I'm just curious how does a mage Hawke/Fenris LI relationship work if Fenris HATES mages?

Get enough Rivalry points with Fenris, and its possible.

Argumentative and you will be treading thin ice.  That's rivalry for you.

Myself, as well. I am also  wondering about the NPC flings I hear you can have, and how those work out. *runs back to the summary*

What does the guide say about same sex romance among the 5 LI's?

Sebastian is the only heterosexual companion. Everyone else is bi.

WTF

wHAT BULL**** BIOWARE I WILL BE MAKING A VERY ANGRY THREAD ON RELEASE DAY ABOUT WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU.

Just want to point out that it is in character for him.  Sebastian is very conservative and a monk in the chantry.

Never understood leliana being Bi in the first game myself, but I am glad they got this straight.

So...can I get Carver back later if I take him and Anders into the deep roads?

Vanallen said that you have to do certain quest, and he will return in the final act and joins you (I don't know if as a companion). Maybe if you do certain quest Carver and Beth can join you even in they remain in Kirkwall.

Quote from the poster with the guide (if I did the quotes right):

Zanallen wrote...

Well, as we should all know, if you
don't take your sibling with you to the Deep Roads, they leave the group
(Carver to Templars and Bethany to the Circle). If you take them, they
get tainted and die. However, if Anders is with your party, you get the
option to have them become Grey Wardens. Your sibling then leaves the
group. The guide then lists a series of quests that you need to do by
the end of the game. If you do them, your sibling will be there at the
start of the final act and you can have them join you again.

[edit] Though apparently this has been quoted at least once on the last page as well. My bad >_> Should've read the past 15 pages instead of skipping to the last page.

Thanks for posting that. Now I'm wondering which series of quests you have to do... Also, I thought it was Nathaniel that saved Bethany/Carver in the Deep Roads? Anders can save them too?

Fenris starts out neutral with you if you are a Mage, just like any other class.
You just get some extra dialogue.

Alright, I don't feel like reading through 200+ pages of this thread, so can someone tell me(with possible confirmation) If ALL the LI's in DA2 or Bisexual?

The 4 love interests you can have sexual relations with are.
The DLC character which is a chaste relationship (read: no-sex.) is a love interest but not BI.

I just don't wanna be let down, could you MSG me the link to the forum with the confirmation?(if it exists)

I don't even know if you would HAVE to go Rivalry. It's possible the PC could be a mage who doesn't necessarily believe in keeping them locked in towers, but agrees that due to their power there should be people specially trained to stop them should they go rogue (templars). I don't think he'd disagree.

How MUCH rivalry would I need for Fenris if I was a mage? Because arsonic brings up a good point. I don't want to disagree with him on all points just to get in his pants, so to speak.

Or it could go like this:
Fenris: Hawke, I love you. I really do, with all my being. But one thing stands in our way of true happines. It's you being a mage. I hate mages and I can't bring myself to love one due to my vievs on that every mage in existence should be tranquilised!
Hawke: ...
Fenris: ...So how about you become tranquil?
Hawke: (in Sten's voice) No.

She wasn't originally a 'chantry' person remember, she was an Orlesian Bard.

Once a Bard, ALWAYS a Bard ;)

Whereas despite Sebastian apparently having a 'wild' youth, I don't think it was that of a 'Bard' or other such profession that would make him bi.

@ brightredscream
you should probably pick one way at the beginning of the game. Either you support them (friendship) or you do what you think is best for them (rivalry). If you support them sometimes and disagree otherwise, you won't be able to max one out. And they get a Talent Bonus if you do.

There's a man from Orlais whose wife has disappeared, you start his quest and continue his quest to the end.

My GUESS is that you could do Rivalry most of the time, except when it directly affects Fenris (I.E., his companion quests). You want mages free but if any of them go after Fenris, they're dead. Which would make sense, I guess. He would trust Hawke personally enough after that to know she/he'd put their relationship above personal opinion when it mattered.

That doesn't bode well for the Anders theory of "If I don't help him with his quest, maybe he won't blow anything up", of course, but like I've said, I think the most we'll get out of him is regret, if anything. I have a feeling Bioware's got that plot point set in stone.

*facepalm* Apologies if this was more aimed at the person I was quoting but in case it wasn't.

The only reason I mentioned the fact she was an Orlesian Bard was because the person I quoted had mentioned how they thought it weird that Lel was bi-sexual JUST because she had been in the Chantry (am assuming that anyway seeing as their comment about Seb). Thus needed to point out she wasn't brought up in such a manner initially.

It is obvious if you talked to Lel in DAO that she actually found some of the women in the Chantry attractive and probably would have been interested in deflowering them if she wasn't trying to keep up the false pretence that she was a fellow 'sister'.

That's what I heard on the road anyway, take it for what it is. as Bodahn would say ;)

On-Topic: From what I've gathered, I am assuming the only 'optional'/missable followers are Isabella (am assuming you don't need to go speak to her if you don't want to? ), Fenris (Same as Isabella?) and Sebastian (latter seems obvious with him being a DLC follower) as the others are either with you from the start/near the start (Carver/Beth, Aveline, Varric) or you have to go 'see' for some reason or other (Merrill and Anders).

Hmm... can see it now... '3 Mages and a Dwarf' Mage-Hawke, Anders, Merrill and Varric :D

As for the sibling returning, wonder if can end up fighting them? Tempted to do a Male-Hawke mage that tries to push Carver's rivalry meter to 100% before he joins Templars pushing him to point of wanting to kill me :D
