I know, it's hard to hear... but I guess he really was that important to the story to be the catalyst.

The only positive thing I can say is that I'm glad I know. I think I would have done something....rash had I been blindsided by it in game.  

True, true.  It's kind of sobering to know all of this before hand.  If I had been blindsided by in the game I think my keyboard would have been smashed to pieces, lol.  Now I have time to let it sink in... feel that weight... and make my decisions a little centered more around my character instead of gut reaction.

So how important is mage Hawke being an apostate to the story?

likewise, does the fact that warrior and/or rogue Hawke comes from an apostate family with an apostate sister play an important part?

IOW............is Hawke's apostate connection an important part of the story no matter Hawke's class?

Blowing up of The Chantry by Anders is unavoidable! It happens no matter what.
I guess it's an issue of morals. Whether or not you did his personal quest to have a hand in it.

So if you avoid the personal quest, you just aren't involved, correct? (Not that I guess you would know whether or not you're involved if he's lying the whole time, but eh.) 

I'm still confused on how the Rivalry works in terms of the quest, because the guide says to complete the companion quests AND be 100% rival/friend, but if I'm not mistaken, you said the way to get Rivalry points with Anders was to NOT do the quest, right? Argh. And I still think if I was his Rival, I'd want the damn spirit out of him so I'd do the quest anyway.

...but I guess if he blows up the Chantry either way, they might want a choice appealing to both. Hm. Still, the other ones, like Fenris, I mean, I might want mages to be free but that doesn't mean I'm going to hand a guy over to a slaver even if I am his Rival. There's a difference between rival and complete jerk, right?

I'm sure that there's going to be a chance to talk to Anders and hear what he has to say before you make the decision. Gotta make that decision just a tad harder to make, unless -- Klace, how much dialogue option DO you have with Anders once you confront him?

At least I'll EXPECT the ketchup to fly across the table and blow up the chantry.  My impulse would probably land Anders a murder knife in the back.

Hee. Didn't watch the whole thing. Just the last 1:30 of it. Mostly so I can say I've seen his death, because I hightly doubt I have the emotional ability to kill him.

Disappointing that all roads lead there, no matter what, though. Seems like F/R are just ways to get different sex scenes, and have no influence on the plot. <_<
