There is a difference between willingness to die and whether or not you happen to be better at the whole combat-tactics thing.

Willingness to die and willingness to live to fight another day heavily factors in the whole combat-tactics thing. The former is any good only if you haven't got much choice anyway.

We sure know that the organization employs many, er... non-liberal individuals. But at the same time "the ends justify the means" stance should preclude TIM from passing up a good "operative material" if he sees one, just because of sexual orientation (same as he doesn't shy away from working with aliens when necessary). However, openly employing gays alongside all the conservative folks would create some unwanted tension, in the very least.

Liberal and conservative today doesn't mean the same thing it did 50 years ago in America.  It certainly doesn't mean the same thing outside of the United States..  It stands to reason that it won't be close to 200 years in the future with a international/ one world government.   As far as we know, Cerberus might be one of the most pro-gay organizations that humanity has.

Note that Clinton was the one who enacted don't ask, don't tell and the Republican secretary of defense (admittedly under a democratic administration) that led the policy's repeal.

You do realize that the United States is no longer the powerhouse country it was in the ME universe.  India on the other hand is one of the the wealthy regions.  Those seem to be huge 180s.

Religion is one big reason why homosexuality is not accepted.  Religion, as stated in the codex

Moreover, Cerberus seems to be strongly controled by one man.  So even of the people didn't like gays, the IM runs the organization, not the people in it.   While Cerberus is a powerful organization it is still a rogue gurrillia style organization.  It  can't afford to turn talented people away from its ranks. Hence it would be in the IM would force the policy on his organization whether the people in the organization liked it or not.

Actually, the policy was a major improvement over what had existed before. But it's better that it be gone now.
