The whole point of a game is that it engages and entertains the player. Why give a couple of throw away gay characters when you could just let all the characters evolve based on the players interactions? The point is that zev and the like are insulting afterthoughts. If you thought about including gay characters, why did you just make them throw aways? let the normal characters react to the player stimulus and develop accordingly. You are an idiot. Bioware goes out of there way to put this in the game. It doesn't HAVE to be there. They could have not put it in and that would be the end of this.

However a great company goes out of it's way to give you a freedom expressed in a mass media that society (U.S.A) won't allow you to have. Now you are insulting them? They game you the ability to have gay romance and you insult them for it? This didn't even have to be in the game. It was put there for you. You are ungratful and should kill yourself. Stop wasting the oxygen of the homosexual folks who apprciate the gesture.

It may not be the character you want but they still gave you the opportunity. Please just leave, you insult the homosexual community with your pressence.

There is a legitimate need, in writing, to define a character. Period. That follows into all aspects of the character. This is an RPG, not pure wish fulfillment. The needs of writing are part of the needs of the game design.



I won't say you should feel lucky for the inclusion, as is the sense I get from some posts. I will say that leaving things completely open on all counts would have seemed fake, false, forced - terrible qualities for writing to take on, and it would have killed the quality of that aspect of the game.

Dude, seriously... you need to take a chill pill (or seven...). Zevran is not a "throwaway character", as a matter of fact, I prefer him to Alistair in many ways. I'm sorry you fell for the straight guy in a video game, I've done it myself manytimes in the real world, it sucks, but that's life. Sometimes we don't get what we want... the question is: do we act like a total F-****** and bad mouth the only game company with the balls to put in a gay romance at all? Or should we instead, appreciate the gesture, but respectfully suggest that next time they make the gay guy more of this and less of that?



I can tell you which one I would respond better to, and its not the hissyfit you just threw.

As a straight man, I'm glad Alistair isn't trying to hook up with me. Since 93% of the population is straight, I suspect they would agree with me on that one. You want every character to be gay if the player character wants them to be, which is ridiculous. The gay characters won't turn straight for me, why should the straight ones turn gay for you?



I can see you posting a comment indicating that you'd like to pop Alistair in his pooper, but why are you so angry at Bioware for making the main side character straight? It's not the request that is weird, it's your outrage at a company for not making the games main plot line tailored too an extreme minority of the population that baffles me. Even though Bioware went out of their way to include elements of the game JUST FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU, you are literally cussing them out because not 100% of the game is homosexual.

Strange, I think lordhugerone and 0LunarEclipse0 would beg to differ, not to mention if anyone else just didn't say they were gay. I honestly don't get why the hell you're even angry, oh no, you don't like the available minor subplot, it has ruined the game.

I think the creators get a pretty large say in who the characters are- they created them. They probably are pretty emotionally invested in them, too, and who are you to criticize that? The fact that they went into such depth to create the people we love in other ways shows they that weren't about to skip over such a potentially important feature. Sexuality is a a part of that character, even if it is not his/her defining characteristic. The fact that ONE player is throwing a hissy fit about it isn't going to do anything.

What gay characters ever didn't turn straight for you?  They don't write gay characters like that.  If they did, I might not be pissed off.

Wow.. can't just enjoy the game and share your fun experiences with the rest of the community.

If you don't like it, then you should have researched it and not purchased. You have the game, enjoy it for what it's worth instead of whining over some stupid mechanic. It's fictional. No one is out to get you. The company has done great things.

I don't feel lucky that we got two bisexual characters - one of each gender.
But I damn well feel appreciative of the fact! Even if the gay character is not the handsome, sensitive, paragon that some would like him to be (Personally I've grown to like Zev, despite his faults)

Simply put, I'll take a game that has one character that's well defined, with a credible backstory, who I can have a gay romance with, that is totally justified and explained by who they are as a character - over a game where you can 'romance' an indefinite number of characters, any way you want, in a way that has no meaning, no unique story, and no depth.
If I want the latter, I'll play the Sims.

Perhaps my rant won't.  But why do they need to define an npcs sexuality?  I game a ton, and you don't need to invest that way. 

It is a cheap exploit.
