice/Vengance was in control, while Wynne DID remember what happened when channeling Faith (saw somewhere people was comparing anders' case to wynne's)

Oh, yeah. She was main person responsible for a crsis that got her husband poisoned, got a castle wipped out, got a village on this brink of similar wipping and probably scared her son for life; just because she was afraid the neighbours might think if they found out her son was a mage.

To be fair; I'd probably be more willing to accept the interpretation of her being a mother who just did something stupid because she thought it was the best thing for her son if her voice wasn't so damned annoying.

OO IZ DEES woMAN teaGAAAHN?!

I really try to think that she did it for the love of her son.  Mothers would do almost anything for their children.

LOL probably I wouldn't have felt tempted EVERY. SINGLE. PLAYTHROUGH. to either sacrifice her or hit her and have her stab his son if she wasn't so annoying... but I can't help the soft goody two shoes in me and had to get the mages all the time, which's why I never got the Templars' help

I actually would like to see a character that you can not redeem or rescue due to the magical power of love and friendship/rivalry paths - much like Bishop in NWN2. It doesn't necessarily need to be Anders, though.

He seems to lose control in his first quest- when Vengeance takes over, he does the blue glow thing, slumps over, and screams "No!" So I'm not sure how much control he has.

With the Chantry thing though, it seems very premeditated. He lies to you about the potion and High Cleric ahead of time. But Hepler said in another thread that as time goes on and there's more Mage/Chantry conflict, Vengeance grows harder to ignore, so maybe that's it. I personally hope he still feels remorse later, but I dunno. I'm not holding my breath.

Bishop was irredeemable. I do not understand the love he gets. Sure, he is the only attractive man in the game, guyliner or not. But he is absolutely vile and would no doubt do horrible things to the player character, if given the chance. And he did.

It seems to me that demons dominate, while spirits form a symbiosis.
