one problem in dragon age for me is that there was too much talking and not enough action.

It could get tedious at times.

It is an RPG.The main part of the game is the plot and characters.

I played the demo and then went to finish my current warden on origins.
Man, the pace, the graphics, the combat, everything is so diferent, so better that I have to force myself to play DAO again.

Why do you thnk Bioware can still expect top dollar for DAO while all of the other games from that era are in the bargan bins? People care about that game, it was like a novel, when you opened it up it was warm and inviting, you could become imersed in the story and charaters, explorer Trevinter ruins with characters you cared about, he humorous banter between your fellow explorers, battles that you actually had to work at to win. And yes it was slow, you got to know the other characters and actually gave a damn about them, role playing game! The new one, rocket paced, couldn't care less for the characters, cold and uninviting, chorus line archers and swordsmen (123 fire, 123 slash but that's okay I'll take them out with a whirlwind attack) if this is what you want enjoy, but, if Bioware doesn't hear that some of us feel cheated than I'm sure this is all we can expect in the future. As for me I'll pick up my copy in a couple months in the bargan bin.

It's funny to read people bashing the demo when they're ignoring DAO's faults, not realising the time skip in the demo or just thinking this is Dragon Age Origins 2 instead of Dragon Age 2.

Personally I loved the improvements they've made on the combat system. I liked what little information we were given about the plot and how the story will evolve. The dialogue wheel and voiced character are major improvements for the immersion over a blank faced Warden or over the shoulder camera angle 24/7. I love seeing a female character that actually looks like a female instead of a male model that had boobs added on. So far the only downside I can see to the game is not having my favorites from DAO in my group but I'll reserve final judgement for when the game actually comes out.

It's just a demo. And Bioware is not exactly famous for their demos.

DAO's in the bargain bin too. Ultimate Edition for $37, standard edition $24.

Personally I can't make an intellegent comparison between DAO and DA2 until after I've played DA2.

Just seeing the bits of the 1up gameplay demo put me at ease. It is EXACTLY like Dragon Age: Origins, with a new coat of paint. And I am happy with that.

You've never played Dragon Age 2.  The demo includes a grand total of 3 conversations with your party members, how can you decide they're "cold and uninviting"?  Even from what little we see of her, Aveline struck me as one of the freshest and most sympathetic swords 'n sorcery RPG characters in a long time.  She looks like a normal person instead of being airbrushed supermodel gorgeous (she even has--gasp--freckles) and actually had a feasible build for a woman warrior--she's tall and well-muscled, rather than being 5 foot nothing, 90-pound, wasp-waisted ultrafemme who can still somehow swing a greatsword longer than she is tall and wear twice her weight in platemail.

Yeah I'm in the same boat here actully, I just I don't know I like DA:O but having played so long with my mage, and then trying to do another run with it and some other options I'm just blah. Like I just can't stand playing it anymore, maybe its just too much time with the game, or that I'm playing with a two hander which is boring in DA:O.

If you really hated it that much then why don't you sell me you SE it's wasted on someone who can't apptrciate DA2Posted Image

The demo was just showing off combat, which I don't think anyone can argue that it isn't better then DA:O. You are free to complain all you want but at least wait to play the whole game before writing it off as worse than DA:O

Done, I've stated an opinion, I wont convince you and you won't convince me, and sixty bucks is still sixty bucks and in my opinion it would be a waste to spend it on this game, and believe it or not I do hope time shows me to be wrong because I've been looking forward to this for over a year and that Demo... the worst. By the way Aveline looks like Disneys Hercules stand in.

Fair enough. It's a bit likely, actually.

Probably one of my main issues, personally, is some of the changes from what I, personally, really felt like DAO was.

Of course, if it was a new IP, it probably wouldn't have so many people on the forums to complain anyway.

Bioware should not make any more games. Since they won't do exactly how I want, exactly how I want them to do it, and with the exact characters I specify, they cannot make good games. Since I don't want to play them, I know there is no one else on the planet who wants to play them. I know this hurts you, Bioware.

I don't like the DA2 combat better. And I just don't like people telling me I can't dislike a game without having played it through, just as much as those telling me the same about a movie I haven't seen. Even less when the game/movie is a sequel in which lots of things are changed from the predecessor, and/or there are lots informations, reviews and trailers available, or even the possibility to experience parts of it first hand like in the demo.

Heh, the first thing I did after playing the demo was load up my most recent save and play for a few hours. It made me feel a lot better. ;)

If you liked Pong, DA2 will likely blow you away.

Seriously, it's a demo.

This is Bioware, they don't even get points on the characters, plot and lore Because it's standard in every game.

Hell, the Sonic DS game even had some freakin Lore.

I didn't see anyone saying they shouldn't make games. Most of the so called haters are just expressing their dissapointment in what the game is instead of what they were hoping it would be. I'll lay down an extreme example here, story time:
A good few years back, i got in on the ground floor of Star Wars Galaxies. It was relatively fun, character creation was decent, but the biggest draw was it handled a number of things differenty than other mmo's. All it needed was content. But of course, this didn't happen. Instead, down the line someone decided "Hey, I know! Let's make it a wow clone, but throw in a really bad first person shooter element, and allow anyone to become a jedi even though the timeline completely forbids it. " That was pretty much the end of the game i enjoyed, as it became the largest collection of herp derp this planet has ever seen. You can't help but feel betrayed and saddened at what you lost.
Fast forward to 2011.
DA:2 demo comes out, and even though the core game play is still inact from DA:O, there's been so many cosmetic and stylistic changes that it feels like a different game. Some people will have trouble accepting this, and some will be so upset at what they feel they've lost, that they won't even try. Take a moment to think about the games you've loved in the past or are looking forward to, and imagine if a sequel were released that changed up this much of it's formula. How about Crysis 2 with the photrealistic graphics replaced by cartoons and the solid physics engine gone, or Diablo 3 with no looting and no multiplayer. Those changes would verly likely ruin both those games for me, it just wouldn't be the same game.
Having said that, once a person stops thinking about what DA2 isn't and accepts it for what it actually is, enjoyment and fun can be had. Mine is preordered, and i expect to have a good time. I still feel the need to vent about what i've lost and what i was looking forward to. But as I'm sure will be pointed out, Bioware can make the game as they see fit, and I can either accept it, or carry on and play other games.

i have seen dao in bargin bins just like any other game. and ur discribing a full game based on trailers and a demo. which is like basing opinions of a movie based on trailers and a 10 minute sneak peek. so stop being ignorant and trying to pass it off as knowledge. thanks :)

I was going to walk away but the last wtf was enough. Your right it's a DEMO, which means what? It demonstrates what is in the game... like flying around with 50 pound great swords isn't BS, how do I know, oh, it was in the demo. Killing 10 enemy with one blow isn't BS how do I know it was in the demo. Speaking of the enemy besides being an army with a crappy dential plan who are they? Are these the same slimy darkspawn that came up from the deep roads, they must have stopped by Calvin Kline armorers on their way to battlehow do I know... its in the demo. Lack of caring in the characters, how do I know... do I need to say it again? The demo represents the game and to cross my fingers hoping it gets better seems kinda silly, if this doesn't represent the game then they picked a lousy demo, by the way the remark about Aveline was just an observation nothing more.
