There is no achievment to kill Orsino. Maybe there is an achievment for Meredith because she's stronger?

Indeed. I tend to go "The hell this is happening!", load a previous save, look back going "pfff.... those devs" as I shake my head and forget all about it.

Yes. It seems that both Orsino and Meredith are enemies at the end.

But I guess what I'm really asking is: Can we side with Sebastian AND save the mages? Like, I can condemn Anders for his actions but honor his will by trying to make life better for the mages? 

I don't know that. I think we'll need an official guide for that.

I'm thinking that it will happen like this if you side with the Mages:

You go to defend them. Fight's already going on. Get to Orsino -- and then there's a fight.

Meredith then catches up with you, aaaaand there's another fight.

I have a question: after you do Merrills side quest (where you kill her clan and Marethari), does she continue to use blood magic? Sorry if this has been asked before, but after shuffling through these forums, I couldn't find the answer.

Is Merill's specialization tree focused on Blood Magic at all then? It does seem to be a part of her character... Could you also tell me which mage tree she loses access to? I assume it would be Arcane or Creation, but you never know...

Ugh. It's like the developers don't understand the difference between "dark" and "ridiculously depressing". A Doctor Who reference was made earlier, and it seems to stand here. Doctor Who has "dark" moments. I mean, considering his history, his character alone is tragic. But the Torchwood spin off crossed the line from "dark" to "ridiculously depressing". It doesn't mean I won't keep watching Torchwood or I won't play Dragon Age II, but at this rate they're not going to hold the special place in my heart that their predecessor did.

I agree and was about to quote your post about the Meredith Achievement bringing this up, because I figure it would seem a bit silly to have the Orsino fight after the Meredith fight if the latter is as I've read it to be.

So as Rinjii said, I can imagine, you go to defend the Mages... Orsino decides at this point that you are a threat to his powertrip so he goes nuts and declares that when your dead he'll blame it on the Templars. Then of course once he's dead the Meredith fight occurs afterward.

Thus why Meredith has an achievement and Orsino doesn't, because she's the big boss of act 3, with Arishok being 2? (unless you can make them leave by handing the relic over and thus get the 'Worthy Rival' achievement instead?) and Rock Wraith act 1?

From what I have read so far it does seem to be very depressing however I am still hopeful that with some practice (or a guide) we can all make it to relativly happy endings!

BTW - have there been any screen shots of Alistair yet?

I'm used to depression in games by now.  Castlevania: Lords of Shadow?  Phew.  You wanna say "FOREVER ALONE"?

On leliana, I think people forget that part of her starting equipment in DA:O is a Seeker's Amulet. It shouldn't be surprising at all that she'd become a Seeker.

Hmm... So the rival path is the way to go if you wanted her to stop using blood magic im guessing? Or she continues to use it no matter what?

You cant!!! I don't like this feature. But the armor, compensating for this. Looks quite awesome.
