Ah, yes, destroying a Chantry full of innocents is totally excused in this case because Anders had a ****ty life. That makes perfect sense.

Yeah, I can't bring myself to agree with him at all... It's terrorising... It's wrong on so many levels... I just... I just... can't side with Anders on this one. I might even knife him in a few playthroughs... I might keep him in some but with rivalry, romance or not... Sebastian might get mad though...:(

The Chantry wasn't full of people (edit: in the sense that there isn't A LOT of people, templars and sisters are people) , unless they said otherwise in the Codex, because in the video I saw only templars and sisters. Again, this doesn't make Anders's act less worse.

Summary.

Just a gentle reminder about our dev's warning.

Lukas Kristjanson wrote...

A reminder for the late shift, spoilers stay in this thread which is tolerated only because it is clearly marked. No drift to other threads. And hey, as a personal preference, how about no giggly little "OMG, I just heard something, go to spoilerz!" posts. Seriously, don't be that guy.

And no more stream link . We got warning, too.

And for the save measure, I removed all the screenie you guys had painstakingly taken. Thank you. I will keep it in a save file and quard it day and night.

The bold ones are the updates since the last post.

Summary

1. Zevran appeared in one of the Sundermount quest. His screenie
2. Nathaniel appeared in one of the Deep Road quest.
3. Leliana appeared in one of the Basti quest. Possible Leliana
4. Fenris live in what possibly his former master's mansion (next door to Hawk's), Merill in Alienage, Anders in his clinic, Isabela and Varric, not certain about Aveline or Basti
5. There is a cap on levels, though I got very confused about the numbers.
6. Bethany has three endings: Join the Circle, Died in the Deep Road, or Join the GW (?)
7. Carver has three endings: Join the Templar, Died in the DR, or Join the GW.
8. The talking darkspawn Disciple appeared in the DR.
9. There is something about Meredith's eyes.
10. Meredith is one of the final boss.
11. Defeating Meredith is one of the secret achievement.
12. Some dialogue by Hawk's mother hinted she was not aware of whatever Hawk's relationship was in.
13. Hawk was  in Kirkwall when the news of the Blight was finished by the Warden reached him/her.

14. Fenris' former Tevinter Magister Master's name is Danarius.
15. A quick look at the erf files hints that these are some of the gifts for the companions. Take this as extreme speculation:

Anders: Key + an amulet
Aveline: Shield
Fenris: Book + a sword
Isabela: Ship?! + a talisman
Merrill: Halla?! + a ring
Sebastian: Bow

How to access the file from the demo: Program Files>Dragon Age 2 Demo>modules>campaign_base>data>designerplots in wordpad/notepad and search "gift".
16. There is a new blood mage speciality (?)
17. And Aveline/Quanary Quest Link
18. Fenris apprear to hate mage and thinks everyone should be made tranquil. (Possible only rivarly romance route for the mage Hawk).
19. Anders appear to hate Templar.
20. Merrill appears to be bi.
21. Cullen appeared in one of the guest, along with some guy named Wilmod LInk
22. There is a brothel in Kirkwall (right, very important to some of us!).
23. There is a blood mage sanctuary and it doesn't seem to be Anders clinic.
24. Carver and Bethany's codex entries
25. DA II Gaming guide
(possiblly partial)

26. According to the quides. Cameos from the Origins series:

Alistair
Leliana
Zevran
Nathaniel
Bodhan and Sandal
Cullen
Justice?
Sketch
Bonny Lem
Sophia Dryden

27.Infos floating around 4chan suggested Flemeth might played bigger role in DA II (possibly the spirit possessed Meredith).
28. Basti is an LI.
29. It is very strongly suggested Anders could be bi (from his flirt with H!Hawk and the traguil mage KArl he was trying to rescue).
30. The ritual mentionted in Merrill's backstory involves her chanting in Dalish and Flemeth pops out of the amulet (Lord Vordy in HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!). IT seems she put a little piece of her soul in it because she figured that Morrigan would come back with the Warden to kill her. She gives some cryptic advice and says that she's thankful, but she pities Hawke because of the road ahead. She then turns into a dragon and flies off.
31. Sandle was in game.
32. Zathrian was mentioned in game.
33. There is minore flirting line on Carver to Merrill!!!OMG!!!!
34. Merrill: "Why do they called it Brothel? Does that have something do to with broth?"
35. Cullen is now the Knight Captain (wow).
36. Fenris is also strongly suggested he is bi. We now have all 4 bi.
37. There are several Qunari related quest in Kirkwall (to my delight).
38. Fenris's preslave name is Leto.
39. Fenris had a sister, who was sided with Danarius, his former magister master.
40. One of the quest to separate Anders and Justice.

41. When going to the Deep Road, if you take Bethany/Carver with you, Bethany/Carver will contract the taint and you will have the choice to slay them or leave them in the DR. This is possibly when your Awakening import save file click in. Nathaniel will save Bethany/Carver by making them a Grey Warden.
42. If you leave them in their estate, Bethany will be dragged away and join the Circle and Carver will join the Templar willingly.
43. Mama Hawk could be died, too.

44. Zevran will flirt with you and tried to sleep with you, then your LI will step in.
45. The Warden will be mentioned by Zevran.
46. Hawk can sleep with Zevran.
47. The "relic" was a holy Qunari book written by the founder of the Qun religion.
48. The Arishok will not be allowed to leave Kirkwall until he finds that book.
49. Issie knew a along what the relic was.
50. During the Fade quest, a demon would offer Merrill a scion of the Dalish. Delined to let Merrill to do it will result in rivalry level inclease.
51. Merill has an Eluvian in her bedroom and her quests are trying to get it back in working order.

52. There will be LI confrontation.
53. Aveline will remarried and honeymooned in Orlais.
54. If you made Bhelen king in DA:O Harrowmont's relative is in Kirkwall.
55. There's a man being confronted by a group of dalish, and he said he used to be a werewolf, but the hero of Ferelden helped him turn back. And he said he was sorry for killing the elves when he was a werwolf, but the dalish still want to kill him. You can step in and help him, and the elves get angry and attack.
56. The subquests hinting the main plot: Mages V.S. Templars.
57. At one stage you will receive the letter from King Alistair, which triggered the cameo (assumed you let Alistair as king in Origin) of Ali and Teagan.
58. Cullen was also suspecious of Meredith.
59. Merrill was being used by the demon to complete the mirror so they can channel to the real world (Doctor Who!!!!!!!!!)
60. Merrill's Keeper was the demon (no wonder she looks different) and her clan will turn against you once you kill her.
61. There's an Orlesian woman who goes missing from her husband and the family suspects the husband. Do this quest, you learn more women have gone missing, KEEP DOING THIS QUEST.
62. One of the Anders ending (surely it depends on the Rilvary/Friendly scale) was He didn't want help separating Justice from him. He was concocting something to destroy The Chantry. He blew up the ENTIRE freaking Chantry in Kirkwall with some massive spell. Then Meredith ordered The Right of Annulment to execute every Mage in Kirkwall.
63. There are 13 different endinds.
64. Letter from Alistair quest is in Act 3.
65. Track down Zevran quest was given on the quest giver.
66. Morrigan is mentioned by Flemeth but no cameo.
67. It was Leliana who retrieved the book Cassandra tossed at Varric at the beginning of the game. It was indicated that she joined the Seekers in order to search for the Warden (KOTOR!).
68. It was the Grey Warden made Anders get rid of Ser Pounce-A-Lot.
69. New Zevran screenie
70. Anders will turned into Justice in the Fade. So do not take Merrill or him in the Fade quest.
71. There are a few ways to keep Anders without killing him, though you might lose Sebastian in the process.
72. A bartender in Kirkwall mentioned pigeon population in Ferelden was decreasing.
73. There is a rumour around you can married Basti if you are a female.
74. There is another way to save your siblings: Take Anders to the Deep Road with you. He's a Grey Warden.
75. To ensure your siblings returned in the future, do whatever quests that's related to them after the joining.
76. If you didn't kill Anders after the Chantry thingy, Basti will leave ( how charming).
77. You can have up to 8 active companions when fighting the last boss. Including NPCs if you do their quests.
78. If you side with the mages, Fenris will leave unless you have 100% friendship/rivalry. It looks like you get a second chance to rerecruit him if "you have a solid friendship".
79. As the last boss loses health, you can be joined by your sibs, Varric, Anders, Aveline, Fenris, Isabela and Sebastian. They supposedly show up in that order, baring you already having them in your party, being dead or having left you. The NPCs are, in order, Donnic (Have to have Aveline in your main party), Zevran and Nathaniel.
80. Donnic is the name of Aveline's second husband.
81. There´s an achievement for exorcising a party member.
82. if we choose the rivarly path in full Isabela may agree on handing the relic to the Qunari.

83. A quest comes up with a dwarf offering to give you all the money you need to go to the Deep Roads as long as you pay him back more. It's an easy way to fund your expedition. But apparently he wants more and more money and he has ambushed me at the start of act 2 demanding it.
84. So far it seemed inavoidable for Leandra's death.
85. Anders stole the Warden maps from another Grey Warden planning an expedition to The Deep Roads. He reveals this after Carver is inflicted with The Blight. Anders doesn't turn him into a Grey Warden, you do a quest to find the Wardens in the Deep Roads named Stroud. Who takes Carver away and says you may never see him again. That same Grey Warden shows up during the end of Act 2 saying there are urgent Grey Warden issues and they are too important to even help Kirkwall stop the Qunari war.
86. Isabella seems to be an optional companion, so is Fenris (TGP had confirmed the possiblity).
87. Leave Kirkwall in Act 2 with Fenris in your party to activate his story arc. Slaver/Sister. In this quest you can recruit an elf girl to be a servant at your home.
88. FemHawke doesn't want Fenris to leave, so she reaches out to grab his shoulder. He glows blue and gets mad, pinning her against the wall before they kiss and make out. HOT (OMFG!!!!!!!!).
89. Fenris will leave for a while but return later.
90. If Fenris is with you when you confront The Arishok at the end of act 2, he will use his knowledge of The Qun to invoke a 1 on 1 duel between Hawke and The Arishok.
91. Alaistar appeared in place of Stroud at the end of Act 2 with the Grey Wardens since Anora was queen.
92. Isabella WILL come back with the book, possibly, if you say you'll give it to her instead of telling her to fork it over to the Qunari. Or at least have a high enough gauge when you tell her that.
93. There's an option to give Isabella over to the Qunari.
94. Cullen will join you in the final fight (not sure if it's templar sided outcome or mage sided outcome).

If I have time tomorrow,at one point I might tidy this thing up a bit, putting things in order.

Also, Varric is know as a storyteller. Hes basically the classic bard in the sense that he can fight but his passion is in story telling. Now if only we can get him an instrument to play. ;)

One of his special skills involves humming a tune, the tale of how he Bianca came to be... But he's humming so... We won't know what Bianca is all about... So yeah, he actually IS a bard XD

Also, I think Anders is wrong in the sense he directly inflicted harm by EFFING BOMBING the Chantry. Terrorism, even though he means well (as in helping the mages... still). Loghain on the other hand had no choice but to pull out of a WAR because the beacon was lit far too late plus the battle plan was doomed to fail thanks to the glorious king... Just my opinion though.

I can forgive Loghain because he didn't WANT to kill the soldiers, wardens and king.
Anders WANTS to kill the Chantry people. Sisters, brothers, chanters, templars.

So Loghain is still okay in my book. Anders... FFFFFFFFUUUUU-- WHY???? Orlesian Warden-Commander Morgana Andras loved you!!!!!:crying:

No sorry, Loghain didn't want to kill Cailan? It's EXACTLY waht he wanted, because he suspected about Cailan and Celene. And he had on his hands at least the blood of Lothering people.
You have all the rights to consider Loghain better than Anders. To me, they made a enourmous wrong act, and as I'll give a second change to Loghain (while I not forgave him) in some of myy playthrough I spared him, I'll do the same with Anders.

Anywy, I found on wikia the name of four Merrill's unique spell:

Wrath of the Elvhen, Arlathan's Grace, Blood of the First, and Wounds of the Past.

Imagine if Alistair never left the Chantry and gets transferred to that particular Chantry. How is it that he has sinned? Because he's a Templar?

I know you say it doesn't make Anders' act less worse. It's just that even if the Chantry is completely empty, the intent itself is wrong on so many levels.

And anyway, the battle at Ostagar wasn't doomed when Loghain decided to retreate. The humans could have won the battle. loghain betrayed Cailan for its link with Celene, and the fear of Orlais. He probably though that the army can't defeated the darkpawn, but it could wait for the chevaliers, which he can't accept. I understand his feeling, but to me he choose the wrong path.
At elast, this is my opinion.

Does the Chantry explosion event trigger the beginning of the endgame? Or does the endgame only start later?

Yes, it triggers. But I think that you have the chance to talk with your companions in their home.

So does the last scene with the LI that the guide mentions happen before or after that?

Also, an unrelated question: is it realistically possible to be friends with all party members?

If you think about it, this is a spoiler, for DA3. The game starts with us learning they are on the brink of war, the war to free the mages. Killing Anders in DA2, may not be your best option to carry over into DA3, don't you think?  After all, would you want to be known as the person who killed Rosa Parks

It depends. Plus, even if you side with the templars, the Chantry started a war, probably because they want to kill all mages now.
Interesting, I think that some nations will be on the side of the mages. I'm quite sure about the dalish.

@hhh89 So he pulled out just to kill one person. Wow, that makes so much sense now. /sarcasm

He always suspected it but never acted on it. In RtO he realises his suspicions were (almost) true and being the father to Anora, says harsh things in defense of his daughter. Heck, even my dad said that he will punch my sister's bf to death when they broke up all of a sudden.
Even if he did intended to kill Cailan, he could have got an assassin instead, why wait for a war then pull out going "Lololol uve been pwned"

I can take Anders back in but I just can't forgive his actions. Loghain did what he had to do. War isn't easy. The darkspawn were far too overwhelming and they were doomed. He managed to save the lives of the team that retreated. Otherwise, all of them would be dead, no doubt.

You're definitely not the first to disagree with me. But I am not the only one who thinks Loghain had no choice. And I will end this here as I am going off-topic.

I think you can still lead a successful romance with Anders or Seb, as long as you agree with the one you're romancing in the chantry explosion business.

It does however look like Fenris's will be less melodramatic. But then again that's not necessarily better :P

I personally will romance Fenris first, then Anders in my second, and Basti in the third.

But that's just me.

I remember seeing Fenris slamming tables in one of the dev diary, now I wonder where was that scene taken place......

About Loghain, yes I disagree (though I made a mistake with my previous post, I meant that he wanted Cailan dead. He had other reason for the retreat, but I don't approve them). To close this, I recruited him some time, but I never forgive him (especially with my HN). I gave him a second change though.  As I'll do with Anders.
But anyway I'd like to discuss about Loghain with you. I like to know how other peole think, and I have other things to say about him. But it's off-topic. If you'd like to discuss about him, feel free to PM me, or point me a thread about him :)

Fenris seems quick to anger and has some questionable, but understandable values. However none of his actions during the game seems as reprehensible as bombing an entire chantry full innocent people.

+1 for anders. while his actions a rather dubious it proves that templars are not suited for their work.

damnit i need to wait 3 more days before i get the game.
