Unfortunately couldn't be the Warden's Dog. He's bound to the Warden. This is proven true in the Witch Hunt Addon. I just wish he was in Awakening but I guess he had to stay back at court for that adventure for my game. Mabari are wierdly loyal like that.

But I did like him and am wondering if the SE Mabari warhound will be the same.

I would say with no hesitation whatsoever Alistair. His character was my favorite thing about the whole game and the reason I played it multiple times. His script was wonderfully written and voice-acted, he was total eye candy, and because of him I made a real emotional investment in the game. I'm going to miss him a LOT playing DA2.

I'd go for Morrigan otherwise, as she's always been my favorite, but I pretty much had enough of her after 7 playthroughs with her, aswell with Leliana. I'd get Oghren, just hearing his voice makes me laugh.

Zevran. At least once he sorta confesses his feelings for you he doesn't dump you for the good of the people.
The old Oghren - for the lolz. Oghren in Awakening was just a bit too depressing for my taste.

 leliana, she as cute as merill, and has a tortured soul. The girl just needs a little more loving.

i wouldn't mind catching her at shop looking for something to give my mage warden, and maybe asking hawke for a little help. not at all

There are a few that I'd like to see again.  But an appearence in DA2 wouldn't make sense for most of them.  There's only one companion that I'd like to see show up and that could also easily be dropped into the game -

Zevran for the sake of having another rogue (and male) dual wielder (and because I'd just love to see him and Isabela in party banter, probably the best ever!).

Even though she isn't my favorite character, Leliana would be awesome for DA2...if only to see her fight in-game like she does in the Sacred Ashes trailer in Origins. (I'm loving DA2's combat so much more...and she'd fit right in with the new flashy animations).
