It's funny, I'm a completely straight male, and you have have no idea how much I want both male LIs to be bi - if only to make up for the absence of m/m stuff in Mass Effect.

If they're all bi, then that's.......that's just fine.... :o

I like the way you think!

As for the concerns of shallower romances... I can see the point, I really can. Whether the romances would be shallower because of the added bi option or due to the different direction the game has taken, that's another question.

That's an awful big leap though. Gaider himself has assured us in a previous 'All Bi LIs' thread that if they implemented romances in that way we shouldn't leap to the conclusion that they'd try to do it in the worst way possible. You're basing it on a whole lot of what-ifs. If they didn't think they could do it justice they wouldn't do it, period.

You keep saying it catabuca (in various forms), and they keep not listening (it feels like). I'm awed at your mental stamina.

I understand people miss the stuff that has been said a million times before, so it's no problem repeating it. When things get repeated several times in the space of a few pages though ...

Yes, ME2 style "romance" Maker preserve all us warm blooded creatures from that...  However, there is hope, that cutscene with Isabella jumping male Hawke, nothing like that in ME2.

I know you have your reasons not to like Mass effect 2. But a bit of objectivity doesn' t hurt. :P
The scene with Isabella looks almost exactly like that of Jack jumping on shepard. Pragmatic Version sex. ;)

Whether they do do it justice or not ... well that's always going to be subjective and in the eye of the individual player.

Not saying "worst way possible," just whether or not it can compare to Origins.  You don't get something for nothing.  We have less game time-wise, and you're expecting that you'll not only get more options but the same depth that you had in Origins?

Honestly I'm prepared for DA2 to be less engaging in general, more like ME2 and less like Origins, but I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

That's what I was thinking.  When I say I don't want ME2 style romance, I mean I don't want a brief cutscene suggesting a roll in the hay and a couple rushed conversations.  Honestly I thought the Origins romances could have been a lot more developed than they were.  It just sounds like we're going in the other direction, though.

Guess we'll see.

Personally, I think people are allowed to be as cautious/fearful as they are optimistic. I am, of course, hoping that all fears concerning story and characterization will be alleviated/proven false, but only the game can do that.

Really, until we play DA:2 for ourselves, being fearful that something has changed and become... less involving than it was in DA:O as a result of other areas of the game being expanded are valid concerns.

In summary: All opinions are welcome here. =)

Although I prefer mass effect to dragon age, I must admit that the romances and the relationship with the characters are much better in Dragon age.  :)

That's why I hope too they have not kept track of mass effect 2. :)

Well, to my knowledge I haven't divulged all my reasons for not liking ME2... I could summarise it thusly though: Too much "bang! bang!" and not enough banging...:o

But anyways, I didn't know this because in my playthrough I was femme Shepherd and though I fancied the pants off Jack, far sexier than distant Miranda, unfortunately, this doesn't happen for femme Shep. Which, I gues, is another reason for disliking ME2.

While I would love for them to all be bi, I see no chance of that happening.

"There are no homosexual romances in DA2"

~2 million pre-order cancels in the first day, another 7 million by the end of the first week...every fan fiction annihilated, all our fan girls on the run, regrouping, somewhere. Reports are coming in from other major sites, its a well coordinated marketing campaign, and so far it had been damned effective. Don't know why they've done this, who they are, or what their goals are...only one thing is certain: If Laidlaw doesn't bring help soon, there won't be a DA left to burn...

That's an awesome pic. All four in a bed. Well.....Lady Hawke will probably kick out Isabella and Merrill.

The boys can stay and play~

And I have no idea if they're all bi. It's a big possibility but I kind of doubt it.....so my final answers is NO!

I wish they made it so every game you started, every NPC was randomly assigned as gay, straight, bi, or "not with you, ever" and you just had to figure it out.

Actually that would be pretty hilarious. If only for the angry cries of a million fans.

Why???

Isn't it healthier to be fixated on romance rather than violence?

I am just very happy to see this thread reach the ripe age of 32 without trolling, fighting, or devolving into lunacy! Hooray!

Uh...maybe I should just shut up before I jinx it.

Anyway, my hope is that everyone is bisexual because, in all honesty, it's all bonus for Bioware and makes an enormous impact with fans.

DAO established that s/s relationships are neither shunned by society, or even considered overtly unusual. From a writing standpoint, it's very possible to present romances in specifically non-gender referential ways. A few extra lines of dialog here and there can pay tribute to the specifics of a relationship without every conversation being tied up with "I am a woman, you are a man, look at our naked female and male bodies with differing anatomy," or "It is remarkable that we are both (wo)men and engaging in romantic actions between members of the same gender."

Looking at the romance mods on PC, in large part they work because much of the interaction is gender neutral. In both ME and DA, the romance scenes themselves are scripted, wire frame events with similar (even identical) movements, gestures, and footage allowing even the physical interplay between characters to apply to all gender pairings.

So, with relatively minimal extra effort, you make a decent-sized chunk of the consumer fanbase very happy while taking absolutely nothing away from everyone else. You don't want to romance a same-sex teammate? Okay, then don't choose the "I have a question about our...relationship" option in the dialog wheel. It never happens and (as some people complained about Zeveran) your character never gets sexually harassed by your companion.
