As to actual promos the demo thing makes perfect sense encourages people to get their EA accounts and gives a test of the servers that are used for the actual games DRM this second part is kinda like slave labour astroturfing; kind of fake word of mouth. Anyway everyone is entitled to their own misguided opinion and mine is that this is somewhat distasteful.

I hope bioware keeps the idea of all this pre launch extra dlc....I LOVE IT. If it's a game I love (which is basically any bioware game, been repping since the first Baldurs gate). The more free stuff the better. I don't mind advertising for them- i want to see them succeed so they keep making great games. If I can do something to help out and get free items to boot- I'm in.
I completely agree. Call me a chump or a nuiscance, but I actually enjoy the challenge of tracking down all the random bonuses.

The number that mattered was the number of downloads not the number of peopel who signed in to the demo. And the counter clearly was connected to the number of download attempts for the PC demo from the Bioware site since that is how it was getting spammed. If it was keeping track of the number of people that signed in with their EA accounts then there would have been no way for people to have spammed at the speed that it was spammed twice.Argoyne wrote...
I have to admit that I find it weird that the counter for the demo didn't as people are saying show the proper number. The number that was being counted for the unlock was people logging into their EA accounts with the demo, not downloads. As such the number should easily have been retrievable across platforms as the data that mattered was in folks EA account. If for whatever reason they didn't have access to that data it doesn't seem like they should have had a ticker at all. That said I suspect I wouldn't do very well in marketing.

The fine print disagrees.
Offer expires March 1, 2011. Requires Internet connection, EA account, ownership
of Dragon Age II ("Product") for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or PC. The Demo
must be downloaded by 1 million users across the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC
for the items to become available. EA online Privacy Policy and Terms of Service
are available at www.ea.com. Must be 13+ to create
an EA account. Valid everywhere Product is sold. To access items in the Product
, you must be logged into the Product using the same EA account that you used to
register your Product and 1 million users must have downloaded the Demo within
the time period specified. Items are nontransferable. May not be combined with
any other offer, gift card, rebate or discount coupon. Void where prohibited,
taxed or restricted by law.
No mention of having to log in, and the fine print is the controlling mumbo jumbo.

Its like they are dangling items to get us to promote their game. So if the milestone doesn't get reached you wont release the content you created? Seems cheap IMO.

Well, I don't mind doing some things to help get word of mouth around. But I stop if my friends ask it is too annoying (especially if dealing with Facebook) but I hope to get the new reward that's coming.

Hey, I love free stuff, but let's just hope all this crap doesn't unbalance the game... there's so much of it now that I'm kind of worried. Then again, they aren't forcing me to use any of it, but the tempation will be strong... XDjakecollette wrote...
