like i said if you had squaddies die you should have no new squadmates given to you you work with who you have left

Of course that's how it should happen! But do you really think Bioware would do that?

Not to mention, they would give everyone AT LEAST two new squadmates so that newbies can play and have a squad.

I don't think this is going to happen. If they lived, most of the squad from ME2 would probably move on. I can see many members from ME1 coming back though not so many from ME2. They all kinda had there own thing going on and they did only sign on for the suicide mission.

I think there will be a few new squad mates in ME3. The ME2 squad will probably disband before long, they did have their own lives afterall. The only ones I can see staying are Garrus and Grunt. Miranda and Jacob will return to Cerberus, Samara to Asari space, Legion to Geth space, Tali to the Flotilla, and Thane to his son and deathbed. Jack might stay on but that would probably depend on her opinion of Shepard. IDK 'bout Kasumi or that old guy.

I'd like to see as few new squadmates as possible... just a couple for the noobs that didn't have an import. I'd like all my returning squadmates.           Tali can be exiled (so Flotilla isn't always an option) Samara can be killed and Morinth would have no need to return to Asari Space, Miranda if taken to the final battle can quit Cerberus. and Legion or Grunt for that matter... can be sold to Cerberus.

In short.... ME2 is designed to allow for everyone to stay on board because they are loyal to shepard and want to see out the end of the Reapers.    Or...all but 2 can be killed...... or disloyal in which case they'd have some difficulties wanting to stay with Shep.   So Bioware has 2 options.... an entire new squad or our keep our remaining squadies.

I see your point. I just think that all of them sticking around until the Reapers show up(Who the hell knows when thats gonna be?) is lame. They all had their own lives and I don't see many of them staying with Shepard so I would hope to see ME1 squad mates returning along with some new faces. If they do stay I just hope it's well written and they have actual reasons for staying.

Yes, they all had their own lives... but they should know about the reaper threadthreat by now... why would anyone go back to worrying about chasing criminals, being a criminal, or working for creds... if they know that if they don't stop the reaper threat, none of that crap will matter? They should all want to stay on and see it through to the end. That includes the ME1 peeps.

edit: to fix "thread" to "threat" ... lmao... they should totally know about the reaper thread! :wizard:

I get that the Reaper threat is looming and all but my point is that we don't know when that will be. The ending of ME2 didn't leave me with a sense of urgency, at least not from Shepards perspective. I don't think the squad from ME2 will abandon Shepard(not unless they find out about Morinth). It just makes sense that they will go do their own thing until they are needed.

Although I do not want an entire new cast of squadmates, I would be open to a few new squadmates (only 2-4).

First, some characters that already exist that I think could potentially make good squadmates (if they are alive of course) include: Shiala, Gianna Parasini, Kirrahea, Rana Thanoptis, Bailey, Kolyat, Aria, Patriarch, Kal'Reegar and Urz (give him an overwhelm ability and...lol).

Second, new squadmates I would like to see include: a batarian squadmate and 1 character from either the Council (maybe another spectre?), Cerberus (Kai Leng?) or Alliance (Ashley/Kaiden) depending on where Shepard's allegiance lies.  On a side note, whether they are a squadmate or not I would want to see a point of conflict with someone that was close to whoever died on Virmire, for example Rahna for Kaiden or Sarah for Ashley.

Third, I would almost be interested in seeing some characters leave the squad and then return at a later time.  For example, what if Tali had help out the Migrant Fleet and returns after she completes her task (maybe 1 story mission later)?  In other words, I think there should be a "bank" of squadmates that can be chosen from if a squadmate died on the suicide mission, is away on an important mission or if you want to change up your squadmates (in this scenario the squadmate removed from the squad would help their species prepare to fight the reapers, but they could return if you request it).

It depends on time before Reaper invasion. If there is year or more than that's definitely logical. It's need to be mad as Shepard to live on that small ship all the time.

maybe this will be clarified i the upcoming DLC. I don't really care what happens since I only liked a couple of the ME2 characters.

I just hope the character selection screen isn't as terrible like in me2, where i always selected default garrus and miranda for lazyness (I think I've never ever used thane..).

1. I wouldn't be surprised if there were new squad mates.
2. I wouldn't be surprised if there were no love interests.

However, I prefer if most of the squad mates in ME3 were from ME1 and ME2.
As for new romances, I would prefer no new romances.

This.
Perfectly.
I think there WILL be new squaddies, but I'd MUCH prefer to have ALL my living former mates part of my crew, even at the expense of new party members.

Bioware is a business, you can expect them to maximize profits anyway they can.  If that means cutting characters down to email messages, they'll do it.

Out of the six ME1 squadies, only two returned.  That means 4 maybe 5 are likely to be in ME3... but considering Garrus and Tali couldn'd die in ME1...  the odds are actually much worse.

I'm not seeing anyone returning, except possibly Liara and Kaidan/Ashley.  But then, new players wouldn't know anything about them, so the devs might decide not to waste the time/money.

ehh...

Can't see why anyone would ever want to.
