Well Aradace, thank goodness for the rest of us that the writers don't cater for your discomfort and are more open minded. If the mere knowledge that another gamer on another continent is able to initiate a same-sex romance with one of the characters is that off-putting to you, well I actually think that's really sad. Sad for you, that is. You're missing out on game content because of the existence of other content you need never see if you choose not to.

The rest of us, well the rest of us can just carry on enjoying the game :)

Unfortunately corporate marketing departments and mass media outlets do cater to his discomfort.
Lipstick lesbianism is today mostly okay in that people are mostly indefferent to it (most men will probably claim its hot) however male ****** or bisexuality is still unfortunately perceived by some to be an assault on their manhood.
It unfortunately takes an amount of gumption that most corporate executives and marketing people simply do not have today to go against the prevailing standards.

Ive never hidden that fact.  Dont get me wrong, Im glad you guys are getting this option.  Hell, Im even turning it into a positive on my end lol.  And that positive has been stated more than once in my previous posts.  Ive never tried to hide, or deny, the flaws in my personality.  We all have flaws.  The difference between myself and most people is that a.) I embrace my flaws and dont try to hide them.

b.) I dont hold the pacifist belief that everyone in the world should "get along and hold hands while singing kumbah-yah".

I feel the same way about having gay/bi characters shoved in my face the same way you guys feel about constantly having "strait" characters shoved in your face.  It's two sides of the same coin when you think about it.

You do realise that this is not being supportive, but just patronising? You offer nothing to the discussion. Takes one to know one.

I never claimed that it did offer anything now did I? Posted Image Before that post though, I was for the most part giving my opinion on the discussion.  And when I was saying that I was turning the negative into a positive, I wasnt patronizing or being sarcastic in the least.  I was being completely serious when I said that Im happy for the folks getting this.  Which for me means more central focus on the story, and sidequests and less on worring about what LI I want to "romance" on this playthrough.

Ehh I highly doubt it, most likely two or three of the four will be bi at "worse" one. Just as in DA:O with its 2-2 split. Keeps everyone happy but the over sexualized of us here.

It doesn't keep everyone happy though does it?

A straight-identifying player who wants to pursue a straight relationship has 2 LIs to choose from in that situation; a gay-identifying player who wants to pursue a gay relationship has 1 LI to choose from.

Straight mHawke: Isabela AND Merril
Straight fHawke: Fenris AND Anders
Gay mHawke: Fenris OR Anders
Lesbian fHawke: Isabela OR Merrill

Wanting to be granted the same choices as other gamers does not make one 'over sexualised'.

Nicely put, catabuca.

It makes me wince when people say gays want 'special rights', when ALL we want is the SAME RIGHTS as straight people...

(...and the same amount of LIs in game! Maybe gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell should write about this!)

I voted yes because I would love to be able to fall for Isabela or Merrill per personality attraction, rather than cause I'm forced to fall for Isabela cause she is the ONLY bi interest...

Im not saying one way or the other at this point as to whether they are or arent. This could all be some elaborate hoax for all I know. But it would be about right though. Because I actually love everything so far that Ive seen about DA2. Its only fair that I have at least ONE thing I hate about the game. With that, we'll see March 8th.

I voted that they're all bi, because I want them to be.
A more reasonable guess would probably be that they're not, but I still cling to what little hope I have left.

Except that with Bioware's definition of male bisexuality we get that anyway as the bisexual male will continously remark on his fascination with the other sex even while you are persuing a same sex relationship, though in all honesty that has more to do with Biowares writing than anything else.
Yet they likely do that so that strictly straight players (who are not put off by metagame knowledge) will never have to feel uncomfortable with any character because you have to go to arduous lengths to get them to admit to wanting to experiment with you, whereas they will likely intiate the flirtation on their own when it comes to the straight relationship.

Exactly. There were a lot of people who didn't like Zevran as a LI and wanted to romance Alistair with their male Wardens instead, but they were unfortunately only given one option. So I doubt they were very happy.

Same goes for people wanting to romance Morrigan with their female Wardens instead of Leliana.

And not everyone has access to mods. Choice is far better and more meaningful when implemented in the game proper.

It actually wouldn't.

"Oh hey Anders. So you're actually into guys because you're possessed by a demon? Well, that doesn't have unfortunate connotations at all. Nope."

Fair point, Finis, but that has more to do with the characters in DAO.

Leliana, for example, talks about her ex-girlfriend and other women, but she never mentions men.  I'd assume she's a lesbian unless she's romancing a male Warden.

And Zevran being a womaniser has more to do with him than being the bi-interest.

But your point is valid; I hope BW don't make the male bi-interest a womaniser again.

For reasons that have nothing to do with discomfort but rather just story-telling and character development, I confess I am not a fan of the "they're all bi" concept (even though I am oddly hoping both Anders and Fenris are available as LI's for m!Hawke).

That said.... based on some of the reviews we've been getting hints of so far, I'm going to vote "they're all bi".

What's intersting is that s/s romances for Kaiden and Ashley were recorded, and the Ashley one was even rendered.   They're still in the game files, and you can see them on YouTube.

Then removed before the game was completed.

There always seems to be a battle of wills in BW games to me.  Someone evidently likes the s/s options, and someone  evidently keeps removing them.
