Anyway, main point of the thread: The demo made me think about different ways Bioware could market their games pre-release. What if, instead of having a ton of random DLC you get from all different places and a hacked-up demo with most of the game's features locked, Bioware instead created a really polished 0.5-2hr hour "prologue" that included a tutorial similar to the first fight in the demo, one level up experience, and sort of set the stage for the coming game?
I think doing that would be a much more engaging way of drawing new players to the IP, and hooking them on the story. It would also be a nice thank you to the community, a free gift everyone could enjoy that really showed off what the full game had in store - and let you get excited about your character in character creation. Then you could export your prologue character into the full game.
I know some people may think offering that for free is unrealistic, but as some one who has been shelling out a lot for Bioware DLC, I think a free demo "prologue" would make later priced DLC a lot easier to swallow.
If they were going to consider this, I'd also hope they'd consider continuing to improve how the player variables from previous games are managed. I think I'd get a lot more enjoyment out of Bioware RPG's if they'd let you "set the scene" in some sort of prologue scenario rather than having to do a playthrough of every possibility - keeping track of what each character did get's annoying after 6 play throughs
But returning to the main point - free2play polished prologue demo: A great intro for franchise newbies and nice thank you to fans, or unrealistic?
