Dragon Age Origins did not have better graphics. You say what you want about thinking they should be better, but claiming DAO had better graphics is utter lunacy.
Here's a screenshot from Dragon Age: Origins:
http://h-5.abload.de...05-14-13mun.jpg
Look at the skeletons on the ground. All the bones are individually modeled and there are no repeating patterns anywhere.
Now compare that to this Dragon Age 2 screenshot:
http://bioware.files...2011/02/077.jpg
Now look at these skeletons in the lower left. The skeletons are all really low-res with crappy textures and there are a bunch of repeating skull/ribcage pieces all over the place.

That's the kind of thing you'd see on the N64, not a PC with these system requirements:
Recommended:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz Processor or equivalent
CPU: AMD Phenom II X3 Triple core 2.8 GHz or equivalent
RAM: 2GB (4 GB Vista and Windows 7)
Video: ATI 3850 512 MB or greater
Video: NVIDIA 8800GTS 512 MB or greater

all you have to do is compare the darkspawn from DAO and DA2 and you can see the..."improvements"...FearMonkey wrote...

I think a fairer comparison would be to either show an interior screenshot of DA2 or an exterior screenshot from DA:O, especially around Redcliffe by the lake (seems about the same color pallete).
The skeletons are funny though. The DA:O ones ribs are spaced ridiculously far apart and the DA2 ones look like they were made from Dr. Frankentein's Playdough machine.

Let me understand this, did you take the most detailed shot in
I mean, do you really want me to pull out a bunch of ugly screenshots from DAO? To "prove" my point? That's confirmation bias.
The skeletons are no worse, and no better. You zoomed in as close as you could possibly get. The DAO skeleteons look just as bad.
No repeat patterns, huh?

I mean, what is up with those gigantic eye sockets, that look like they've been scared? What's up with the beak? No skeleton in Thedas should look like that.
