Anyways, my specs are:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium Edition
CPU: Core 2 Duo P7450 @
2.13GHz
RAM: 4GB
Video Card: Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express
Chipset Family (the one already mentioned)
I tried this with the retail and digital versions, I didn't had success with the retail one, but retrospectively I don't think I followed these exact specs. Anyways, my point is: this WILL work with a digital copy, with a physical one, I'm not sure.
Steps:
1 - Buy the game from an online distributor. I got it from the EA store, with Steam it should work fine too.
2 - Disable UAC (User Account Control). This Link (http://www.mydigital...c-in-windows-7/) provides a lot of info on how to do it.
3 - Go to C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Mass Effect\\Binaries Right Click on "MassEffect.exe", then go to "Compatibility", check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)". I also did the same with "MassEffectConfig.exe", "MassEffectLauncher-MCE", and "MassEffectLauncher.exe" (this one is located on C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Mass Effect) just to be sure.
4 - Create a shortcut to "MassEffect.exe" and run the game double clicking on it. DO NOT TRY TO RUN IT USING THE LAUNCHER, as the game will crash miserably.
In terms of fps, is really crappy I admit. Only by setting everything in the lowest display quality and in 800x600 resolution is decently playable. Areas like the citadel will lag, but the rest goes pretty smooth.
Hope this helps anyone, good news is that at least for ME2 you don't have to do all of this hassle, it runs through the launcher perfectly on Win 7 with the Intel GMA x4500mhd (with low setting of course).
PS: As a bonus, I use this software to save resources and improve my fps: www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html
