I am just very happy to see this thread reach the ripe age of 32 without trolling, fighting, or devolving into lunacy! Hooray!
Uh...maybe I should just shut up before I jinx it.
Anyway, my hope is that everyone is bisexual because, in all honesty, it's all bonus for Bioware and makes an enormous impact with fans.
DAO established that s/s relationships are neither shunned by society, or even considered overtly unusual. From a writing standpoint, it's very possible to present romances in specifically non-gender referential ways. A few extra lines of dialog here and there can pay tribute to the specifics of a relationship without every conversation being tied up with "I am a woman, you are a man, look at our naked female and male bodies with differing anatomy," or "It is remarkable that we are both (wo)men and engaging in romantic actions between members of the same gender."
Looking at the romance mods on PC, in large part they work because much of the interaction is gender neutral. In both ME and DA, the romance scenes themselves are scripted, wire frame events with similar (even identical) movements, gestures, and footage allowing even the physical interplay between characters to apply to all gender pairings.
So, with relatively minimal extra effort, you make a decent-sized chunk of the consumer fanbase very happy while taking absolutely nothing away from everyone else. You don't want to romance a same-sex teammate? Okay, then don't choose the "I have a question about our...relationship" option in the dialog wheel. It never happens and (as some people complained about Zeveran) your character never gets sexually harassed by your companion.
