Ugh I hate myself. Cuz of DA2 and Legends, I'm a damn Facebook noob now, and I bet I'm one more Dragon Age share away from de-friending
What's worse is the floodgate it opens. "Oh hey, old friends... family... co workers... argghh!" *toaster in tub*

It's not that they didn't want to put in the effort that everyone else did, it's just that they didn't want to do it using Facebook. There's a huge difference. Had there been another option for participating, they most likely would have.
Facebook has a very hard time respecting the privacy of others. By now, I'm half convinced that they believe an open society where everyone shares every single detail about their lives is the future and anyone who disagrees is stuck in the Dark Ages. The thing is, the privacy issue is something they have gotten into alot of trouble before and they will get in trouble for it again.
Can you honestly blame people for hesitating/not wanting to use it?

To be honest, it really does bother me how some people are outright dismissing those who have very legitimate concerns with using Facebook and are pretty much labeling them as freeloaders who have absolutely no right to voice their opinion on this matter.

I don't think it's dumb for people to value their privacy more than a tome from a game, I really don't. But still, there were people who did go out and spam people with these messages, even some who didn't really want to because they have friends/family on, and they did. But when people decided not to do it, that was a decision - it wasn't even a wrong one, just one that might have had the consequence of "you don't do it, you don't get the stuff." I see why people say "it's not fair we don't get it," but at the same time, how is it fair that everyone else had to do the work when others didn't? We're not even sure that's what will happen - it might prove too much of a pain for them to pull off anyway.

I gotta agree with Priestly on this one, though.
People who actually helped have the right to get the rewards. Those who complained just don't have anything to say about it and no right to complain about not getting the rewards.
First complain they don't want to do this, and then complain that only the people who did it got the reward. Pffft.
+1:)
Nothing against those who decided for whatever reason not to (or couldn't) participate, but if you didn't help then you shouldn't get the DLC - If you spent the entire time complaining about it then even more so...
Just my opinion

I have liked and shared all 4 messages, I've done my part for the cause! I can understand their wanting to reward only those who actually tried to help, given how many folks clearly didn't. It's so easy to be helpful, just takes a few seconds, everybody should be doing their best to help achieve the goal, so we can win that awesome reward!
There's a difference between being "helpful" and being "a sheep". People have every right to not want to spam their friends and family's social pages with a product they're not interessted in just because EA is waving a shiny in front of our noses.
You want advertising? Then you have to pay for it, just like everybody else. And no, I don't consider some trinket that even the most amateur of modders could whip out as a reward.
And, of course, there's always the high road: just make great games and show your love for the community so that word of mouth be your free advertising. It's been working pretty well for this small gaming company, you might have heard of them, called Valve.

Like other have said I don't like how Facebook handled privacy and more importantly, the respect for privacy of others in the past. I don't believe Facebook is a evil/bad since some good things have come from social media like it (although I do have a major problem with "useless" dumbed down communication, like twitter, and its effect on worthwhile communication). If I can't trust a company or don't respect the way they do business, I don't do business with them. So far it's kept me out of a lot of scrapes where others I know got pulled in and suckered.
If it was as simple as a "like" sure I would do that, but having to join is a whole different matter. Anyone who made the decision to not join facebook should be ready to not receive an in-game item. By the same token, anyone who did do a lot of "work" trying to reach the goal should be ready not to get it either.

Which is why I think this second phase wasn't as good of an idea as getting people to download the demo a million times.
Some people are simply not going to use Facebook period based on what I've already said, even though they may have participated otherwise. That alone was inevitably going to cause people to argue about what's fair and what's not. You get people who have the perfectly reasonable viewpoint of "Don't participate = Don't get the reward" but, on the other hand, you get people who ask "How is it fair that I couldn't participate in the first place" and "How is it fair that I did participate, but I didn't get the item because I used a different account?" Which, is perfectly reasonable as well.
Because of that, the question doesn't become "What's the fairest way to do this?" but "What's the best way to handle this PR situation?"
To be honest, I think it's ultimately going to be "It unlocks for everyone" simply because they asked for a million impressions. How exactly, does one go about determining who did what and how many times they did it? That's a lot of effect involved.

Edit: Actually, since this is a Facebook promotion like the Legends game, it makes sense that only people with Facebook would get the tome. I don't see a problem. You think I'm going to complain about not getting the Legends items? That would not make sense.

P.S. If you're one of those "I refuse to be on Facebook, but I still want my free tome" types, you owe those whilling to Social Media on your behalf.
