Yo dawg, I heard you like templars, so we put a templar next to your templar so he can guard your other templars. xzibitface.jpg

That's basically what the Chantry needs. Templars to guard their templars to guard the mages.

I think that's what the Seekers are, in essence, but they've been doing a ******-poor job.  Or I don't know, I guess I might see more of them in the game once I play.

Interesting, it seems that at the end of the game the factions are more than two. The templars apperently rebelled against the Chantry.
Also, it seems that Leliana and Cassandra share the same grade. Leli isn't a subordinate of Cassandra, and before talking to Varric they made a plan.

Really, is that for certain?  Did you see an ending with Hawke siding with the Templars?

I think you're right on the money, except from the DA wiki, it says that they watch over the Templars, but their role is to guard Templar secrets as opposed to having a leash over their necks at all times.

This was the ending with Hawke sides with the mages. Maybe the things are different if you support the templars, but somehow I doubt it.

I'm beginning to see a point where Hawke is, in the end, the catalyst for all this to happen.  My Warrior or Rogue Hawke may think differently, but my Mage Hawke may see that he/she AND Anders have started this mess.  It's inevitable now.  Time to see it through, either way.  May have to force Anders to finish what he started, too.  ;) I think that in itself would be justice.

I do like the idea of sparing Anders in a "you started this, now you're going to help me finish it" kind of way.

That's another way to make someone atone for their sins. Death, in some ways, is the easy out. Making a person toil to correct what they've wronged is the longer, harder, more thorough. And I usually prefer the latter.

maybe the spell is cast when the blood is taken, sort of an initiation Ritual. The blood is taken, the Senior Enchanters do the Spell and the First Enchanter welcomes you to the circle. That way the Templars just have to take the phylactery and can start the search.

Especially when Anders seems to have no remorse about dying.

So I'm curious, if you side with the mages and kill Meredith, does Cullen become the next Knight Commander? Or does he rebel against the Chantry too? I heard he lets you go after killing Meredith, but the thought of him rebelling against the Chantry is pretty weird, given that DA:O has delineated him to be ruthlessly prejudiced against mages.

I wonder how letting Anders survive will change things.  I'm willing to find out with no regrets. :o

Yep, after seeing that endgame video on youtube, it looks like the mages everywhere claimed independance and templars separated from the Chantry to slay them all their own way, while the Chantry seems to be wishing to put some sense on both sides. Cassandra specifically says her purpose on finding Hawke was finding someone the mages will listen to.

I'm glad the Chantry didn't support the templar's "kill 'em all" mode, hopefully this will give a better understanding showing that not all who believe in the Maker are cruel tyrants when it comes to mages.

I want to say that I really like what Bioware made with Cullen. Despite Hawke sided with the mages, he still don't want Meredith to kill him, and then turn against her when he saw what she become.

We know tha templars in general rebelled. We don't know what Cullen will do. Maybe he joins the Chantry, because he templars seems to become more "evil" when the Chantry wants peace.

Did anyone romance Leliana as a mage in Origins? I did. I wonder how these events affected their relationship providing the Warden didn't disappear beforehand.

Playing through the demo again, and watching the Flemeth scene...I'm almost convinced she's an Old God. If it was Andraste, why did she teach Morrigan the spell to preserve the soul of an Old God, and why was she so eager to stop the Blight? Unless she's an Old God, and she wants to free the ones that are left. The only way to do that is to stop the Blight. She probably figures even if Morrigan has the Old God child, he'll turn to her side simply because he's an Old God like Flemeth.

She saves Hawke because she sees that he/she's going to cause strife in the Chantry and rock its power no matter what- which, if you were an Old God who got struck down by the Maker, you would want. A perfect time to strike. And then the Warden and Hawke both disappear- the Warden knows about the DR, Hawke knows about the amulet. Flemeth could have done it, or maybe they're working together (for or against Flemeth, I suppose)

But there will be variables in her plot- can Morrigan actually stop her? If you did the Dark Ritual, and you find the child later (maybe grown up, heck, he could be the PC like the rumor was this time), could he decide not to follow Flemeth? And if you, say, side with the Maker, is it necessarily the right thing to do?

(I need to speculate to keep the mind busy till midnight, haha)

I wonder how it differs when you side with the Templars. That would be interesting to know, too. I guess the world's being sucked into war either way.

And I wouldn't go cheering Cassandra for her efforts on peace quite yet. We are told that Cassandra wants Hawke so that the mages can listen to reason, yes. But at what cost to the mages and the chantry? What exactly are their terms? She doesn't really specify.

Plus, she and Leliana have a previous plan to put in act. But for this moment I think they want peace.
I really hope that in DA3 there will be another PC. I want that The Champion is with The Warden.

Oh no doubt peace is on their minds... I really preferred Leliana's version of the Maker over what he is now.  But she was shot down for that, too.
